3.
Nobody has an upright that's only worth £200. Who wouldn't want an upright bass anyway? Good luck with the sale mate...
yeah I know but im just hoping for a decent swap, any kinda bass is considered in my house haha.
4.
In My opinion the AGB 140 is one of the best basses you can get - and not just for the money either. I have a 51 reissue Pbass so I can compare it with that as the closest reference. Downsides - or maybe not depending on your playing style ! The Ibanez is MUCH longer, you really need to reach for end of the neck and it is a bit neck heavy as with a lot of semis. The action is fairly high too. I'm happy with this on all counts, It suits me fine. There is not much in the way of tonal control - your jag will be coming down with that stuff - vol and tone controls only, but they work fine and the tone variation is quite noticeable. They're not just as powerful as the Fender. Try and get one with a case, they are outsize and a gigbag is a waste of time - it sticks out the top. Got a case from Thomann for £60 Upsides They sound truly excellent. I bought the AGB as a backup to my Rick 4003. I bought the ASB in the states (you cant get them here) a year later on the strength of my experience with the first one and sold the Rick! But as with most thing its a matter of preference on the sound. I play with flats and I'm looking for a 60s vibe, but they're versatile enough for anything. It is pretty well put together, nice finish and the binding is well done on both my AGB and ASB. I've been working them pretty hard too, the AGB for 5 years, the ASB for 4 with absolutely no quality control issues, not so much as as a loose nut or crackly pot. Always comes out the case in the same tuning as it went in, and will hold that for a hot gig. Honestly give it a go - I guarantee you wont get a better instrument for the money Check myspace www.myspace.com/thelaynesuk or myspace.com/berrytweedandthechasers ALL the songs are played on the ASB, just with different tones od played with a pick rather than fingers, - but thats just a matter of preference - it sounds identical to the AGB. There are a couple of youtube vids as well. one of the Berry Tweed ones has a good bass sound on it, its the one about 8 min long. Theres one on Gumtree Glasgow today for 150 quid - be a devil.
amazing bit of info, and funilly enough its the one on gumtree im interested in, I have a fender Jag and vintage 4string, so my wife wont be too happy with a new edition to my guitar family(i have a few 6strings too). So I was kind ahoping the gu may take it down in price so i can really justify buying it.........aint marriage blisss But aye its a lovely looking bass and I am very interested, thanks for the info matey.
5. hey man, im just along the road in Greenock, we are neighbours hahaha. im considering an Ibanez AGB140, how would it compare to my Jag, any thoughts????????????
6.
I think that before people get too deep into playing Flea's stuff they should consider learning the other methods of slapping. When I started slapping I did the whole Flea thing and the technique obviously comes hand in hand with their songs, but the thing is that a lot of time it really doesn't work quite so well as the other techniques used by the likes of Wooten and the traditional style used by Larry Graham, Marcus Miller etc. I tend to find that the traditional style and Wooten's kinda thumb plucking style give you a much nicer tone and more control over your rhythm. I don't mean to bash Flea or anyone who uses his style, I just remember clearly how much my sound and precision improved when I stopped doing his style and started to slowly build up the Wooten way of doing things (If anyone knows who invented his particular technique please tell me, because I haven't a clue). On the other end of the scale many people are perfectly happy with Flea's technique and it often sounds fine. The other benefit is how easy it makes the transition from slap to finger style, or the other way round. Enjoy slappin'
larry graham i believe takes credit for this style
7. still on market folks. surely someone has an upright bass they do not want!
8. ideally i would like to swap both these items for a bass, mainly an upright. or for sale for approx £200
9. im now looking to get rid of my vintage bubinga bass and my peavey amp,,,,,,,this could be a straight sell as a bundle or individually, or even a swap, if you have any offers on any of the options then please drop me a line
10. yeah i like the idea of using effects while i play, i have the mb50b and a bootsy fuzz wah, i havent actually used them live yet and only rarley use them in rehearsals. As we are a power trio i think adding a bit of fuzz and or reverb will def add a bit of warmth and fuller sound to the set,,,in saying that, on our gigs we have had no problems with sound and have always had a great responce. so there you go,,,a completely indecisive word from the monkey man in scotland ahahaha

14.
lol, is that A or B? Now, i'm only posting because no-one else is trying to help, but beware i am NOT an expert. However, this is what i'd do.... I suspect it's A. If so, open it up, get a couple of wires and put them on either side of the switch. You can put these wires together to simulate switching the pedal on with the footswitch. If you don't get the pop, replace the switch. If you do get the pop, your pedal is f*cked. If it's B, your pedal is f*cked. When I say f*cked, I don't mean it can't be repaired, I just mean it will probably have to go to a pro. There are a few guys on this board that repair pedals.
cheers bro, i appreciate it, what do you mean by putting 2 wires together though?
15. im now considering between wizard 64's and 84's, anyone got any opinion?
16.
Just re-read the OP. Are you getting: A a loud pop when you switch the pedal on B clicking for the duration whilst the pedal is on ?
only when the pedal is activated.
17. lowering price to 110bucks folks, any takers?
18. still no joy after cleaning my pedal contacts, anyone got any other ideas?
