1. I've had my Beyer for 16 years and it still works as well as the day I got it. That's a lot of gigs! The only thing that stops me trying a Hercules (whose guitar stands I use) is that the diameter is too big to fit the clip-on tray that I use for my Bose Tone Match.
2. Pah! It's not even being advertised with a naked lady!
3. Those drivers had better be well matched, else there'll be skull and hair flying when you plug it in. Well, shredded paper at least.
4. TBH they all look great but I do love minty white. Where can I access this P-bass designer? I need to stoke up the GAS a bit - NOT!
5. M&S car coat and a pair of Farahs. Sorted!
6. Given the seller's eBay name is '4 corners pottery' I would be disappointed if there weren't some old jugs available. *picks up coat and tiptoes from room*
7. I've used the same effect built into a Boss Multi-FX, but only on electric guitar, which is what it was designed for. On guitar it worked best on a neck single coil pickup. I'm guessing part of what it does is to scoop the mids. This might make an electric guitar sound like an acoustic (roughly) but no way is it going to make an electric bass sound like an upright!
8.
Why aren't the pole pieces anywhere near the strings on that bridge pickup? Looks almost like it should be on a six-string!
Each string sits between 2 pole pieces. If a string is displaced laterally (i.e pushed sideways!) it moves away from one pole piece but towards the other. This should keep the magnetic field pretty constant. Simples (meep).
9. Huh-huh-huh. Stool. Beavis, he said stool. huh-huh-huh.
10.
Sounds as though Cubase is opening with an un-used signal source open.
I get this if I use Garageband (which I rarely do, as I don't get on with it). Presumably there is a menu somewhere that can be tweaked to fix this.
11.
There are 5 other bands on and the venue have insisted we all use the provided backline.
This is clearly to save setup time. If every band's bass player insisted on using their own rig, that would somewhat eat into the evening! If you did take your own rig you might have to let all the other herberts use it
12. Rosewood.
13.
Well I'm to late to ring now it seems but will do in the morning. What should I say? As said I'm happy to keep the bass maybe I could get a discount or something ?
Mention the problems and leave the initiative with them to offer a return/replacement/partial refund. If they don't, then weigh in with what you want.
14. I learned the note sequences of all the major scale by going through them in my head at bus stops. Similarly you can learn chord formulae and practice naming the notes, then visualise them on the fretboard e.g. major = R-3-5, so D = D-F#-A, Eb = Eb-G-Bb
15. I have 2 bands comprising the same 3 people, playing under 2 names, with 1 Google diary. There are deps for the other 2 guys, and I fit in deps for other bands where I can. So really it's just one band. Mainly.
16.
It doesn't have to be a tort guard:
Not a million miles from this in appearance:
17. Switched on the radio just now and Suzi Quatro is doing her Radio 2 rock'n'roll show Quatrophonic. Not only is she talking about all the records, she has her bass with her and is running through the various bass lines, including examples of walking bass and triplets with ghost notes. This lady knows her stuff - entertainment and education in one!
18. Excellent job. I to would love to hear some sound clips.

Is the handle wonky, or just partly retracted?
20. You have mail! 4 transcriptions sent.
21. I'm not convinced by the 'signature tone' thing. There is a fair difference between the tones of the BF Midget and Compact, and between the Compact and the Super 12. In a blindfold test I could tell you there was a difference, and could probably pick out the Midget, which kind of suggests there isn't a signature BF tone. I've never walked into a gig or rehearsal room while a band was playing, and thought 'that's a [fill in the blank] cab' before seeing the rig.
22.
got a link?
http://www.youtube.com/user/treverpitts
23. So - are you going to be selling off any tasty basses to make room for this, or just letting the collection grow and grow!?
24. I have a couple of my own transcriptions (music notation) which I can email as a Sibelius file or a pdf - PM me if interested and I'll look them out.
25.
Saturday night at the Fleece in Bristol... always a good night there, but the placed was absolutely rammed to the rafters last night... they hit the fire limit and were turning people away by 9 o'clock. Support from a very good covers band The Collective, nice guys and some unusual covers well played. We had one or two new tunes in our set, seemed to go down well. Crowd were in good voice, brilliant atmosphere and god it was hot! Too funky in heeyar..! A great night. Bassist's eye view of the punters:
Looks like you were stage right - I have been stage left when I have played the Fleece. Played a WMC in Camberley last night. More of a clapping crowd than a dancing one, and some of the people who did dance were doing it by the bar, not on the dance floor!
