Definitely Floaty. Reason; that enormous top horn makes the balance so good that you forget it's even on, in spite of it being a middle-weight.

I'm sure there are companies (or maybe even luthiers) that could fabricate a one-off, bolt-on Bongo neck. Whether or not they've the expertise to lay it up to allow sufficient flexion in the right place/s for the truss rod (if there even is one!) to do it's job is another matter. Cost? Likely horrific. Result? Likely rather good. I've a Bongo, and it's quite something already!

I don't know. I haven't tried everything yet, and even when I had, one probably wouldn't cover everything. Sound Familiar?

I would tend to use HPFs and amp eqs to protect drivers/amps and clean up the on stage/ rehearsal sound. If I have to use the onboard DI, it'll be pre-EQ if possible. I favour outboard preamps for instrument tone manipulation, and it's their DI I'd rather send to the desk.

I favour 45-100 anyway, but was pleased when my Bongo turned up wearing 32-45-65-80-100-130. Perfect. As you can tell, it's generally my gauge of choice, but fewer manufacturers do the "jybrid" gauge. Most have moved to 45-65-85-105.

Uh... That box isn't a 1153 carcass. I had a H122smx combo, and it was slimmer than a 2103h and slimmer than the 1153 upon which it often stood. Same drivers (originally) in the combos as the cabs, but the ports are shorter. Reasons for shallower box? Twofold. 1) You'd never find the connections on the rear of the amp even in daylight; they'd be buried 5" into the sleeve in which the amp sits 2) That TE Achilles' heel. Weight. The H122smx was already brutally heavy. Any more MDF and no one would be able to move it at all.

Definitely an approach I favour. I love a bass as much as the next person. Unfortunately, I tend to view amps as a tool for a job, and that makes it difficult to justify splashing the cash on the Emperor's New Clothes in the amplification world. Result- an old 4u rack containing a Korg DTR1000, an ancient Ampeg SVP-PRO and a Markbass Club Series S450. Does a pristine clean, A warm clean and all the way to flat out dirty. Cab is a Schroeder 21012L. It'll take 1000w @ 4 Ohms. Weighs a smidge over 40lb. Last time anyone commented on it, they said "Looks old..." Maybe not ultra-modern, but it blew him across the room readily enough.

(Not having read the rest of the thread..) Are the 3x10 going to be 2x10 (8 Ohm) in series themselves in parallel with a 16 Ohm 1x10 all in one box? That'd give a nominal 8 Ohm impedance, allowing a separate 1x10 (8 Ohm) to be used in parallel as permitted by most amps having a ~4 Ohm minimum load.. Edit- Nope. 3x 12 Ohm drivers for a 4 Ohm cab. Adding another cabinet isn't happening without another amp to drive it, or something that can stretch down to 2 Ohm loads.

We went to Glastonbury once. It was a deeply frustrating experience, we hated it and left. The festival wasn't on at the time. I can only imagine it to be like a special eighth circle of Hell when it is.

Nice. Not dissimilar to the Fortress Flashback from many years ago. That was frequently green with a pearly plate.

If you're stacking them, maybe put the 8 Ohm on the top? It'll be closer to ear level and that might help compensate for any perceived difference in SPL.

It's a possibility. I do leave them plugged in but switched off, so spikes / surges may cause damage. Not had issues with any other electrical items.

The K&M stand is expensive for what it is, and heavy. BUT it has been bomb-proof in use. The whole set-up hasn't shifted an inch and doesn't move at all, even if your playing is heavy-handed. I do think it's too heavy to play live with. Not really collapsible, and very weighty. Shame the keyboard/synth that live on it aren't as good. The GK61 is ok, but too limiting in terms of functionality. It has been reliable, and sounds good in a mix. Just lacks adjustability. The synths have been a nightmare. On the face of it, well-made, but seem prone to malfunction in all sorts of ways. Because of their inherent complexity, fault-finding is a real issue. Worse still, the Argon8's manual was plainly written by a code monkey whose first language was Cobol. It assumes WAY too much knowledge on the part of the user. Criticism of this elsewhere elicited very different responses. One that the Argon/Cobalt manuals were superb (they're not) and another which was a link to the original 1971 version of the ARP 2600 manual. It's a huge manual, but explains EVERYTHING and assumes nothing. I was using it as a reference document until the A8x folded. At time of writing, it doesn't look like Modal Electronics are a functioning entity. Their main page, support and sounds library are almost permanently down, and the merch page pops up now and again. In spite of this, there's supposedly a Carbon8 in the works. Hopefully that won't lose its sparkle, but I won't be the one that finds out.

And... The Argon8 has gone south. And not just for the winter. I've completely lost the Arpeggiator and Sequencer. Neither will function in spite of a full power down, disconnect/reconnect and factory reset. Not only am I cursed, but I am done with these things.

Definitely vinyl. And maybe shape it as an homage to the SR4 control plate? I know the footprint of the original won't cover that cavity, but you could get close.

I had one. Was my gigging mainstay for 3 years or so. Never did like the tone that much. I believe I read somewhere that the pickups are in series (presumably each pair of coils) and I think that was the reason. I do regret selling it a bit. Maybe all it needed was rewiring to parallel or a pickup change to something that's parallel (assuming the series piece to be true)

Saw them a good while ago (00's) at The Brixton Academy. It was Halloween, and everyone had dressed up. Amazing gig- only disappointment being that Chris Chaney was on bass rather than Eric Avery. Navarro brought the place to a standstill twice- The solo in "Three Days", and again for "Jane Says". Good memories.

If I understand such things correctly, the 8Ohm 2x12 will draw twice as much current as the 16Ohm 1x18 due to its lower impedance. The overall load will be within your amp's tolerance, but be aware that the 1x18 may not be as noticeable as you might want, especially if it's underneath the 2x12. I'd experiment with EQ and how you stack/where you place your cabinets to see what works best.
