1. Tom what the hell are are you trying to do to us!! My budget is 250.... Off to raid the wee fellas piggy bank hahaha.
 2. thought my ears were burning hahaha. Yes Jez and Prime are right, I love my Jag. They do have issues with this humming, however find me a bass with such tonal options for the price that wouldnt. The buzzing can be sorted as long as you ground the bass properly. However getting all the cavity walls shielded pretty much sorted mine out. They are lovely machines though and a little buzz in no way should put you off one of these truely amazing basses. The preamp gets slated, but I am more than happy with it. Its quite crude, however due to the amount of thump and twang that it can produce I just find it hard to get a bad sound out of it. Its ment for rock n roll and thats what it does best.
 3.
After failing for a fair while to find a band I felt I wanted to put my efforts into, and leaving my originals band very promptly AGAIN after a disastrous tour, it was about time something went right. Ive been practicing for 3 weeks for a drummer I know from my school days, and we are backing an acoustic artist. At first we stuck to the songs as they were recorded, but we all quickly realised putting our own spin on it worked better. So its almost like covers, but slightly rewritten for acoustic/bass/drums. Obviously the main sections and vocals are still there. We also have a few of our own songs that are creeping in. At the moment its only a 1 hour set, but the guitarist goes out on his own doing upto 30 songs, so basically once we are upto speed we will have plenty of material. Not only that, we want to incorporate his electric guitar on a few tracks just to give it a little more 'ummpph' on the tracks that it works well on. Working in a band with 3 people in total is so much easier! We practice for free in the drummers sound proofed garage, so its such a good setup! First gig last night. I was told it was a charity event, and they had sold 700+ tickets. I didnt know what to expect. As it was a breast cancer charity event, they had basically changed a farm building into a huge pink stage/bar/function area, and the actual look of the event was extremely professional! I couldnt believe it was our first gig as a band. Anyway, I could go on for hours. It was absolutely brilliant. Our guitarist had to help out because one of the bands 'pulled out', so he went on first as a solo artist. Then, he went back on with myself and the drummer. As soon as we started, the place erupted! I literally couldnt believe how well we went down, plus we barely made any mistakes. Every dancing/singing along was a great feeling after all the rubbish ive been through in my last few bands. We got more bookings, and a non-bassist complimented my playing....which was a great confidence boost. By the way, I used the headlining bands amp (a Hartke Head/4x10). The Hartke sounded DAMN fine, I was impressed. I can see why they get praise. The 4x10 was overkill though, I couldnt get it quiet enough because of the volume taper! I think a 1x12 would have happily worked for the band....GAS!
Sounds amazing Gareth, really jealous buddy (in a good way of course)
 4. what was with the bunch of nobs Metronomy with the lights on their chests???? the only things I can remember about them is this little quirky bit of wardrobe they have. Not good And that James Blake,,,,did he even want to be there? No feel and no presence. However I was totally blown away by R Kelly, I was never a fan but by god that man has soul. What a voice and showman. Total class and a pleasure to watch.
 5. If your looking for a quick sale then I have 200notes waiting to be spent brother
 6. Ok bit of an update and quite suprised at how things have sorted themselves out. First up my original audition fell through due to my family commitments and the fact that the bands rehearsal time didnt tie in when I was free. Bit of a shame but hey ho. So I now have another audition lined up and to be honest its all sounding quite exciting. They seem to be a good bunch of guys doing good old pub rock /blues tunes. On the back of this the band organiser further emailed me and asked would I be interested in a side project with him and a female singer he knows as he thinks they will be gigging very quickly and needs a rhythm section!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES I said,,,,,,,,if it gets me gigging then I will sign up. So this Further more I was down at the local jam where I know all the guys. They said to me that they were looking for a stand in bassist for last night however forgot all about me as I rarely get down to the pub these days. They apologised and took my number and advised if I want to then I will be the backup bassist. Pretty sweet as it again gets me out but not every weekend. So I took over as bassist last night for the jam band the bassist they had didnt realy mind as he wasnt sure of the tunes (either was I, but I like to bluff it) and im sure he still got his cash at the end of the night. So I am now in the market for a MIM P-bass at the 200-250 mark as I wont be letting anyone touch my Jag as it has too much value to me as a bass and no way am I taking my Ric due to its actual value. So all very exciting and fingers crossed something comws from it all.
 7. Thanks chaps I appreciate the words of wisdom cheers I am popping over to check it out tomorrow so fingers crossed
 8. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/fender-p...n-bass/79052230 by looking at this, can anyone confirm its a 80's P-bass??
 9. I may also be interested in some hybrid amp rigs that may be out there other than Orange. Must have valve preamp and MUST be loud. Lightweight and compact is also a huge advantage Or £650 straight sale.
 10.
As a drummer, I assure you, I'm as confused as you are! I've never seen anything like that before!
I wonder how much he would take off if I tried to haggle. even if he takes it down by a million or two I think I may still struggle to buy it!!!!

 12. Audition has just fallen through due to our shedules just wont match up for rehearsals and the dancettes have a bassist. Back to the drawingboard........ My brother-in-law (drummer) and I have been considering a motown/blues/rock'n'roll genre based band. Could be interersting if it takes off. Just need a band!!!!!!!!!
 13.
I've been out of a band for 2 years or so. However, I'm just starting writing songs and getting a band together. I was in Berkeley2 on Friday and met a few guys in the corridor I used to play covers with, I think they said they were looking for a bass player again. You could ask them if you're interested in covers and weddings. http://www.thedancettes.co.uk It's not much fun being out of a band, but I am a better bass player for it. Hope it all comes good for you mate. Ralph
nice one Ralph thanks for that buddy. PM coming your way.
 14.
Why do people have a problem with that? If it's fretless it is fretless, anyone who even knows what a fretless bass is would be able to tell by the playing so what does it matter?
because folk like to tell you why the CANT buy the items for sale...........if you cant buy it,,then is there any real point in messing up threads telling us why??????
 15. These are really lovely looking basses. In saying that, its only pics ive seen and ive been told they are even more amazing in the flesh. The finish on these are 2nd to none and this looks like a great example of one. The tonal control is also something folk have raved about. The price your selling at is so competitive (I think that sounds less crude than its very cheap hehe). So all the very best with the sale.
 16. great price for a great product. I have one and feel they look amazing, very practical and they provide good support also.
 17.
Trigger's broom?
hahaha had the same broom for years,,,,,only had a few replacement heads and a few replacement handles hahahaha priceless
 18.
You know what they say. Any old port in a storm You never know if the rest of the band are good craic and the gigs are good you might surprise yourself.
hahahaha. Thats the way im looking at it. Hopefully not knowing anyone and the excitement of the experience will stop me thinking about the poor song choices (in my opinion of course).
 19.
so how did I feel, confused,
i feel a bit like that with your post buddy hahahaha
 20. 'found in fathers attic' and 'Iknow nothing about guitars' alarm bells wooo wooo wooo
 21.
Time spent learning new material is never time wasted. Just do it. Hmmm ... that would make a great slogan y'know.
I like it Jack, good words of advise buddy
 22.
Time to work on that epic bass solo album you've been telling yourself you'll do if only you had the time away from your busy band schedule!
23. WELL, I have an audition in a few weeks with a band ( I dont waste no time). Now then, they gave me a list of a few tunes they are doing and I wouldnt say they are the kinda tunes I would choose to normally do as they just dont float my boat. They arent too far away from my usual stuff but not quite there. I now dont know if its worth letting this one by and holding out for something that I instantly click with. Or go along and try it anyway which means learning about 13 songs that I have to learn from scratch and barely know to listen to!!!!!!
 24.
That's a shame mate. It's normally .......................> Johngh It took me the best part of 18 months to get set up with a half decent band again, very happy with the current band though. Good solid foundation to build on. Stick in there though, it's all too easy to give up.
cheers buddy. Think I will be more selective next time I join a band though. The singer was into sh*t like, Just Jack and paulo Nattini, the guitarist was a pure thrash metalist and me and the drummer are rock/blues. It just didnt work.
