South East Bass Bash No.7, Surrey, Saturday 21st September 2013
So who's going to bring a few of those instruments with a shorter neck and six puny strings tuned in a silly way? We'll need them for the jam room...
I can possibly fit a small amp and guitar in the car for others to play if there is a need for it? -
I'd be up for that ;-) haha
-
Yeah great feel and style, love the sound of the trio. Three great musicians.

How do you stop your lightweight amp from wandering off?
StephenYork replied to a topic in General Discussion
As with most bass players I know, I usually have the PA desk on top of my amp. -
Best way to tell the wife..... ' I've just bought a new bass !'

I'm currently in the process of acquiring another bass, it has taken me about 4months so far. I'm building my own so it comes in parts. Spending a little at a time. Granted I've only spent about £70 so far. My Mrs doesn't really mind as long as I've got the money spare, I gig enough to save easily for a new instrument, but with a wedding on the horizon there's not a great deal of spare cash! -
Sorry to resurrect a thread. I was wandering around the land of Youtube for gigs to watch, I thought I would chance listening to Larry Carlton for an hour. My word Travis can play! If you've got an hour to kill take a look, great sound and feel from the trio. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuN6EcoKvX4 Also I'd love to know if anyone with a Moog MF-101 can get that bass sound at about 22mins in?

This is my Ibanez SR505, she has served me well over the years and has the marks to show it. She's not quite as pristine as others but she is mine.
-
I'm a lefty who plays right handed, just thought it was more natural that way.
i then to have the problem that my tshirt hangs between bass and belt. The belt is fine but the amount of tiny holes I get in my tshirt drives me mad
It's nice to know I'm not the only one to get holes in my Tshirt from this. I've never had trouble with bucklerash because my bass/guitar doesn't sit that low -

Cheers for the recommendations, will hopefully check them out soon. Anyone fancy buying either of these? Or an 80's Crybaby?

This is my current gigging board for both bass and guitar, though I'm not 100% happy with it. Need to swap the British pedal out for something else, probably a VT Bass or Microtubes but have yet to decide on that. Also the compressor sucks with bass so probably gonna get a separate board for guitar and get some mooer pedals or similar to keep me happy. Also want to get a Chorus, maybe instead of the compressor, any recommendations? I like the look of the Corona and the Mooer but not had a chance to play either yet. Signal goes: Bass > British > Bright Onions looper (Side A > Bassballs > Octaver) (Side B > compressor) > Amp

Got a Bright onions looper off JMM this week. Great guy to deal with, arrived within two days and got a free patch lead. Well packaged and just as described. Highly recommended

Depped for a band a couple years back called "Fat Men Are Harder To Kidnap". I looked a bit odd being a 10st beanpole -

I have been very lucky and know lots of guys with different and quirky basses. The top 5 basses is have played so far and then the top 5 I would l love to play. Top 5 I have played 1# GMR Flow In 5 (the one on the website) just an amazing sound, balance, feel and look. 2# My Alpher Instruments 5 string - my custom made beauty, how could this not be in my top 5. 3# GB Spitfire (BigJim's custom) again an amazing bass, only let down by the gold coloured hardware. 4# Rickenbacker 4003 - borrowed this for a gig down in Minehead and I loved it, was really punchy and easy to play 5# Cort Fretless - I don't know what the model is but I borrowed this bass off a friend for a couple months and it played fantastic and had a cracking sound, never been able to find a fretless that played like it. Top 5 I would like to play 1# Paul Turners 70's Fender Jazz - that white jazz has always been top of my list to try, just the look and sound is great 2# Dingwall - Always been intrigued by the fanned frets 3# Nice Fender P Bass - Always struggled to find one I can get on with but have had some serious GAS to get on of these recently 4# Warwick Streamer - tried a thumb and corvette and enjoyed them but never got my hands on a streamer 5# Fodera Janek Gwizdala Signature - These look great and I probably can't do it justice but still fancy it There's a couple others I would still love to play but they are not up there by these

I joined The Natalies (Covers band) back in October. Rather enjoyed it so far.

I used to get my Markbass 2x15, 2 basses, 4unit hard case, 2 PA tops, 2 monitors, desk and 2 bags of cables, plus a passenger in my 1994 Renault Clio, with room to spare! I don't know how but it still got me there! I don't recommend the Citroen C4, the boot load in is wide and tall but the shape and space inside is not great, it's a real squeeze to fit the same amount of gear in just because of the trim in the car. My drummer has a Vectra and it really swallows up the gear with the seats up.
