1. Good job Jas! Looks the business. From IMG-2365 it looks like you've dressed the frets too.
2. Try WD for hardware.
3. I run a country trio consisting of myself on lead vocals and guitar, a bass player also singing harmony, and a drummer. I have a gig near Andover on 3rd August that my bass player can't make. The gig is a decent payer as these things go. I can provide lead sheets, lyrics, and links to the song versions we work from if required. I need a dep bass player to meet the following spec: Essential Own kit and transport to Andover Able to sing harmony while playing bass, at least for key lines in choruses, doesn't need to be anything fancy Able to follow a lead sheet Good ear Desirable Knowledge of country material and UK country scene Lead vocal on 2 or 3 songs would be a bonus, as it would give me a break! PM me if you're interested, but please note I will be 'off the grid' (trip abroad with no phone or email) between the afternoon of 10th and 14th July. You can hear a band demo here.
4.
Boss pedals have good buffers so tone loss or volume loss would not be expected, what you are describing for the pedals you have isn't right. Laborious, but you should check each pedal individually against their bypass and the direct to amp tone, a loop switch would be best to test this for easy comparison.
I agree with the second statement, but the decoupling capacitor at the input of each buffered pedal will shave a little bit off the bottom end, and by the time this has happened several times, you can expect a significant loss of bass. Damon, once you have worked out which pedals are the worst culprits (try them in groups of 2 or 3 as well as individually), I suggest you look to true-bypass these with something like the Loopy-2 or Quartermaster from TheGigRig. I also recommend leaving the best buffered pedal connected near the front of the signal chain, as it will happily drive the next pedal or a long cable run to your amp.
5. As a guitarist in a functions band a while back, I used a hefty 2x12 combo on an amp stand, with a small FX rack on top of the combo. After one particularly hair-raising gig where this rig was dancing around on the back of a farm trailer, I took to lashing the whole lot together with one of those locking luggage strap thingies.
6. +1 for Eddie Cochran - great songs and inventive guitar playing!
7. I've only once been sacked from a band, and to be fair I was struggling to match the exceptional prowess of the guitarist I was meant to be replacing, and hadn't got to the point of doing any gigs with them. Now I run my own band, so I can't be sacked, and if either or both of the other members decide to walk, I'll find a replacement.
8. ☝☝Yup - patch change volume jumps can be really hard to deal with on any multi-fx - they sound fine at home volumes, but all over the place at gig level.
9.
Your = statement of ownership. NOT "your a bass player" aaagggggghhhhhh!! You're = abbreviation of "you are". As in "You're a bass player There = as in "you left your bass over there". Their = as in "their instruments were in the van over there when they got nicked" See, it's easy. Now get it correct. Please.
Also: they're = contraction of 'they are' e.g. 'they're still in the van'
10. Good job you sold the Rickenbacker before joining this forum! (see here) The fact that it was ousted by a Westone speaks volumes...
11. Lovely clean clear sound and well-balanced mix. As a sometime guitarist I would have considered a different sound for the overdriven lead guitar, with less drive and reverb, but that's just my personal preference.
12.

Picking out the awkward ones from next gig's set list;
Learning new stuff.
EDIT: I'm not a pro btw, just semi-pro.
13.
Pedants!
At least you spelled the word correctly.
14. 99% of the gigs I play involve a smallish PA that is used for vocals only. If I were to run my bass into the PA, there just wouldn't be the headroom. For the remaining 1%, at least I have a decent sound on stage that I can work with, even if the sound engineer [s]ruins[/s] changes it for FOH.
15.
At least every squier I've played has been on par with every bass ever, should have saved all that money wasted and brought a lord.
Brought=fetched; bought=purchased. That suffices.
16.
I agree with not getting what all the fuss is about but what happens on any forum is that someone says that a group are crap and then the next person comes along and defends them by saying that aren't crap. What amazes me is that anyone would be bothered to reply. I have lots of favourite artists and couldn't give a flying one if anyone likes them or not. If someone loved them or hated them it couldn't possibly make any difference to me liking them or not. I don't listen through other people's ears so why would it?
I totally disagree with... Oh. I'll get me coat...
17. I was going to join the back of the queue marked 'Mumford? Don't get what all the fuss is about', and perhaps say 'meh', but having learned 'Little Lion Man' for a dep gig, I have to admit that song is quite catchy. Can't see me buying any of their stuff though.
18. Although the original designs got so much right, surely few will argue if I say that (1) much current Fender output misses the mark, and (2) many other makers' takes on these designs do the job better? **hides under table and places hands over ears**
19. Still here, just taking up room in my cupboard as number of cases and gig-bags exceeds number of basses in the ratio 2:1!
20. I have used exhaust bandage - basically adhesive aluminium tape. You won't be able to solder to it, so run a wire from the earth side of the circuit to a small solder tag and put a little screw through the tape into the wood of the body.
21. This takes me back to the EP days of the late 70s. Wish I had something more useful to contribute though!
