1. He gets mentioned here on BC occasionally. His recorded tone is perfect to my ears.
2. As per the title, has anyone done an A/B comparison between the Ampeg PF-50T (or PF-20T) valve head, and any incarnation of the venerable B15, preferably through the same cab? Failing that, if you are familiar with the sound of a B15 and have tried out a PF-50T (or PF-20T), was it anywhere close? Just curious...
3. Neat setup! When will you get a chance to try it live?
4. New cab incoming - Barefaced Super Twin on its way from Brighton via Fedex, ETA some time tomorrow.

Ha ha! I wear those things as slippers round the house. Normally I favour kitten heels, or for formal occasions court shoes of course.

I like pumps.  It saves on buying tablets for trapped wind.

I reckon slingbacks would suit. :D

5. Where did the 'status' thing go? Is this it?

I wanted to add a "ha ha" to SpondonBassed's comment - but I've been told I can't add any more reactions today
.... think I've only added 2? Anyhow SpondonBassed.... Ha Ha :)
PS. JapanAxe - yes, this is it, as you have already worked out
EDIT: I see you now have two status updates... this is new & useful :)
Hmmm, now how do I do that?

@discreet - cover photo in place, some suitably trouser-troubling Precision porn

Precision priapism.  Perfect!

Carry on.

6. I have one of these too. Also a Palmer PDI09 which is passive, so best hooked up to a spare speaker socket on your amp. I'd say this one sounds better and is more flexible than the Behringer, but the Behringer is unfeasibly inexpensive.
7. I bought this speaker as an upgrade to the no-name unit in a Harley Bento GA5 combo. The combo is now going to be a parts donor for another valve amp build, but I need an 8-ohm speaker for that, so this one is surplus to requirements. The speaker has only ever been used in a 5W amp so it has never been stressed and is in perfect working order. It comes in its original Jensen box. You can find the full spec here. It is a great upgrade for any small practice amp up to about 15W that takes an 8 inch 4 ohm speaker, e.g.: Epiphone Valve Junior 1x8 combo (and clone such as the Harley Benton GA5 combo) Fender Champ X D Line 6 Spider 15 Also perfect for a Fender Champ clone build. These cost £32.95 +P&P from the likes of Hot Rox - this one is yours for £25 delivered in mainland UK.
8. My covers gig last night at a large chain pub illustrates quite well the ups and downs of these jobs. On the plus side, a decent payer, and in-house PA provided, so less humping of kit required. On the minus side, the DJ in charge of the PA would have had difficulty distinguishing his anus from his arm joint. The place got very busy during our second set (11 to midnight) as tanked-up punters piled in from other pubs. While I was playing, a bloke at the side of the stage area attracted my attention and asked whether we did any Take That. My head-shake (remember we are still playing) failed to dissuade him from his learned discourse on Take That, none of which I caught, courtesy of my ear plugs. A few minutes later, the same bloke decided to join us on stage, but a smart poke in the kidneys with the headstock of my Precision convinced him to step down. A little later he was back again, so this time I lodged the headstock between his buttocks and pushed hard, much to the amusement of his mates. Thankfully this got rid of him, but it was only a matter of time before an inebriated 'lady' fell into my mic stand, splashing the remains of my diet coke (in mic-stand-mounted holder) all over my tuner pedal. And so on and so forth... Afterwards we faced the usual challenge of manoeuvring our kit through a crowd packed shoulder to shoulder, and very much the worse for wear. Fun gig though.
9. There's always Building GAS - just gearing up for my second valve amp build.
10. Then again, you'd have to go to Wolverhampton to collect it...
11. You can get blanking caps in various sizes from electronics suppliers like Maplin, who call them 'hole plug grommets':
12. Sorry but that's not what a P should look like in my book*. *JapanAxe's Big Book of Precision Basses
13. Although I don't favour the PJ concept, that's a very attractive bass. Can't wait to see the relic!
14. Learning material for bands has led me to discover a lot of great music that I may not otherwise have heard, so I have ended up with less of a disconnect than when I started!
15. Quite so. It's a shame bass cab manufacturers don't give you 30 days to try their products on a few gigs to see whether you like them. Oh, wait...
16.
Ernie Ball Cobalts are quite round wound sounding.
In fact too much so for my liking!
17.
I'm not sure I'd want -2dB at 30Hz without some sort or protection!
18. Bruno Mars - cheesey? Ah well, one man's cheese is another man's cracker...
19.
You could start by looking at the gear Mike Dirnt uses. His cabs appear to mostly be 410 an 610. http://equipboard.com/pros/mike-dirnt
I don't expect Mike Dirnt has to carry his cabs up the back stairs of a social club, or through a crowd of drunken punters and past a taxi rank to where his hatchback is parked on double yellow lines with the hazards on. Just sayin'
20.
Best of Dave's World of Fun Stuff (Funny Moments), also worth a watch if you've not seen it.... LOL
That gave me some LOLs, ROFLs, and LMAOs
21. I had the later 'Pro' version, which was excellent - these are reputed to be even better! GLWTS
22.
The CTM-15 is an all-valve job though... could still be quite hefty!
Don't forget to fetch your coat...
23. Ross sent me a broken tuner to have a go at fixing, wouldn't even take postage money!
