1.
Thanks for the comment, I'm glad other people like it as much as I do! I disagree with it not being a gigging amp though because I've used it comfortably at small venues as a 5 piece so I guess its how you want to sit in the mix really =D
normally so I can be heard!!!!!!!!!!
 2.
Last time i was on a Forum (6 years ago), it was thought quite rude to keep bumping your own gear, but i've noticed some people doing it over 5 times a day!?!? On that basis, i deem it thoroughly acceptable, and so....here's my bump, that i am no longer ashamed of......I'll apologise now, in advance, for any future bumps, of a similar nature. Thanks Oh, and will someone buy my bass, it gets cheaper every day...
who bumps their thread 5 times a day?
 3.
I'm goingto start a thread... "why does no one buy anything" They are buying just not what you're selling.
I think Geofio started a thread like that and got promptly slated BC style hahaha
 4. My first ever bass was a Kay P-bass copy. I made comment that I wanted to play bass when I was about 18. My brother-in-law said he had this lying around his house. He gave the bass as a freebie however being a good guy I gave him a bottle of Gordons Gin in exchange. I WAS ROBBED. However I never really took up bass way back then, all I did was learn a few riffs and that was it. Moving about 8years on I bought a vintage V940 as I got a new lease of life for learning bass. Lovely introduction to bass however again I still didnt bother learning it hahahaha. Finally about 5 years on I started to learn bass. Got rid of the vintage and bought brand new my Jag.
 5. Or try bumping it more often.....the 3 a day may not be enough hahaha.
 6.
Or have a mudbucker, precision split and a jazz like my old Telecaster bass had,13lb of bass heaven.
that sounds pretty awesome. Any pics of it and where is it now?
 7. hmm to be its just a used bass. Will it improve my playing... NO Will I play like the last owner... NO Will it be over priced just because some famous chap used it... YES Im not knocking it...But its just a used bass and not that pretty either!!
 8.
So.... Is the RIC for sale yet?
Nah, I think unless a nice tele bass or something that really floats my boat comes along. I know I could always get another if the mood takes me. But as I dont need the cash I dont see a need to sell it unless a REALLY nice bass comes along.
 9.
Steve can have a loan of my P bass for a few weeks if you want. It`s a bit of a hybird, Squier body, Jap neck, US pickup, status flats but it sounds like a P should. I just use it as a back up but you are welcome to borrow it. Jez
Nice one buddy. I may take you up on that offer. I feel that moving on the aerodyne I had to make way for the bongo was a huge mistake and all I really needed to do was sort the wiring and maybe upgrade the P-pups. Well I guess I do have a grand invested in the Ric. Sell that, buy a P/J bass and have a few quid left over for prostitues erm I mean massages.
 10.
I don't see it as a case of being used to the jag, so you can't fit with the RIC. I moved the jag on after I got a stingray as the stingray just fitted me better, the neck, pickup position, overall sound. And I had the jag for nearly a year and played it exclusively. It was a case of no matter what I played it wasnt a jaguar so didn't fit the bill. Now it's a case of it's not a stingray it won't fit the bill. ATM I'm feeling that I'm extremely happy with what I have, so anything else is just going to be in the way.
I agree what your saying Stephen, but its just because ive wanted one of these for so long that I hate the idea of letting it go hahaha. Im trying to get a cheap gibby bass sorted the noo also or a MIM fender. If I get one of these basses and I love it straight away then I know the Ric aint for me.
 11.
bump & open to offers!
If those offers are in the 250 region then im in:-)
 12.
The Doors never used a bass player, all the bass parts were done on the organ but still a marvellous band nonetheless!
massive fan of the doors also. But they use bassists in their recordings.
 13.
Maybe they just like them.
+1 why does it have to be an issue what these folk use? I prefer my fender to my Ric,,,,,,,does that make me a sheep?
 14.
It never ends. I've gone through maybe 40+ basses over the last ten years in an endless search for nirvana, and never find it. If you have a bass in your possession, in your case the Jag, that you really connect with, hang on to it with all your might. I've let "keepers" slip through my fingers when I'm overcome with GAS, and regretted it ever since. I've actually gone full circle from when I first joined the forum years ago and ended up back on a Stingray as my main bass, so maybe I should just stop there, but I doubt it. As far as your Ric goes, there's no point in having a quality bass gathering dust, if it aint your bag, as much as you want it to be, maybe you should move it on. I really wanted to love my Sadowsky, Overwater, ESP, etc etc but it just didn't work out with them, so away they went, and I'm back on a Stingray once again. If you can afford to have a nice investment bass sitting in its case unused, keep the Ric. If you can't, ship it out.
Yeah I am in 2 minds of what to do. The jag is a keeper. I nearly moved it on a few times in a fit of gas,,but thankfully the good folk of BC reminded me of my love for it. So in no way will I be losing a bass that I feel comfortable with. I think im quite lucky that I found a bass to keep so early and its really nice having the liberty of a higher end bass that I can trade/sell which allows me to try out most things out on the market. So depending on what I do I guess its a win/win for me
 15.
+1. I don't understand why the people who don't get on with Rics (or any other bass for that matter) feel like there's something peculiar about that. I don't get on with most basses out there. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the basses, all it means is I don't get on with them. Many people think Fenders and Fender-alikes are the most comfortable basses out there but I find them frighteningly uncomfortable. However that doesn't make everyone else wrong. Everyone is different and both aesthetically, sonically and ergonomically may therefore require something different. I don't understand what's so difficult to grasp about that. It's like somebody with size 12 feet saying "wow, these size 9s cost £500 but they're really uncomfortable. My £30 size 12s are way better!"
My only issue is that I'm a bit deflated that after wanting one for so long that I don't get on with it!! I am VERY reluctant to move it on though. So my master plan is to use it as my only bass. Stick the jag under the bed and play the ric only.... Surely the only reason I don't get on with the ric is because I'm so used to the jag?? With basses in the past I have moved them on as soon as they get fingerprints on them hahaha but the ric is freakin awesome. So I will put in the extra effort and hope everything sorts itself out.
 16.
Want to trade for a big al? Although I've just gone through this as you know with the BA.
Funny enough Stephen I do fancy one of the big al's. But seeing the Bongo and stingray didn't really float my boat I have just put musicman as a brand that I don't get on with.
 17. I have been playing the Ric now as my main noodling bass and rehearsal bass and still cant connect with it. The Jag reigns supreme. So what do I do? move on the bass that I have lusted for for so long? or keep it as a show piece! I said to the wife that I should never have got it as the dream is never as good as the reality hahaha.
 18.
Apologies for the fact that at the time of writing I'm under the influence of a bottle of Arbelour, but my Gretch Thunderjet was rubbish. It looked like a work of art, it really did, but played and sounded like a piece of driftwood. Does that help? Probably not, sorry.
Hmmm I have rehearsals tomorrow at 12 so i have stuck with a 2litre of cider (those at the moffat bash will know i love my 2litre bottles ) Is the thunderjet the solidbody or the hollowbody? The one I tried was the hollowbody!!!!
 19.
Here's a BassLine now f*** off before I call the Fuzz and no it's f***ing natural.
what???????????
 20. Ok chaps, Looking for some info on the Gretsch basses out there and specifically the gretsch synchromatic. Does anyone have one and is this a decent bass to own??? I have read they are small and ideal for kids. However just wondering if a 'full' grown man would also happily have one in his collection. Further more I have recently tried a Gretsch Broadkaster....Now to me this is a work of art and sounds amazing. I instantly asked the fella if he would take my ric in a swap. He said he would think about it.............Until then I think I will have sleepless nights
 21. Fenders are good. P-basses are lovely. Those 51R basses give me a stirring in my panties
 22.
Won this on e-bay, sort of inadvertantly. Cost me £330 - it's yours for £320 Fab condition Korean made 2006 - double action legendary MFD pick ups - amazing sound, amazing power and sweet maple fingerboard. A few un-photographable scuffs right on top of headstock, otherwise great condition. I've owned a USA made L2000 and then this, and there seems hardly any distinguishable difference. The L2000's made in the Far East, of which this is one, are fitted with all US parts and play brilliantly. 3 toggles: pre-amp treble boost/pre-amp/passive option series/parallel pick up selector 3 knobs: Bass boost/cut Treble boost/cut Volume PICTURES BELOW http://www.flickr.com/photos/49793253@N07/...57626641107131/ Check my excellent feedback
thats stunning buddy, All the best with your sale
 23.
Up for trade is my "little" Peavey Max 115 combo. Great rehearsal/small gig amp which I've owned from new for around a year now. Got a really nice grunt too it but is sitting unused next to my Ampeg so its got to go! I'm mainly interested in 2x10 cabs (like an Ashdown) but I could be persuaded by a Fender rack tuner or a 4u rack head some cash my way. Feel free to make me an offer with what ever you want! I'm based half an hour from Norwich =) Dan Edit: Pictures when I next go to my guitarists but might not be a week cus he's away.
They are decent amps dude. I had one for a while. However I wouldnt really put it down as a gigging amp unless its an acoutic set your gigging. These dont really stand up to a drummer. But they are cracking amps and do what Peavey do I guess.
 24.
Man, I'm shocked! These really are tone machines!
See thats the problem I had with the bongo.....it was a total tone monster....it turns out I am a simple man of simple needs and a 4 band eq was too much for me hahaha. However I can totally dig why folk would go for these kinda basses as they are a 1 stop shop for all your bassy needs
 25. with my ric and Jag im bass gas free. Im in the market for a cheap but pretty decent backup that I would be using when I stand in at the local jam. Amp wise I want the orange bass terror rig ideally the 2x12 cab with it. But I rarely even use my Markbass combo so I think I will hold off until I am gigging more and get more of a feel for the MB combo for now. So Yeah I would say im gas free and long may it last.
