I have done Lyneham, Brize Norton, and Cirencedter. At Brize we were booked by someone who had seen the band at a pub. A couple of random points: (1) The band is a noise in the corner while the audience gat hammered and cop off with that night's shag; (2) You need to have photo ID and send vehicle details in advance so that the guard house can be notified. Allow extra time for the faffage involved.

Hmmm... If I wanted to restore punch I would replace the Jazz with a Precision. You can make a P sound nasal but it's much easier with a J!

I tried a Thunderbird at the last SE Bass Bash and rather liked it, but not enough to tempt me away from Precisions.

Quick and dirty calculation: You need to know the voltage that the original bulb worked at (call it 'V') and the current through the LED required to give a good strong output (call it 'I'). The resistance R that you need for the series resistor is found by R=V/I. That will get you in the ballpark.

The only way I can imagine of a guitar damaging a bass rig would be if you fed a heavily distorted sound through a cab with a tweeter - the increased high frequency content could fry the tweeter. Otherwise nothing to worry about. Whether you would like the sound is a different matter.

The Streamliner has side ventilation so you would have to remove it from its bag before use. I'm another laptop bag user - they can be picked up for about £10 new, £6 used.

Paul, here's an offer for you: If you are playing somewhere between Banbury and Swindon (say Oxford, Chipping Norton etc) and I'm free, I'll bring my amps and cabs for you to play through (see signature but ignore Markbass practice amp!) TBH unless I am 100% devoted to the subject matter I tend to pick up this sort of nook cheap at The Works!

I have tried it at home with my nylon-string electro-acoustic and it worked very well. I would certainly use that setup for an acoustic gig. Haven't tried it with steel-string acoustic yet.

I have a Gen 2 Compact and had to wind the volume up higher than normal on a gig last weekend (should have taken 2 cabs!) but it still sounded phat. Could be the amp?

Hair length/colour wouldn't be a problem to me, I'd just buy a wig. I got a reply to one of my 'dep available' ads from a band whose 3 existing members are aged 15-18. I realised I was older than the lot of them put together!
