1. I'm fond of my Fortress Masterman (5) too. Cracking bass. I've only sold on a couple of basses , and then only ones that weren't getting enough use. I'd never sell a "keeper" to assuage my GAS..
 2.
never really thought of warwick having "big" bodies, always a moderate-moderately small (streamers to thumbs anyway) to be honest with you, unless you count the overall surface area?
It always seemed to me that the bodies get bigger (for a given shape) as they get more strings. My Streamer LX6 seems to have a much broader body than (for example) 4 string Streamers I've played. Anyone have any input on this? Had saved enough to buy a Thumb NT5 when buying my first "serious" instrument, but unfortunately I didn't get on with it as well as I'd hoped, so I bought something else. I do, however have an Infinity SN4, Fortress MM5 and the aforementioned Streamer LX6. Enjoy your new toy!
 3. Maple on 3TS Rosewood on Tobacco burst (with no regard for sonic contribution)
 4.
Or operate anything touchscreen/touchpad for the same reason.
You might be on to something there. I always attributed my issues with touch sensitive devices to low resistance caused by my sweaty mitts.
 5.
Bill Turnbull Pikachu Michael Mcintyre Theresa May R2D2 Jeremy Clarkson Yoda Susan Boyle Jedward Ashleigh and Pudsey I know technically that's twelve, but I just can't decide between them.
Loving that! Mine (but NOT virtuoso bassists) Cass Lewis Geezer Butler Tony Butler Tony Levin Herbie Flowers Cliff Burton Colin Moulding Les Claypool And er.... some others I haven't thought of yet...
 6. Own? Quite a few (13) Tried a lot to get there. Played? Sh*t loads Plenty still to go, though. Lots of stuff out there.
 7. In defence of Rob Trujillo.... Sod Metallica. Check out Suicidal Tendencies & Infectious Grooves. Only one bassist I've heard outclasses him for this sort of material, and that's the phenomenally un-shabby Cass Lewis. Sid Vicious was just a poster boy, surely, in spite of the notoriety. The rest did exactly what was required. And Jeff Ament? Seriously?
 8.
Good luck with being British!
Thanks! We'll probably need it!
 9.
Mate you should try a Status.... no difference at all between strings.
Which reminds me; A sympathetically chosen set of strings can make all the difference. (Sympathetic to both your playing style and the bass itself, of course.)
 10. And already, it has spun out-of-control..... IBTL
 11. But do remember, WPD is neither the absolute nor final arbiter of what is/is not funny.
 12.
For years, the most amazing players with fantastic techniques etc have gotten by with using 4's. The only thing that has changed now is the style of music and how it is reproduced. You should go for it if the music requires it. When I listen some contemporary rock tunes which use a 5 (or more) string, I hardly notice it as it becomes integral to the sound. But often I'll hear a piece of music in say gospel or funk styles and the bassist moves onto the B and I'll be like "oh that's a 5 string" and I find it distracting. I experimented with a 5er in one of my bands any my band-mates were like "yes, that's the sound". There was no turning back.... well... until I left the band. Then I was in a band who tuned to drop CGCF(AD) mostly, so a 5 string became utterly useless and I went back to a specially set up 4. I've seen bassists use the B as a thumb-rest right the way through the set on a 5er and it makes you wonder.... what's it there for, the (alleged) kudos? The transition is very easy.. unless you are one of those dearies who can't get on with a neck that's a smidge bigger or smaller than what you are used to.
"When I listen some contemporary rock tunes which use a 5 (or more) string, I hardly notice it as it becomes integral to the sound. But often I'll hear a piece of music in say gospel or funk styles and the bassist moves onto the B and I'll be like "oh that's a 5 string" and I find it distracting." Really? I don't mind too much if it gets beaten to death, but if a note lower than (low) E sneaks in, then that's fine, especially if it's used for emphasis or in a meaningful manner. "I've seen bassists use the B as a thumb-rest right the way through the set on a 5er and it makes you wonder.... what's it there for, the (alleged) kudos?" Maybe they don't need it in that band, but do in another. If the bass is nice, you're going to want to play it, irrespective of how many strings it has. Maybe it's the only bass they have. Fivers do make for a good all-rounder if you only own one instrument..
 13. I can't see why it was locked TBH. Feels a trifle draconian given that it wasn't causing any grief/offence. It's not like TIM hasn't reared his ugly head elsewhere on BC. I, too, feel the cloud of contention descending upon BassChat.
 14. We live close enough to one of the "V" sites for it to be a nightmare. Gridlock ALL weekend long. Town full of [s]hippies[/s] "music lovers"...and we give up a PUBLIC open space for someone else's profit/benefit, getting nothing in return but noise/congestion/aggravation. You get the idea. I'd never go to a festival, no matter who might be playing.
 15.
Modesty?
"Modesty would be dishonesty. If I were to say that I was being modest, how would you know if I were being dishonest or not?" - Orac (Blake's 7) As for the bass? Firewood, like Happy Jack said. It'd be easier to just burn £10 notes - you'd save on collection/postage costs.
 16.
I think people just generally use ferrules for necks with more than 4 bolts.
FWIW, Musicman don't.
 17.
You're out of TIM, it's already sold
But TIM is relative. And I'm getting confused from all this dipping in and out of the Space/TIM conTIMuum...
 18. My Dad suggested I take up an instrument when I was 19. I immediately asked for drums. That got vetoed, so I went for bass... the next bit goes just like this....
..... I was a huge Iron Maiden and Motorhead fan at the time (and still am, well, at least of Motorhead. I still love the early Iron Maiden (upto and including Seventh Son of a Seventh Son), so the Bass player was important in the music I was listening to....he thought it was a good idea and I got my first Bass, a Westone Raider I in Silver/Grey, that Christmas.....
...Right down to the Westone Raider 1, which I still own. Spooky!
 19.
But you do have the TIM to resurrect it after more than a year!
Is it really that long? How TIM flies!
 20.
Go to the shop. Play them all. Buy the one you like the best.
Yes. Go to the shop. Play every 5 string they've got, even if you weren't considering them. Something you try might just surprise you. It's worked for me in the past....
 21. They ain't all like that y'know!
 22. /runs away!
