Why when I post from my phone does it upload the pics sideways!? Grrr
Mine does the same. Pesky Android!

Scott's site is always worth a look. I've picked up some useful stuff, even if I'm not bothered about soloing over jazz progressions.

My drummer refuses ever to use one as he says anyone playing one looks like they are sitting on the toilet. He has a point.

I wore this album out when I had it on cassette tape, so when I saw it on CD I just had to buy it. While it is still a cracking album, I find my own tastes have moved in different directions since. I enjoyed listening to it afresh a couple of time, but in truth it no longer floats my boat. However, given that Abe Laboriel is the bass player, I am sure it will be of interest to fellow BC-ers of a jazz and/or fusion disposition. Two of the tracks are Miles Davis compositions. Musicians Larry Carlton - guitar Terry Trotter - keyboards Abraham Laboriel - bass John Robinson, Rick Marotta - drums Alex Acuna - percussion Jerry Hey, Gary Grant - trumpet Mark Russo - saxophone Track listing 1. So What (7:57) 2. Don't Give It Up (5:32) 3. The B.P. Blues (7:53) 4. All Blues (8:18) 5. Last Nite (7:57) 6. Emotions Wound Us So (6:17) Price is [s]£8[/s] £6 delivered in the UK.

I had the OCD clone from dudewheresmybass but a guitarist friend persuaded me to sell it to him. He loves it more than I did, so everyone's a winner!

If you want to run drive effects into your amp's front end and modulation effects in the loop, you will need a MFX pedal with a send/return facility in between those effect blocks. That would rule out the TC Nova for a start. If you just plug into the front end, that ceases to be a problem.
Hi all, I have recently acquired a MiM P bass and I'm looking to upgrade the pickup. However, I am something of a novice in this department and am not too sure what kind of pickup to get. I quite like the tone that I'm getting from the factory pickup, but I find that the D and G strings seem to lack a bit of oomph. Also, the E string seems to "thud" a lot when played too aggressively. Advice/suggestions would be very much appreciated! Cheers, Elliot.
Also worth backing off the E side of the E-A part of the pickup.

Oliv Strings, going crazy out of tune!?
JapanAxe replied to SevenSeas's topic in EUB and Double Bass
I am not a DB player but I do have an electro-classical guitar and I can tell you it takes ages for nylon strings to settle down. If these Olivs are actual gut rather than nylon, I would expect them to be even worse in this respect! -
I tried D'Addario half-rounds and they are ok, but I still prefer Chrome flats. I have not played them hard enough to see how much brightness they might have lost.

This set cost £25.80 delivered from Status. I have had problems with wolf tones on the B, as you can read here, so in the end I put some D'Addario Chromes on instead. In the meantime they only had a few hours of home use in a smoke-free environment. The strings have been cut to fit my G&L 5-string, which has a 3+2 headstock, so they are not now long enough for a 4+1 layout. Also I can't give any kind of guarantee on the B string - it might just be that it doesn't get on with that particular bass, or it might be faulty. If you ignore the B and look at this as a 4-string set, then again it won't fit the usual 4-on-a-side, but it should be fine on a 2+2 like a Sandberg Basic or many of the Ibanez basses. Anyway, to help you decide whether this set is for you, I have measured from ball end to centre of tuning post, and the total length of the cut string. Measurements are to the nearest 5mm/¼inch. Price is £13 delivered, payment by bank transfer or PayPal.
A couple of mentions, but no-one posted the Korean cross-dressing bass player yet!? Shame on you all!
I refrained from pressing 'play' on this, not because of the Korean cross-dressing content, but because the guy's right-hand position indicates an imminent slap-a-thon. *sigh* -
Sorry for adding to it as it might be a bit off topic, but I'm about to buy a head tomorrow and I'm also looking at Ampeg, but I'm a bit worried as after doing a lot of research (literally hours online) I've come to a conclusion that Apmeg is not really that reliable anymore. Many people had problems with them and I want something that won't give up on me soon after purchase. My choices are between SVT 4 Pro and SVT 7 Pro - I'm also considering the Galliern Krueger 1001RB. I'm going to be using it mainly for a heavy sound but also some funk. Any advice?
The SVT 7 Pro has had its problems too - its power amp is Class D like the PF500. There are always used SVT 3 Pro heads available on BC, I should know I'm still following the threads despite having just bought a Genz Benz!

Have all the expensive basses been a waste of time?
fender have released their own range of lightweight cabs (for example 24lbs, 500w, 1x12 - also a 2x8 and a 4x10) and small class D heads (150w and 350w) in the rumble range. I imagine this means they still want to benefit from the shift to small class D stuff but under their own, cheaper range rather than keeping the more expensive Genz Benz branded gear. Shame.
This thread has been well and truly hijacked, but surely: cheap + class D = trouble?

Hope his bass wasn't damaged.
Rotosound Trubass are a metal strings in the normal manner and will work on magnetic pickups or a piezo or both.
Perfick.

Are they massive guitars or just really tiny kids?
Thanks for relies! Will trubass rotos still worked when plugged in? its this bass http://www.gear4musi..._kword__match__
Yes. As long as your bass has a piezo system in the bridge, fine. If you have one or more magnetic pickups, the string material becomes crucial as to what those pickups will er... pick up.
