Your Bass Journey - going nowhere without an amplifier!
Lfalex v1.1 replied to Gasman's topic in General Discussion
ProAmplifiers Demon 80w 1x12 Trace Elliot 1110 4x10 combo (?Series4) Trace Elliot 122HSMX and 1048h Ampeg SVP-Pro QSC PLX 1202 Now? Just the ProAmps Demon. The Ampeg is in a case in the loft. Until I can find a band (easier days than done, it seems), I've no use for a "big" amp -
Lower down the price scale (~£260?) Is the Zoom B2 Four. Due in Autumn 2023. Looks promising at the price.

If a cab has casters, leave it standing on them. Reason? They have a tendency to rattle when you play. Whether that's mechanically or acoustically generated is irrelevant. It's annoying!

I got the lot. Active pickups and EQ Passive pickups and Active EQ Passive with Passive tone Passive with no tone My current preference is for the last of these- in the form of a G&L SB-2 Tribute. That said, I love the Bongo 6 and Ibanez EDC 715. Common factor? Epic pickups.

Hot stages / sweaty hands / flatwound strings - a problem?

👍I had a fancy golf club one (bar towels are good also) that used to clip to the handle of a bass cab -
What's your 'Hey, the bass player's here' lick?

Captain Pugwash theme tune gets em every time. -
Are you suggesting that it's a Pope pre-amp? 😉

Pronounced like this guy. Except he's The Moog. The definite article.

And then there's EUBs....

Fresh air has helped. I've had the instrument hanging in a well-ventilated room. The case may well end up being left out in the sun when warmer weather comes. ! Just remembered! I put my Warwick in that case. I'd better retrieve it before that smells bad, too!

Except its not from the 80's

Be that a Stronglight chainset?

With the notable exception of so-called "Christmas Songs"

As per the title, recommend and discuss alternative bass choices for your favourite famous bassists based on... well, anything really! (Credit for this idea due to a picture of Tony Levin playing a Dingwall) I'll kick off with; Someone get Dave Ellefson (ex-Megadeth) a Musicman Bongo. I think the tone would suit him down to the ground.

Nor have I. Mk1 in my case, though.

As per @Waddo Soqable , I use a capo on a 4-string in D standard. Naturally, it frequently resides at the second fret for E Standard, but has been known to move further up, for "Barbarism begins at home", as an example, or if I need a pedal tone that's further up but out of reach unless I tap. Gives a good compromise that covers a lot of ground.

It'd be better if it were one of those little clip-on LED lamps, so you could play in the dark. And if it had a strobe mode... well, the possibilities are endless.

Felix!

Not a big FX user. But. There's a dogma that suggests that drives and distortions go before the pre (or head) and that modulation fx go in the FX loop ( IF there is one) However... do you envisage using the synth and distortion together? The synth will probably be wanting a nice, clean signal to help it track properly, so needs to go before the others if they're going to be used together.

If you don't like valves, you could get one of them fancy Nortons with a rotary engine.
