1. NS design NXT 5 EUB. Tuned BEADG.
 2. My LX6 is not reassuringly heavy. It is a brute. BUT it has SD soapbars as standard (because MEC didn't make anything big enough in '97) and a 7 piece all-Wenge neck (8 if the fretboard counts) A brass JAN 1, the lot. In a 6-string shoot-out, only a Smith beat it. It laughed at the Tobias. The tone is superb. And the strap is W-I-D-E
 3.
headless. it's not a huge change, and statii don't look right with the head on
Precisely. Not to mention that the improvement in balance and reduction in momentum of the neck (due to not having the mass of a headstock dangling on one end of it) Might be a little bit odd to begin with, but you soon realise the benefits.
 4. Warwick seem not to care overly about the weight of their instruments. Only one of the 3 I have is even remotely sensible weight-wise. The Streamer LX6 is Maple-bodied, but as they scale the bodies up to match the necks, it's a beast at >14lbs! The Infinity SN4 is Chambered Zebrano. Feels like they filled the chambers with depleted Uranium. Superb tone, though. Wenge, (and Zebrano) Bubinga and Cocobolo are all very dense timbers. But they all look good, feel good, and contribute to a decent tone (body wood / tone arguments notwithstanding)
 5. When I lived alone, the Trace sat in a corner, and was plugged-in, ready to be used. With a wife and 2 kids, the head's under a chest of drawers and the cabs are in the garage. I use a Korg PX4d for practice, through a good set of closed-back Sennheiser headphones.
 6.
I really dislike the natural finish on mine. I think it cheapens the look. Think I would prefer the wood naked. Considered having it coloured (Black cos I'm not the tallest and it's a big body!) but at £90...the bass only cost £270 Still awaiting the arrival of a Babicz bridge.....5 weeks.....coming from the far.......far east....via a certain renowned London Bass shop...zzzz....zzzzzzzzz.......... refund!!!!
Don't hold your breath!
 7.
+1 I strongly prefer roundcore strings like DR Fat Beams and Newtone over hex core strings. Better intonation, better feel, better sound - IMHO of course.
Yup. This. I like roundcores, too.
 8. I have one of these. Awesome and hilarious in equal measure! Of the 300, weren't half black and half purple? Have a bumpski anyhow!
 9. I like T-40s. If I were in the market for something a bit older (80's) It'd be a toss-up between a T-40 and an Ibanez MC924 Musician (fretted)
 10.
Absolutely no flexibility with my employer whatsoever. A real pain working saturdays as well. If I were to work through my break all that would happen is I'd get knabbed to still work to the end of my shift. Booking days off is a real nightmare, last week I had to book my leave for next year, up until April 2013, and there is talk of limiting availability. I've recently turned down an audition with an originals rock band because I couldn't commit to the gigs, some too far off and a lot midweek. My employer takes the stance that we shouldn't have outside interests it seems.
This is me, but include childcare commitments and the sheer costs of rehearsals/ travel to rehearsals / gigs and you can soon see why I'm no longer in a band. I don't want to play in a covers/function/tribute band. I want to do originals, but that doesn't pay. I don't want to have my cake and eat it, I'd just like some cake. Please. Pretty Please.
 11. Perhaps, but that does nothing to detract from their being "works of art" (for want of a better expression) I'd rather that artists produced musical works for the sake of it (art) than to try and make money from it. It's not that I'm trying to deny them a living. I just think I prefer the motive of trying to make good music in the hope that someone will like it rather than making music just to make money. Not that the two are necessarily mutually exclusive.
 12. I liked mine. Unfortunately, the body cracked. I'd say it was on the light side of middling, but I never got around to weighing it. Balance and Ergo(dyne)nomics are good, which is often better than a lighter body any way. Try to see if it suits and I'd say buy with confidence if it's in good nick. Good strings help (as with all basses) I had DR Fatbeams on mine to good effect.
 13.
Hi, I just wanted to get some views from you guys who are all musicians....
I knew there was something that wasn't quite right in the OP...
 14. I'm no expert, but isn't it an American Deluxe Jazz (current) I base that on; High Mass Bridge, Pre-amp (4 controls), Blocks and binding, Noiseless Pick-ups. Guessing at (a ludicrous, but prices are these days) £1400 maybe a bit more. (RRP, new) Should still be being manufactured, so readily available. What would you get? Depends on the vendor. I was lucky to get a Fender swing-tag with my Jazz! Ideally, a case, and a bit of case candy (tags, a little user "info", maybe an imperial truss-rod allen key) Don't expect the full monty "Warwick experience", though...
 15.
Jaguars vanished from the fender site for a couple of years but now they are back on it listed as a Deluxe version so I'm guessing they were discontinued and are now back in production with a different spec. I believe the older jags were all Japanese? Mine is. Ye gods I need to learn how to spell again.
Indeed they did varnish. And spellcheck is your fiend, BTW
 16.
Ok let me walk you through it. Jack socket furthest away is just the P-pickup which only has a volume control. The one closest is just the neck pickup which has a volume and Tone. The knob closest to the neck is the Neck pickup volume. The middle knob is the neck pickup tone with either a push-push or push-pull knob depending on the age of your Attitude LTD II. This switch activates a high cut when active which removes top end for a "deep 60's" sound for when you want it. The knob closest to the bridge is the P-pick up volume and has a push-push or push-pull again depending on age which activates both pickups allowing you to run both through either jack socket. Edit: For complete desciption!
This is what mine does (and no pics of it this time!)
 17.
Current basses:- Vigier Passion - Monster tone... if you can find it. Most of the time you can't. String balance is poor, very very middley sound, so massive mid scoop and a huge dollop of bass is essential. Suits 12" cones I've found. Status 1000 (or maybe a 3000 I think) - Bizarre sound that carbon fibre lark, not for me at all. Can see how it's popular with the slap guys though. Very clanky and rattley
Really? I'd rate my Passion S3 V among the very best. Run the EQ flat, works a treat "as is" No, it hasn't got an overblown bass end, but it seems to sit right in any mix, live or recorded. Intonation's a pain with the Kahler bridge, though. The Streamline sounds amazing. Pity mine seems to be disintegrating- the fretboard's gone all weirdly discoloured/rough at the dusty end and the gel coat is cracked beneath the tuning knobs. Dunno why. Oh, and the intonation's a pig to do on that, too. And they're not made to take non-taper-cored E and A strings without filing the saddles.... Grrrrrr Ibanez EDB600. Super bass. Shame Luthite cracks irreparably at the slightest impact. Ibanez SRX700. Super bit of wood. Real shame they cut the corners on shonky pick-ups and a primitive EQ Iceni / Zoot. Never could get it to sound "right". Schoolboy manufacturing errors - no pick-up springs/foam at all. Intonation was hard to achieve with some strings/gauges. Neck had to be shimmed to get the relief right... Warwick Streamer LX 6. Weight. About 15lbs! Yamaha Attitude ltd 10th Anniversary BS Sig. Dives a little. For all the cunning jiggery-pokery, there aren't that many sounds/tones in there. It can't sing. Only shout. Fender Jazz. (MIA, 2004) Routes hidden under scratchplate. mystery circular route under there, too. Just. No. Need. Warwick Infinity SN4 Looks like a twiglet. Neck's still rough right up at the dusty end. Sounds enormous, though. Squier VMJ. Heavy.Crap pots. Shame. Wicked neck Ovation Acoustic. Sorry? Did someone speak? Don't they all suffer from this, though? I know! I'll plug it in and turn it up.... HOWLLLLLLLLLLLLL. Maybe not.
 18. Too close to Orsett for comfort, is that it?
 19. Tilbury has points of interest, like, er..................................................... Tilbury fort?
 20.
Where's Thurrock and is it any more accessible than Colchester?
Yes, but I'm not sure you'd want to "access" it. If you don't know where Thurrock/ Grays is, please be blissful in your ignorance... I've even played there 3 or 4 times..
 21.
+1 this annoys me.. I do feel about 99% if they are paying a musician, that musician gets taken seriously and if they are not paid that don't give a $hit. The venues that make money and the bands who entertian get nothing??? no thanks. If it's an interesting project maybe.
I've rarely been paid. I've frequently taken on "interesting" projects, but only ever end up dramatically out of pocket due to rehearsal and travel costs. Hell, I might even entertained someone once, but in this financial climate, if it don't put ££ in my pocket, take a few steps back, run up and jump, Sonny.
 22.
If nothing crap has happened to me or falling out on me from it happening to someone close to me, music doesn't really happen for me.
"Mister, just look up and you will see it coming down.." (Ben Harper)
 23. Welcome. Conversely, I have a good collection, but simply don't have the time or inclination to even touch them at the moment. Life's funny like that.
