1.
Im not really sure on that one either, but i would love to get a P bass and put one near the bridge, so i can play it where i would normally play on the bridge pickup of a J bass. I think i saw one on ebay like that, Looked niiiiceeee
yeah that would make more sense having it in that position. but below the strings!!!!! how?????????????????????
2. ok boys and girls, ive noticed the odd bass having these thumb rests on them. now im sure the answer is in the name of the product haha, but im just curious when you would use them. during playing, my thumb rests on the pickup of my jag and when im idol, im usually scratching something. so at what point would you use the thumb rest. im in no way interested in buying one just been curious for a while. cheers steven
3.
Only the James Johnstone version I think
so i guess they are handing out signature basses with every box of kelloggs corn flakes hahahaha
4. just read thread, just ignore my reply hahahaah job done. looks like it was easy enough for him to ditch you guys hahahahaha
5. we kinda had the same issues, my drummer (and brother-in-law) and his pal started the band im in. he then inlisted me and my other pal steven for bass, guitar and vox. 6 months into this new band we only had about 5 songs we could probably get through due to the founding member (guitarist) not learning songs cos he just wanted to jam and assumed audiences would be happy to listen to an hour and a half blues jam. our rehersals always ended in empty words cos we were not happy, eventually the other guitarist said enoughs enough, we wont make it as a band unless we sort these issues, 7 days later we were a trio and 6 months after that we have 30 songs and have had about 6 gigs. Now this is my first real and gigging band, but I have to agree that it has to be fun, this aint going to keep me and my family in my house so it is only the enjoyment that should keep you interested although it seems like you already have your mind made up and your now looking for reassurance (dont we all), I say speak to the new drummer make sure he is the man for the job and then advise your intentions. its not a nice thing to do but if you want to gig in february then you have to do it. keep me informed dude by pm or something
6. just checked his myspace, does this guy only have one pedal on offer? http://www.myspace.com/sixtieseffects
7.
hmmmm.... Starting to wonder if this was a good idea... he said it would probably be ready to put in the post last Saturday...... over a week later & still no pedal! my attempts to message him over the last few days have been 'unread' At this stage I don't think that he's ripped me off... but maybe he's had hold ups or buggered off for Xmas or Xmas post is slow.... ? Whatever the reason, I would have expected to have been kept informed....
yeah didnt expect poor comms at this point seeing he has been spot on so far. Then again it is xmas so lets hope he is just backe logged, which is good news as this means he has plenty of customers. fingers crossed dude..... lets know how it goes. steven
8. well any joy with the pedal dude?
9.
Snarlin' Dogs Bootzilla Wah - does wah and distortion. Wah and distortion together sound great!
i honestly think that when you get the right settings it can actually sound like a dog growling, both the distortion and wah are top class and as soon as i get my wah switch fixed (it makes a horrible audible pop when activated) it will be on at every gig i play woo hoo. +1 on bootsy pedal
10. bump for a great guy and a great multifx board (I CAN GUARANTEE ITS IN TIP TOP CONDITION)
11. some really amazing comments are here dudes. I dont think I will ever change my views on this and hopefully in 10years time I will start another thread with a recently taken pic that looks exactly like this hahahaha
12. yeah I agree with everyone, although i am determined to keeping my bass immaculate, there are afew marks, one on the headstock where it may have hit either my drummers drumkit, my guitarist himself or possibly a speaker stand. who knows, but when i noticed it the next day I did feel a bit grumpy, however I did get over it very quickly. Im aware these things happen, but im not about to start throwing it about as I like the knocked about look, thats what wifes are for hahahaha
13. Hope this has happened to some of my brothers and sisters in BC and not just me, about 1month ago whilst gigging i totally forgot how to play a song. We always use a set list for our 2x45min sets. So at the start of the gig im feeling good, confident and like a rock star. about 4 songs in we come to ziggy stardust. Now as you all know this is A: a very good song and B: easy as pie to play. Just as my guitarist starts the song I realise I have forgotten it and have no idea how to play it, I know it starts in G so im hoping i go into autopilot and kick right into it. Hhahahahaha that didnt happen folks, what happened was that I remembered small parts(chorus) but apart from that I sounded like a starter on guitar hero hitting bum notes like a mo'fo It was torture and for some reason this 3min song felt like a 4hour epic hahahaha any similar stories out there?
14. After spending a good few hundred on my fender Jaguar, I try and keep it in mint condition. I see and hear about folks liking the 'roadworn' bass which is fine, but then I hear and see people who have had their bass for a few years and comment on the scuffs, scrapes and bashes on it add to the 'mojo' or 'character'. Im not anal (oh er) with the care of my bass, but I do like to clean it at least once a week and always have it in a hardcase when gigging (soft gigbag at rehearsals when im not humping alot of my own gear about). I really want my bass to look showroom perfect for as long as possible. the inevitable knock or scratch will happen, but i want the finish to shine and the chrome to blind haha. Now im not looking for a fight or anyone being a bit arsey,(so dont bother commenting), all im looking for is what peoples views are on the care of their bass, im hoping to get educated in why pristine and roadworn are prefered in different people.
15. get the maximum amount of wattage you can dude, being a rig or a combo. my first real amp was a peavey 115max which was 50watts, although this could be heard playing with a band, it wasnt really good enough. I now use a h&K bk200 200watts which plays fine at smaller gigs and an ashdown 600h with an ampeg 4x10hlf cab for the slighly bigger doos. so basically you will always chase wattage, so get the biggest badboy you can get.
16. has anyone tried these pedals? http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0234500003
17. if you like distortion and wah, then why not go for the snarling dogs bootzilla pedal or the fender fuzz-wah pedal I own the bootsy pedal and its awesome.........anyone tried the fender fuzz wah?
18. awesome mate. get back in touch once you have gigging time with it so we can compare notes
19.
If you have an SVT 2 and want classic sound it's probarbly easier with classic cabs. The B series have a different sound to classic cabs of what i know, not as old school. Perhaps someone who has more experience from both of them could tell you the difference in sound. I have only tried classic cabs, but i have read about people trying to get that same thump using B cabs not succeeding.
not sure about the 'same thump' but the b series definetly has amazing bottom end as well as plenty of top too
20. unfortunatly he is a monster on guitar, I mean MONSTER. he picks up the guitar and just knows what to do, he is also a good singer and has presence. ontop of all that a love the guy like a brother. Thankfully I am in a band with my brother-in-law and a long term friend. We are all very close and im wondering if thats what makes us such a tight band!!!!!!!!!! pity he wasnt actually my biological bro, that way i could batter him hahahahaha
21. yip I agree with andy, its a pre-amp issue. I was playing about with the amp just there, I can get plenty of volume with only a small amount of input dialed in, however the VU meter didnt bounce about that much. I then had the input dialed right up and volume down low(obviously) and although there was backround noise coming through the cab there was no realnoise coming from the head except the fan whizzing round. unfortunatly dude looks like you should get straight onto ashdown. either way please get in touh and tell us how you get on
22. not really sure dude, I know that I have my input set quite hight when my bass is in passive mode a little lower in active. I wouldnt hold much weight with the VU meter, I only take much notice when i use pedals through it as that really makes the needle jump, I think you will always have to have it quite high to get it to the manufacturers level of 0. probably about 3/4 is my setting in passive. But ive not noticed any excess noise, remember this is a 600watt head so you are going to get some kinda hissing or noise as its not really ment as a practice amp and once your in a full band setup any of this hissing/noise wont be noticable. Its an awesome amp mate, bear with it am sure you will come to appreciate it.
23. oh aye strung out, its in the top corner of kings court beside the 13th note.... a was over cheking out their guitars/basses. kinda pricey for me!!!!!!!!!
24.
Munkman! Dont put a baddass on it. Not worth the money (ducks for cover from all the baddass lovers). I wouldn`t even change the pickups as you seem quite happy with the sound and if you go to sell it, you wont get your money back for the price of the pickups. If you feel it would benefit from a set up, get one done! It won`t do it any harm. I think 7string on here does em (correct me if I`m wrong!) and seems to do a good job, so why don`t you pm him? Buy some s/hand pedals and mess about with them for a bit of variety. Jez
your rigt jez, why change with what is already right. The pedal issue is always on my mind. I love new pedals and tones, my main pedal is my bootsy, however the bloody switch for the pedal makes a terrible popping sound when activated so is kinda unusable, i only really use it for the fuzz. does anyone fix these kinda things????????????
