  1. I am repeatedly looking at it, being revolted by the added-on thumb rest, and then not bidding on it. Hope that helps!
  2. Mainly Rockboard flat patch cables. I bought a quantity in various different lengths and have had no issues with them at all on my guitar pedalboards (I don't use effects on bass).
  3. I've put this in my diary but I have a poor track record when it comes to actually turning up on the day!
  4. I don't think Adam Neely is self-indulgent. If you check out his YouTube channel you'll see he is often exploring fairly challenging musical concepts, but he succeeds in getting them across because he is an effective teacher.
  5. The musical performance left me cold, but I am going to try Adam's tip to start 'feeling' quintuplets.
  6. My one and only bass purchase of 2018 has been an Ampeg PF-50T - definitely the best and not the worst, as it has brought a smile to my face and got me to play up the dusty end a bit more. Don't worry though - I know the money is in the first 5 frets!
  7. Asking myself the question, "Would I be happy to gig with that rig?", my answer would be: Yamaha BB424X - absolutely, very fine basses Ibanez sr500 - don't know because I've never tried one Ashdown 100W combo - no, I'd be looking for something more capable, there's lots to choose from in the Basschat Marketplace If you're looking for something to help you hold your own in a band, pedals won't help you play better - you need a solid grounding in the fundamentals of bass playing.
  8. Congrats Stuart, it's great when you get kit that works for you - enjoy!
  9. I am sure everyone will be pleased to learn that this thread can now be closed, as I have confirmed in live tests that || AMPLIFIER WATTS ARE MEANINGLESS! || On 3 recent gigs I took out a 50W valve head where I normally would have used an 800W Class D head (with the same cab). Both were more than adequately loud, although different, but neither exhibited more heft than the other. OK, please disperse to other threads, nothing to see here 🙄
  10. +1 to both @Dood and Ed Friedland (Bass Whisperer) for excellent and meaningful demos. Actually what I really really like to hear in a demo is some fella slapping the living wossname out of a bass, just like I will be doing on my rock/pop/country/blues gig. Not.
  11. I went from using a (non-Super) Compact to a Super Twin on most of my gigs. To me the Super Twin lacks nothing, but there is way more bass available than I generally need!
  12. Anything played by Bruce Thomas on an Elvis Costello song.
  13. They did a couple of years ago, so I bought one - MIJ FSR model.
  14. There are established circuits for certain genres e.g. country, rockabilly. Seek out the circuit for the kind of music you want to play, find some bands you like, and make yourself known to them.
  15. In short, yes. The scenario involves a foreign bank and uncleared funds. Your bank shows you receiving the money as cleared funds, but the transaction is cancelled when the foreign source account doesn't have funds to meet it. Or something like that! How sure is the OP that the potential buyer IS in Glasgow, and not, say, the Ukraine or Nigeria?
  16. If it's a scam: Next thing he will be saying he can't make it but will arrange a courier. You will feel obliged because you have taken £20 from him. You receive a bank transfer beforehand, but a week after the bass has gone, it is reversed. Variants exist of course.
