1.
To be fair it was from a pre-selected list of popular albums they regularly played; only one appearance by any artist allowed - and no greatest hits types.
So Macca gets in three times?
 2. And if the polepiece to string alignment DOES bother you... P pickups with blades are available..
 3.
Personally, selling a bass that you really, really like just to get a bass that you may like seems a bit silly. Given that its also a terrible time for selling stuff I would hold onto it and save up for a 6 string. Once you have the 6 you can decide what to do with the 5.
This is good sense. Do this! I have a Fortress MM5 and a Streamer LX6. I also use a Pandora... Spacing on sixes can be an issue. The LX6 is about 16.5mm. Quick with fingers. Clumsy when slapped. Well, when I'm driving it is!
 4. I have never and will never use couriers to transport any of my stuff. When selling, I always stipulate collection in person. When buying, I'll collect myself, partly because I want to try items for myself before I buy, but mainly because I'll take care of them in transit. I feel for you.
 5.
I would love to see some ( all ) of the audition videos they get for this gig ! The X Factor will pale by comparison , I expect .
If they're on youchoob, a quick search ought to turn up a few...
 6. Completely agree with that! I know Carrie Melbourne had a purple one at some point, but don't know which model. I love the way you can get a slightly more nasal tone using the pan pot to favour the bridge coil, then beef it up a bit by adding what would otherwise be too much bass eq to the neck coil. They sound better with the pan pot off- centre, as there's less cancellation between the coils. Only downside- a bit of hum sensitivity when it's not dead-centre.
 7. Can't sing and play UNLESS the vox are on the off- beat! Can talk and play as long add it doesn't get to metaphysical. I can, however, watch a film whilst practising... With the sound down, reading the subtitles.
 8. Damn good choice. I bought a Fortress Masterman 5 a while back (’97, though) Excellent instrument. Cost just over £500, and the number of variations around the basic core tone are almost infinite. Just can't fault mine. Enjoy.
 9.
Would I be able to use an Ampeg SVP Pro with my Hartke 3500 head? Sorry I'm probably sounding like a complete and utter noob-nugget right now..
If you do, you may wish to plug it in via the return of the Hartke's fx loop. That'll bypass the Hartke's own pure and eq completely. Did it with my SVP pro and a Trace head, and it worked rather well.
 10.
I've got a Crafter Electro acoustic - nice bass, but don't think it will compete with the acoustic 6 stringers that your mates will be playing...acoustic basses are notoriously quiet...
Absolutely this. And if you do amp it up, get a soundhole plug to reduce feedback. And then there's the issue with getting a case or bag for the thing. Sold my Ovation last week for all of these reasons. It was in perfect condition after 15 years' ownership. I think that says something. So does the fact that I'm not missing it at all.
 11.
Whats the best GAS stopping policy on basschat ?
Charging for ads
 12. I'm surprised it didn't surface sooner!
 13.
I wonder what he thinks of this?
Wow! A lefty! PS. Wasn't one of Rickenbacker's founders called Adolph?...
 14.
I know what notes I`m playing, but never know what scale, or if it`s a major or minor key, I just play the notes that sound right.
Completely the other way around for me. Apart from the last bit
 15.
Stay with it they are an amazing bass to own, I love mine it's 20 years old this month & it's still a buzz every time I play it.
Sounds like you need it setting up if there's buzzing every time you play it! That, or you've got a dodgy earth somewhere...
 16.
To compound this further, even with the poles in the correct place, unless the pickup follows the curve of the neck / string heights then they are going to be different anyway (the middle strings being further away). The P-Bass design overcomes this, but the J-Bass design does not. My Ric copy has a 6-pole pickup at the neck and output seems fine for what its worth (a bit lacking in treble but thats another thing)...
There are some fixes for these issues, but they're not used in the original Fender pickups. Stuff like adjustable polepieces, curved blades for polepieces and so on..
 17. Well... I saw ST Testament Megadeth Slayer In that order in 1990 at Clash of the Titans. And actually, they were all good. Testament were the best in terms of performance and all- round ability. I also agree with the comments about Exodus, and would add that Overkill are too often over...looked.
 18.
Try a Yammy before buying. Not everyone gets on with all basses. I love Jazzes - except in my hands. But if you like the Yammy, well they certainly can`t be faulted for sound, playability or build quality, pretty exceptional in all categories.
Including price in the case of the 2024x / 2025x, unfortunately.
 19. Hmmm. What, then, of those who stump up the £14 for listing two items which then fail to sell. That's a fair amount to be out of pocket without having sold anything at all... Will PMs be subject to scrutiny to prevent any deals taking place outside of the marketplace environment? What if you list something at £60 and you are haggled down below the £50 threshold? That penalises the naive, ill-informed and just plain optimistic potential vendors. You've just lost over 25% of your expected return. Charging someone 0.2% of their revenue from a Ken Smith sale is one thing. Charging someone 1.0% of their revenue from a MIA Fender is another Charging someone 10% of their revenue from flogging a hard case or FX pedal is yet another. There's a real danger that mid-price items will become an unattractive proposition to sell here, and that will be to the detriment of the entire community. [/devil's advocacy]
 20. I don't care how many strings it has. Somewhere between 3 and 7 would be better for me. And frets. Somewhere between 20 and 36 (excluding any zero fret) will be OK.
 21.
Slayer are the only one of the big 4 that I've never gotten into, I have respect for the career they have had, but just don't like their music Is there something wrong with Lombardo that has caused him to be replaced? He is a monster of a drummer.
He probably doesn't get any writing credits, and, as such, as smaller slice of the band's royalties. He probably makes more when they tour. Common issue for drummers who don't get a share of the writing monies... Hence the "ripped off" part...?
 22. Check out.... G&L ASAT (semi) Hollowbody Parker Fly Bass.
