  1. He does make a nice cup of coffee too☕
  2. You do not mention budget. I don't play heavy rock but two modern 12s would surely suffice. I down traded my Monaco to a 10" Monza as the Monaco wasmore than I needed. I would look at either a Barefaced Big Twin or two LFSys Monacos. Two Monacos will be lighter and a £few hundred cheaper. The two LFSys will be about 114cm high stacked but the dispersion means you will not need the stand or box.
  3. I suspected that as they will all be in one big metal box on the ship. I suspect Andertons' are/were on the same ship so hopefully the wait will soon be over.
  4. Nice, hope your Hipshot Machine Heads are better than mine..
  5. Mint...if you want Mint. Thomann are probably Sire's biggest customer and I bet the boat went to the nearest EU port before it docked in the UK.
  6. Just looking at some of the other new Sire Models and they are quoiting Sept 13th. They will be in te same consignment fingers crossed but don't hold you breath. Just as an additional comment. I have always found Andertons' customer service to be first class and I have bought lots from them over the years. Thomann also are first rate.
  7. As a general rule, anything after 1990 in the Pop/rock genres will have the shizzle compressed out of it. I am sure you and @steviewill take this for granted, however it is important to have material that tests the crossover. When I was choosing HiFi speakers I tried two from a well known brand. The bigger, most expensive ones were such hat on some material you could hear where they had crossed the drivers over. Needless to say I bought the smaller, cheaper ones.
  8. To be fair to Andertons, it looks like they are due the first shipment and Thomann will get the next batch. Having worked for a company that made Consumer goods, the first batch is almost always delayed, as the first run really shows up any flaws in the design or production process. In being fair, I must say that Andertons do not currently have any of my money and also it is the 3rd September today...
  9. It must be personal choice but on any two PUP bass I usually roll the bridge PUP right off. I feel bass neck PUPs sound like George Thorogood's guitar on steroids but whatever floats your boat.
  10. The tweeter maybe better than you think but most tweeters in bass amps are an afterthought with barely a crossover worthy, of the name. Have fun.
  11. Is that a deal breaker? Especially at the cheaper end, a plain neck would be a no no. You need the confidence as a newbie on fret less.
  12. In the late 60s Hagstrom were a major brand, often pushing innovative designs. The Nekromant look to be an interesting entry to the matket.
  13. I almost myself into building a Valve amp recently. You remember valves. They look like cola bottles with small electric heaters inside. Anyway, contacted Michael at Modulus Amps and go a reply that went something lie this: We have the golden bottom kit and the tweed bassman kit, they are both 50w amps that are really most famous for guitar use as 50W is not really considered enough for gigging with a bass unless you are playing motorhead. There will be a 100w bass in the future. So I asked for more info, the reply came back: Hi John, Here are the links. https://modulusamplification.com/golden-bottom--bass-amp-kit----50w-output-8675-p.asp https://modulusamplification.com/tweed-bassman-5f6a-style-kit----35watt-output-3170-p.asp The Golden bottom amp can be fitted into the small box or compact head cabs. https://modulusamplification.com/jtm45-style-cabinet---black---made-in-the-uk-3057-p.asp https://modulusamplification.com/compact-50w-plexi-head-cabinet---made-in-the-uk-8705-p.asp The bassman amp is normally fitted into a combo that could be mounted into a large head too Keeping to the two power valve option on these, we could make the transformers suitable for two 6550 or KT88 which will give more power. Also if someone was interested in the 100w amps, most of our kits develop from people ordering a kit and then us putting it all together for them. Takes a little longer but has always worked out. I would love to do an Ampeg based kit at some stage, but that will not happen in the next 12 months unless someone puts coin down. The problem with higher powered bass amps is the iron and the valves get really expensive fast. So get in touch with Michael if you want to build a better bass amp.
  14. Me too as long as it does not clash with the SW Bass Bash.
  15. Although I clicked the laughing icon, hearing loss is not funny.
  16. Not quite on @JPJ's epic scale but: Social Club on Dorset's Coast, Mudeford just east of Bournemouth. Our second gig there after a two year break, we went down well the first gig but the old Ents Sec wanted a "refresh". New committee comes in and we areback and boy did we rock the joint. Rig was my usual, Marcus Miller M2 Bass, Bugera Veyron 1001M Amp, LFSys Monza Cab, Zoom B2-Four. Fp vocals I use a Sontronics Solo through a TC Helicon Mic Mechanic 2*. You can see the heavy curtains I mentioned above in the background. *MIc Mechanic has reverb, echo, a bit of built in voice EQ processing, bit of this a bit of that and up to 0.5 semitone pitch correction if needed. Of course my voice does not really need it..... The PA is the singers. I disown it completely.
  17. That must be pretty potent Scrumpy Mike.
  18. Last night we played a club where the stage had a window at the back. Owing to noise complaints from the residents, a pair of very thick, fully lined curtains covered the back of the stage. Fo the first time ever, I did not hear a hint of feedback all night, even at set up.
  19. I am another K&M stand Fanboi but I have boughgt two stands recently that were not K&M. Speaker stands. Novopro. These have a limited amount fo air cushioning but for heavy12s and 15s it only helps a bit. However, rather than those silly metal rods that poke through holes in the stand, the Novopros have a latching system that works really well. I also bought a mic stand that was not K&M but that was a stock issue.
  20. A slimmer ABM would be nice. Widthways that is not height.
  21. The problem is that bass speakers beam with any HF going to your knees. A well designed cab with a tweeter will push the lower HF up towards you ears.
  22. I have the Mic Mechanic 2 and I love it. It makes me sound quite good.👍
  23. I am not sure exactly how lightweight you need but a better 1x10 to monitor in a similar fashion to the FoH would be the LFSys Monza. That depends on whether 11Kg is too heavy although I know @stevie is working on a lighter version.
