1. Hola all, Recently got this bass (very recently infact) however I mainly got it for it to be used unplugged whilst noodling in the house,,,,as I can get roughly the same volume from my Jag and as the Jag is more comfortable whilst chillin in my chair, this im affraid after a short pitstop at mine will now be moving on. The bass is mint condition and very well setup with flats (Cheers Stephen, you did a cracking job on it). Fitted hardcase and everything is as it should be. These pics were suplied by Stephen so I hope he doesnt mind me using them on this thread So this bass is up for trades. Looking for ampheads, gibson basses or something interesting. As usual im kinda unsure in what I actually want as I have my 2 fenders that I mainly use so just looking for something new that is good for gigging or fun.. PM me with any offers. Im in west coast of Scotland near Glasgow so either pickup or postage is welcome. Depending on what you have I may be able to add some dosh to the trade. Main thing is to get in touch and see aht happens. you can also get me on [email protected] Cheers all Steven

 6. i love the look of these basses, just wish sting had less of an ego and decided to stick his sig in a less obvious place... however, stunning bass (minus the grafitti hahaha)
 7.
They probably would, especially as I bypass the peavey's preamp and plug directly into the poweramp, and it is an option I've considered in the recent past but why bother when the peavey provides all I need in a neat, affordable and almost indestructible package?
amen to that brother, reliability is a must,,,,if you have the poweramp that suits your needs plus also if need be using the preamp then your onto a winner.
 8.
I don't think you are a bassist until you rock up at a venue and play through the house Peavey combo.
hahahaha
 9.
One man's bland and unexciting is another man's canvas ..... I like that the Peavey doesn't colour my sound the way some amps do. It means I can drive the front end with different preamps to get different tones. The Peavey provides the meat, I provide the gravy.
why bother with peavey then??? sounds like any generic poweramp would do along with your gravy preamps!!!!!!
 10. last year I had 2 combos, a marshall mb4210 for gigging and a peavey 115max for in the house. The marshall had a decent sound although very underpowered for 300watts and due to the fact it was my second one due to the first one being faulty and then this one also went duff DURING a gig I then had no choice to go get my 50watt peavey from home. I feel the peavey goes through the motions and gives you a BASS tone. Its not exciting and its not dynamic. Peavey are decent amps on a budget and will certainly do the job. Just to let you know the amp could just be heard in the mix with my band but really really weak due to it only being 50watts I guess. It really saved my bacon that night, however tone wise its average and as a backup amp its a no no.
 11. these investigations ring the sound of a fellow sheriff officer hahahaha
 12.
It's more squier precision special, than anything else.... Just the body shape determines it's name. Squier used to do a precision 5 string, but it had jazz pickups, so it was no more precision than my watch was rolex. Bashing aside. Judging from the rest of the VM series it should be good. As for the fender jag bass. I know the active circuit is abit on the miserable side, but used as a bass/treble boost it's pretty useful. I can pull some awesome 2band EQ stingray tones with the circuit and the lead pickup solo'd. Still it's an amazing bass passive, it sounds so deep and full. for the money I don't think there is a better bass fender does with the same features, for the same money, plus mine came beautifully set up (apparantly N.K setup the action) It would be unfair to compare the squier jag to the fender version.
I feel the best use of the active circuit is for when using my distortion pedal. Rather than trying to dial in a more trebly sound for a song before clicking in my distortion for a solo or something,,,all I do is whack the bass into active mode with the treble nice and boosted already. I know a EQ pedal would do the same thing,,,but why go to the expense of one of those when I already spent a few hundred quid on a bass that can do the same thing...... It goes to show how versatile these fender jags are and also important for people top learn the features of their basses and when you use them properly for your own function they really become an asset.
 13.
In a very small nutshell Stingray = P width neck, 2 or 3 band eq, alnico p/up, US build Sterling = J width neck, 3 band eq with series/parallel/single coil switch, ceramic p/up, smaller body, US build Ray34 = Offshore Stingray SB14 = Offshore Sterling SUB = discontinued slab bodied, textured finish 2 band Stingrays or 3 band Sterlings without coil tap, US build And then there's the Bongo..................... Check out the Ernie Ball MusicMan and Sterling (the confusingly named offshore brand) websites
ah nice one dude, I appreciate that
 14. whats the difference in the stingrays, sterlings, subs and ray34's?????????????/
 15.
Congrats MB, we have our first gig after a new bassist (me) and a new drummer we recruited after the others are leaving for Uni tomorrow night - 2nd on the bill, local venue, well publicised. I cant wait! Hope it goes well! Oh and play till you bleed - then play some more. Never give the up the fingers
+1 on this. a wee while back, i was washing my 11month old sons hair and used cradlecap shampoo to get rid of is dryskin,,,,,,,,,,,,bad mistake as this also took off all my callouses on all fingers ahahahahaha. This was on the thursday night and my gig was Saturday night. needless to say after playing for 2 hours I had 3 blood blisters and a few little blisters that were just excruciating whilst playing. So stuff the pain,,,,,,,,get those fingers plucking baby
 16. whats the difference in the stingray, sterling, ray34 and sub????????????????
 17.
Steve man, calm your knickers! The name on the end of the bass matters not a jot. I have a 08 Us P and a VMJ which I have upgraded with a new bridge and a better set of tuners but the bass feels and sounds great even with the stock pickups and it`s the VMJ that I`ll be gigging on friday. Nothing against the P but the neck on the VMJ is a diva. The new Squires are really as good as people say! And as for Jags, I have said this before, I had one and was well disapointed with it and ended up moving it on. The worst active circut I have ever used on a bass. And do you know what, I haven`t regretted getting rid of it for a second. Jez
Hahaha I do feel I may have got on my soapbox a bit. It may be because im on holiday however im actually getting up earlier than normal with my 11month son hahaha. owell its done now in interweb world
 18. From recent threads im sure you have read im a huge Jaguar fan and now a massive aerodyne fan (again,,,thanks Steve ) im gas free although im due to recieve a jack casady sig bass in the next few days.. my main bass I need is the Gretsch white falcon..............class, elegance and rock n roll.
 19.
well its exaclty a mix of the aerodyne and the jag, its just as much one as it is the other
i take this back,,,its more aerodyne than jag. only thing resembling a jag is its body!!!!!!!!!! i wonder why they didnt call it the squier VM aerodyne. i feel its the switch combination and chrome that really gives the jag its wow factor, plus these preamp switches were taken from the original guitar model.............
 20.
One reason, for me anyway, money. Take the Squire VMJ, a cracking bass at a cracking price and cheaper than most 2nd hand Fenders I could get my grubby mitts on. Your 'SIG BITCHES' btw, you've got an Epi EB-1!
not anymore. tht was a wee pit stop try it out bass.....its now probably going to be doing its tour of basschat as it left me this morning edit for sig update.
 21.
Munk, This bass is a lot closer to what i want than a Aerodyne will ever be. And for me the real deal isnt readily available and would be way out of my price range if i had ot get one made.
well its exaclty a mix of the aerodyne and the jag, its just as much one as it is the other,,,,,,,,,,,except the jag and aerodyne dont have that nasty [s]rash[/s] squire decal on the headstock
 22.
All days long peoples ask me about my website “Comparesthefender.com” I tells them Simples, look at the shoddy mongoose build quality of replikas! Sure it may looooook like real Jaguars, but where is your pre-amp - eaten by fleas? Only one place to by originals Fenders, simples!
BANG right there you go people, see my good mans reply as above......regardless of these crappy copies or even these possibly real/not real squire jags...... ITS NOT A FENDER JAGUAR. if you like the jag look,,,,,BUY THE JAG if you like the p/j pup config,,,,, BUY THE AERODYNE. Why bother with something thats close to what you want or always wanted,,,cos lets face it, you will always want the real deal. OH aye CHECK MA SIG BITCHES hahahahahaha
 23. Hey Del get onto Rich (ou7shined) about long straps. if you see the pics of Peter holding his bass at the moffat bass bash you will see a long strap hahahaha
