2.
I use switch cleaner what I do is take the knob off the pot and then I use a tight fitting length of clear plastic tubing put that over the pot shaft to form a tight fit then give it several smallish blasts of the cleaner down the tube them I remove the tube turn the pot from left to right a few times and you will feel it become easier to turn and then I just repeat the process again if needed
I prefer to get to the back of the pot by removing the top of the case or whatever. Most pots have a little indent on the edge of the back surface, and this is the opening into which I insert the switch cleaner applicator tube. Some pots incorporate a lubricant to allow the shaft to move freely (please - save it for OT!), and if you spray switch-cleaner in at the front where the shaft emerges from the threaded portion, you risk washing away that lube. (IIRC, Alesis specifically warn against this. )
 3. I think we can see which way this is heading...
 4.
I will be bringing my Status kingbass artist Status s2 classic 5 string Genz Benz steamliner 900 Vanderkays 2x10 & 1x12
In that case I shall leave my Streamliner at home and bring the SVT 3 Pro instead
 5.
Are the white ones the same as the black ones?
No they are a different colour. *shambles towards coat rack, hiding face in shame*
 6. Ok 'fullness' and 'wallop'. We are talking lower mids here, not something lacking in the OTB head from having heard one. I have no experience of isobaric speakers though, beyond a quick try-out at Anderton's one time. My best suggestion would be to try out a completely different rig on one of your gigs and see (or hear) whether you have the same problem. Whereabouts are you?
 7.
I think the "volume issue" with the 3-PRO is as Chris puts it, people not using the amp as per the instructions of whacking Master on full, the using Gain for volume. I thought the 3-PRO had a really wide array of sounds, but in the end, after messing about with the graphic and mid-switch etc, I found the sound I liked best was all eq set flat.
I can't be @rsed with the graphic, but I do like to push the lower mids a bit - switch position 1 or maybe 2. As Lozz and Chris mention, the example settings in the manual show Master maxed out and Gain very low. I used the Gain and Master the other way round, but it still gives you the same volume in the end. I will report back after next Friday's gig - Foo Fighters, Green Day, RHCP, Muse, Oasis, Jam, Weller, Coldplay etc.
 8. Yep, Midget = 9kg, Compact = 12kg. Both ridiculously light, but the Compact is about 40% bigger in volume.
 9. This would probably be as close as I'd ever get to a Jazz! Sadly my bass rack runneth over... GLWTS
 10.
a big single knob comes in very useful!
No arguments there!
I've always thought about a phaser, let me know what you think
When I used effects on bass, one of them was a Phase 100, which I used on a fast rate. You have to be a bit careful with phasers on bass, as some settings will cause a lot of cancellation in the lower frquencies.
 11.
Done, including waistcoat lunge shot!
Time for someone to start a separate waistcoat lunge shot thread methinks.
 12. There's definitely someone on BC with a 2xCompact stack, and a few (myself included) who rock Midget+Compact stacks. Can't remember anyone mentioning using a 2x Midget stack. It could only be good though! Have you thought about adding a Compact instead? That would give you far more options, and the price seems to have gone down since 3rd Gen came out (EDIT: used price). NB - not selling mine!
 13.
Tonnes of tubey greatness that I can carry without regular physiotherapy!!
Still quite hefty compared to a Class D head, even carrying it in a soft case. Worth it though!
 14. I finally got round to using mine in anger today (well, yesterday now!) and I am well pleased. I played my '73P through it at a jam, and it sounded classic. I was also able to hear andyonbass giving my setup a workout with renditions of a Jam tune among other things. I don't normally crave treble, and the P puts out plenty despite being strung with flats, but I must say the bright switch usefully extends the range of top end available. The cab was my BF Compact, so that would be 275W max output into 8ohm. It was plenty loud enough against a drumkit and 2 or 3 guitarists with the gain set to just flashing the red LED, and master at noon, with no extra help from the graphic. I can barely wait to gig this lot next Friday with both BF cabs. Jonesy, how are you getting on with yours?
 15. Errr.... Those lower strings look a bit of a handful on their own, never mind the other dozen.
 16. Well I've exhausted all the days of the week, so time for a price reduction to £100 collected (or £115 delivered within the UK). Trades? Hit me! Also happy to consider splitting.
 17.
Couple of funny incidents at our gig last night. At load-in the bass player with the first band asked me if he could borrow my amp, there was no prior arrangement about any gear share, so I asked if he had brought his amp: "I wasn't sure if I needed to, so I didn't" which I thought was mind boggling and hilarious at the same time! After saying no just to see the look on his face, I let him as they were up first, and I had sold him a fretless a while ago. The chap from the top band asked the same, but this time I politely declined, as 1) I'd never met him before and 2) I really wanted to go after I'd played. Fortunately, he had got his gear in the van, but he still seemed to have the hump about it...
I know there have been threads on this before, but why would you ever turn up without an amp unless you absolutely knew that one was provided? It would be quite fun to have a pre-printed form where the potential gear-borrower fills in all their personal details, agrees to pay for any damage, and hands over a £100 cash deposit!
 18. I didn't move from occasional to whole-gig singing until I turned 50, and my range has not really changed since I was in my twenties. I always warm up before the gig, and I try to leave the songs that push my range until later in the evening. The best things to drink are tea (not too milky) or water, and I avoid iced or very cold drinks.
 19.
Should have gone to specsacers.
Should have used the spellchecker
 20. Saw a TV program on this once. Well they're not hurting anyone. Probably.
 21. Bit of an aside on the old 'Woolly Ashdown' thing: I had an ABM 500 rig, and it wasn't that it was short of top end (far from it), rather that every note came with extra low-end baggage that obscured any subtlety. I would be really interested to see how the Rootmasters fare in this respect, because the feature set seems bang on.
 22.
He was back with the Ray by 1996 - a very sad film as this was his last concert before passing away. Nevertheless the playing and sound is great! http://youtu.be/M1APFyc_QtQ
I have this on DVD - excellent!
