  1. That's crappy news 😔 Best of luck with the Op and recovery process... Someone suggested a bass uke. I tried a Kala U bass yesterday, and was surprised how good it was with its wee rubber strings. Otherwise, Chapman Sticks are hilariously light and can be played seated. They just take forever to learn to play well.
  2. To turn a BC (or was it BassWorld?) phrase; "I don't have TIM for this!"
  3. Find a piece of equipment that both you and your student can plug into simultaneously and play through together without having to adjust anything. A little mixing desk, perhaps. I got stuck with the active input of an amp while my teacher had the passive one. We both had active basses. Mine sounded crap and his sounded good. Even when we swapped. Tuition didn't last. Bass playing did. If you disenfranchise your students, they'll leave and/or give up.
  4. Oh. You missed the unsustainable final salary schemes the Boomers had that those who followed either had closed part way through or were denied completely. Boomers may have started "poor" and got richer, but later generations will start mediocre at best and get poorer. Not to worry. Life expectancy is beginning to fall, so it'll even itself out in the end 😉 I agree, though. Led by Donkeys. Or maybe Ostriches.
  5. Coming from a man who bought what you just did, that's quite a compliment! 😉
  6. The IR is the Markbass 4x10 The first FX is the Morning drive: Level 37% Tone 87% Drive 56% Reverb is Room Decay 19% Level 73% Tone 7%
  7. By way of return, I'll put my favourite up. I can't do it now. Seems you can't change patches in the app if you're not connected to the Nux itself.
  8. Still liking mine. Its my go-to for practice. If it had a bulit-in tuner and physical gain/volume controls, it'd be excellent. As it is, it's still very good indeed.
  9. Nine Inch Snails Irony Maiden Vanilla Lice No-Sync KFC and the Sunshine Band
  10. I've almost got the full set of Ergodynes. I still need the 2 pick-up EDC (700/705) I think they'll be the closest I'll get to an L-Bow, though!
  11. Every time I open a flight case. Though a have had (and do have) quite a few Ibanezezezs.
  12. Ah, I'd love to get hold of one of Heiko Hoepfinger's instruments. He's an interesting chap, really dedicated to trying to improve the instrument, even if some of his innovations are too left-field for some. Well done on the acquisition. Bet it's excellent. The L-Bow would be my first choice, too. Not ugly. More like a refined Bauhaus approach. Not as mininalist as the Steinberger nor as reductionist and under-developed as something like a Born2Rock.
  13. At last. Flowers and Voorman. And for me, Alphonso Johnson, Bruce Thomas and Tony Butler. Though, in fairness, I'm scratching around looking for names that haven't already been mentioned.
  14. Lovely, but my acidic sweat would not have a positive effect on the silver around the inlays...
  15. Exactly. Given the state of things financial, discretionary purchases are a big no-no. It's essentials only for the foreseeable future.
  16. I'm heading to BD next year. I guess I'll find out whether I picked the right shop on the right day. If not, there's always Bass Bros, Andertons and the classifieds on here. Not all in the same "category" of bass selling, but the end result will hopefully be the same. NBD. (Or it won't. NNBD)
  17. Haven't watched the video, but I'll warrant (not a hair metal reference) that the excellent PAW were also omitted.
  18. Back OT, and minus the stuttering Internet, Everything everyone else has said; SR5, Bongo HH, Dingwalls, Warwicks ... etc. Coil switching options and active/passive switching really can alter the character of a bass. Ultimately, try before you buy!
