Hey chaps thanks for the wise words and unexpected support. BC is the best Im not really a singer though folks but I know that I could make a decent frontman. The singer will be back on Sunday so im put back to Mr no mic hahahahaha. But i did love singing the tunes. So I aint going to give up and will definitly keep up the practice (in secret mind!!!!!!) I find it hard though to keep the power in my voice when I try to go for higher notes, maybe i should start working on what keys I can sing in, however I would feel like an idiot asking my guitarist to transcribe at next rehearsal i stand in!

So its approx 10am this morning and getting ready for rehearsals 12-3. My brother phones me to let me know the singer isnt making it due to back trouble. So for some reason its left up to me to get all the lyrics printed off and have them for us at rehearsal as the singer has the last batch I printed off. So we have 2 guitarists, drummer and myself in the studio thinking,,,,sh*t, whos going to sing. So we decide,,,lets have fun, live band karaoke. What a laugh we had, some real hit'n'misses during the course of the 3 hours but really was worth it. Im not a singer and in no way would I ever put myself forward for being a singer (this aint ego talking and im actually being all modest and stuff,,,I have heard myself and im quite flat ) but by god i wanted to try them all, and secretly I bleedin loved it. So yours truely basically hogged the mic for best part of our time in the studio. I had to give up the bass for a few of them like fire and good times bad times, but mainly played and sang which is something I never do. So initially it was a pisser that the singer backed out at the last minute,,but it gave us a real buzz to do the singing and had a bloody good laugh whilst doing so. I will now be secretly concentrating on playing and singing just incase this problem arises again and I will be more confident and relaxed . I wouldnt admit it to the other guys in the band but I feel like BC'ers can keep a secret hahahaha

Hola my good good people, So just picked up an ampeg 250H and matching 2x10portabass cab on Friday. Recently i have been really hankering for some of this boutique lightweight ampage. Ive heard great things about the markbass combos/rigs and the orange new line bass terror and matching cabs. However due to the high retail price and not being able to try them out before i buy them 2nd hand, this has been the bloody thorn in my side. So as an ampeg user I was very interested when I happened to read an old thread regarding the sale of an ampeg portabass rig.. So after a quite a few emails to our very own Mr Bassman i am now the proud owner of this rig. So today was my first chance to try it in anger at rehersals. I would say at times i can be quite and aggresive player so I was a tad worried how this lightweight gear would hold up compared to its ampeg big brothers that i have????????????? This rig freakin rocks brothers and sisters. its punchy (tweeter was not used at all) and loud with a lovely room filling ampeg tone. I could honestly say that I would swear I was using the B5R head, it has all the lovely ampeg tone with half the weight. The cab in fairness probably isnt as room filling as the 4x10 (i wouldnt expect it to) however it cut through two bleeding guitarists who love to be heard and just sat in the mix so well. In saying that though if I wanted to I could easily adjust the EQ and have any flavour of bass tone I wanted due to its 4 band EQ system with frequency shifting options too. I had my MM bongo over one shoulder, the portabass head in its carrybag over the other shoulder and the cab was an easy 1 hand lift. I cant believe that in 1 trip to the car I was ready to rock and inturn I wasnt gasping for breath or reaching for the backbrace. I was asking Keith if this is a gigable rig,,Well folks it really is, its not going to blow away hampden stadium, but for the type of gigs I play (the band members double the amount of punters in the pub) I would be very happy to use this rig as it is. I will be mainly using the B5R head as my main gigging amp, but the 250H is a remarkable backup that may be used depending on how i feel before a gig. So lets do a checklist on this. Is it portable and lightweight.................................Check Does it have the tone and tonal control I want........Check Is it gigable.........................................................Check Does it look good.................................................Check So there you have it folks, I now own lighweight portable gear and get to keep the ampeg sound im used to and love. This really has been a good day folks and thanks for reading.
They are quite unique. I wouldnt even say the shape is that crazy when you see it. Its odd, but in a subtle way. The curves on the rest of the bass make is seem pretty normal. It sounds nothing like any bass ive played, yet gets close to so many and its only tone as well...which is what I expected and wanted. I dont want yet another exact Stingray tone...as I may as well use a Stingray! Its less 'sizzly' compared to a Stingray...definitely good for that back pickup 'burp'. The E sounds HUGE even with the single coils. I can definitely see me ordering this configuration, but in a 5 and different colours.
Well Gaz im hoping for a full review when you do get it matey. I love that MM are going against the norm with these bass designs. The lines on the bongo are exactly the same,,,people dont realise how good they look as pics just dont do it justice. Im assuming the Big Al is exactly the same,,,you have to see it in the flesh (er,,,wood) to fall in love.
The reason it's so much is due to the writing on the bridge, that is considered a Status symbol.
-
I had the pleasure Of meeting Keith and family today whilst purchasing some ampeg gear. Im glad to be the first person to leave feedback and to say that Keith is an absoute gent and a pleasure to have met and dealt with. I hope this is the start of many comments about this chap and I can verify that Keith is as honest as the day. Thanks again Keith and I hope to meet up again at some point. Cheer Steven
Maybe someone in the area reading this might want to help - it is for Charity, after all. Anyhow: Guitarists - can you help Audioscope out? Hello everyone A bit of an unorthodox request which we were hoping the kind-hearted musicians of Oxford might be able to help us out with. Does anyone have any of the following kit that they'd be prepared to loan us for one evening, on 10 November? Your kit would be safely transported to and from the venue, and it'd be played by just one band at the Jericho that evening (er, Wire). Basically, if we could find this kit to borrow, it'd mean we wouldn't need to hire it, so we can give more money to Shelter as a result. Free ticket to see Wire in the offing if anyone can help us out! BASS AMP: SVT BASS HEAD X1 8X10 CABINET *GUITARS AMPS: Jazz CHORUS 120 or MESA BOOGIE IV Drop us an email at stuart AT audioscope DOT co DOT uk or simon AT audioscope DOT co DOT uk if you can help us out! Thanks guys, Stuart.
do they want someone to play the songs too hahahahaha
what more do you need to know?? and im not! it even says in the opening post 'made by myself a couple of years ago'
aye but your heading is Fender precision,,,,,custom bass. its a bitsa P-bass....its not a fender. If i had spent over a grand on a bass im pretty sure i would remember its components,,, Did the electrics come with the body? did the preamp come seperate and if so what is it,,,,, for this forum I think you may need more info on your parts.
You might want to try reading the previous 2 pages again
whys that? Only thing Tino left out is the pickups are wizards,,,not the most expensive pups on the market,,,,the body and neck are no-marks. Bit pricey for not knowing what your buying. Plus the OP is still marketing this as a FENDER custom,,,,,its not! ou7shined is right though,,,,should change your OP,,,this aint a fender dude.
You only just noticed, and... Does this mean it's up for swaps?
I usually stand whilst plugged in or when I use my rig in the back room i sit on the PC chair, so this is the first time its really came up. And no its not up for swaps,,,,,I dont hate it that much hahahaha

ok chaps, I have finally found a fault with the bongo. whilst sitting on my couch noodling away, I decided to plugin my line6 toneport. Turns out i hate basses that plug in at the bottom. the jag and aerodyne plug into the jack at the control plate and now I have to bloody angle myself whilst playing. Its fine sitting on a chair and things along those lines, however plugged in whilst slouching on a couch aint too niffty.
