Strictly speaking RMS is the equivalent AC power of a dC power. So 1 watt DC = 1 watt RMS.anything else is ballcocks.

hat is the Ricky pick-ups (runs for cover)

If you do want a new driver, the Beyma 15CVM2 is not too expensive (£52ish) without modelling in WinISD looks to have a decent spec https://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=BMA615CVM28&browsemode=manufacturer h

Actually older US made amps were rated in a different way and often only gave half the power quoted compared to a UK made one. Never trust the power rating, just the sound.
-
Pedant alert. Strictly speaking RMS volts x RMS amps gives Average watts but that sounds more wimpey than hefty RMS watts.

Sorry I went off on one. I am not sure the shape is any different but I cannot be sure. I used to think that the P had the wider neck but in the pictures it looks like the neck is the same. The P does have dot inlays and a pickguard but so do some Jazz versions. I do love the trans red.

Well look at it like this. Roughly £1000 retail. SH shroud brings £400-£600 depending on condition. They are great basses but they are not rare and they are not vintage. Would I swap any US made Fender for mine? No way. If people want to pay silly money for USA made instruments that is up to them. If I had to replace mine I would in an instance but not for £750. Also I love the fact that mine has no pickguard, I would not even go £650 for one with a pickguard. Rant over.

Gold is worse than copper in many ways. The only benefit I can see is that it tarnishes less. Hopwever it is also not durable. One reason you should never use gold plated jack plugs.
-
Apparently the heft is shinier. On a sensible note. There is no reason to use gold, silver would be an improvement (although no noticeable) but gold is a wasted expense.

Climate change will also do for house bricks sadly. in the same way they will for thermionic valves.
-
I always thought it would be fun to build a solid state amp with some valves in, with just then heaters connected. Climate change means I will never get around to it now.

Got to say you cannot beat Gotoh.

Rawhide?

The bass one looks good too. You may have solved my quest for a new gig bag Mike. It will suit my boring black bass just fine.

Does Valve Orange Glow create more heft than Orange Glow LEDs?
-
Surely the glow comes from the heaters, not the amount of power being dissipated within the device? The last valve amp I had was fitted ECC83s and I am sure they glowed.

The problem is that valve/tube amps and some solid state amps have the same power output no matter what the impedance. Valve amps via a transformer and the TH 500 has the same output into either 4 or 8 ohms. Using a voltage to measure efficiency. falsely favours a lower impedance speaker. Volts are the driving force, the PD or potential difference between two points, and without volts nothing would work. However volts only exist on their own if the voltage source is not connected to anything. Once you connect a voltage to any electrical circuit, current flows and watts are consumed. Efficiency is fundamentally power out divided by power in so using the same voltage for 4 & 8 ohm speakers makes a 4 ohm speaker seem more efficient.

The only issue with The Veyron for me is too much light, although I can always find it when the stage lights dim.

I Suspect the watts we’re squeezed in at the factory and then hermetically sealed in at the cabinet.

NAD UK built Ashdown Little Bastard head and LB112 Cab

If you are like me I never quite get round to hitting the SELL button. -
I always take a man in a hat seriously.

What is voltage sensitivity?

How can it be cooler than a fridge? Seriously though there is no fridge cooler than the Marshall.

If you have two 8 ohm cabinet in parallel to give 4 ohms, the power will be doubled approximately. However the mutual coupling between the two cabinets/drivers will add 3-6dB (depending on which paper/book you read). So a 6-9dB increase, not to be sniffed at and certainly worthwhile when you consider 10dB is perceived as a doubling of volume. Of course if you just get a 4 ohm Single driver cab, it is a 3dB increase and that is only just about noticeable.

How will you taper a fretted neck Andy?
