1. I hadnt really thought of selling my Ric. However if anyone is reading this and wants to buy my ric for Michaelg's asking price then I would let it go and then buy this bass. (if that makes sense)
2. whats the general time for everyone arriving? Im only about an hour away so was maybe gonna be there for about 2 or 3.
3. Well I had my new MD bass at rehearsals tonight. The bass feels great and sounds amazing. Its very lively and not really what i was expecting from a P-bass. The tone pot really is fantastic. The variation in sound it provides could easily be mistaken for some kind of active circuit. I easily went from 25 miles by Edwyn Star, to the sweet child of mine riff and nailed the tones no problem. My new band has a gig lined up on the 25th of this month and we are just finalising our setlist. My singer, the 2 guitarists and drummer hit me with a bombshell. They clearly stated I have to LEAVE my Rickenbacker at home and I must use the MD!!!
4. are we allowed to drink at this one? I may have missed it last time due to my praying that 2 very hairy Aberdeenshire men wouldnt abuse me through the night!!!
5. Get one,,,you will not be disappointed...I still think of the one I had.. I let it go because i though a MM bongo was all I needed......thats gone too!
6. fingers crossed north of the border for you buddy.
7. A wee update,,,,I have stuck up a thread for a black scratchplate. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/166796-black-fender-51r-or-mike-dirnt-scratchplatepickguard/
8. dunno what sets it aside from other P-basses. Not even sure it does apart from cosmetically. Im sure there will be a few P-bass enthusiasts ready to chip in soon enough though
9. you have to state a price on the bass mate.
10. I agree it looks better. I am now in the hunt for one. Is that from a 51r or was it specially made for the MD bass?
11. thats exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks for that. Did it detract the yellowish tint away from the bass? That original white PG really shows it as yellow.
12. Does anyone have a pic of their vintage white MD bass with a black scratchplate on it?
13. funny you should ask. I am feeling I am losing a bit of volume and sustain from the D and G string. Does anyone know why this may be. For instance when im playing baba oreily....I just dont feel the notes ring out long enough or at least with a consistncy as the E or A strings do.
14. mine has worked fine with just the guitar stuff for a year or so.
15. So when is it for sale? hahahahaha
16. RIP the Jag Hope I love this Mike Dirnt sig bass as much. It feels right and plays really well with the setup the fella had already done on it. Aint had a chance to run it through my orange rig yet. However I managed a few minutes using it via my irig setup and it sounds pretty good but my main suprise is that tone pot!!!!!!!! my god that thing WORKS...The jags tone pot was for cosmetic purposes only in comparison.
17.
PM Johnston... http://basschat.co.u.../8911-johnston/ He's got a Vintage White one, seems like a nice bloke to me, should be able to help.
Your assumptions were bang on. Johnston got a pic to me and his views within minutes.
18. does anyne know if the vintage white colour scheme on these basses are yellow? The fender website shows it off white (cream) but any pics I have seen show it as yellow!!!
19. Cheers Tom, its a long drive to Darlington to pick it up....But im sure it will be worth it.
20. I already feel bad enough
21.
Arriving in time for Moffat?
It sure is Matt,,,,im picking it up from Darlington on Sunday.
22. yeah but I wasnt buying, I was swapping. Plus im not a fan of the black one.
23. on hold with a possible swap for a Fender Mike Dirnt sig bass.
24. I am kinda sorry to see the jag go Gerry. But I know its time to move on and try something else due to my Ric being the only bass I use. Every comment I have heard is uber positive so at least I know im getting a decent bass. Plus its my ideal colour scheme too which is a massive bonus.
