I will try to be brief. You will not find everything you need in one book. I am always happy to be corrected, but here is my two pennyworth. TC amps are notorious in exaggerating their ratings, BUT they are plenty loud enough for most. In explanation, they use a lot of processing and especially compression to give the impression of being much more powerful than they are. However, your amp is a very capable amp and in most cases a good one cab setup should work well. Most on here will know my bent as far as cabinets go, and of course it would be good to know your budget. All online retailers must let you change your mind. I cannot remember whether you get 10 or 14 days to change your mind, but you could use that to try some cabs. UK based companies like Barefaced and LFSys offer better than that, as well as both having helpful owners. @steviefrom LFSys is often on here and can be contacted via private message for advice/ Alex Claber from Barefaced is also very helpful according to those that have asked him questions and bought his cabs. Depending on your DIY skills, there are free designs on here for the BC112 Mk3, and some easy build 12" and 10" cabinets and of course Bill Fitzmaurice sells plans for DIY cabinets and is often on here. LFSys Barefaced Bill Fitzmaurice If your goal is the lightest cabs, Barefaced. If the lightest that give the best performance, LFSys. However, others may disagree. Only you know what is right for you.

The mic capsules in mobile phones are in fact very flat, BUT the implementation inside the phone can cripple the response. I have no knowledge of individual Android Phones, but I believe that iPhones up to iPhone 4 were very flat. Later models had an HPF applied in hardware. I still have an iPhone 4 for this reason.

The SM58 has a wider pickup angle than many modern Cardioid mics. Also, reflections from the wall can be an issue. Cardioid mics have their biggest rejection from immediately behind the mic, and remember the cardioid pickup pattern is 360 degrees. Moving the monitor forward, backward or slightly around the corner might help. Alternatively if the monitor needs to be angled, a Super Cardioid mid would work best. I use Sontronics Solos, but Sennheiser and Shure make nice super-cardioids.

I love the features of the CQ20 (all XLRs) but think the screen on the CQ18 really helps, especially with technophobe bandmates.

If you put a - sign in front of those dB figures, yes but only in a free field with no trees. Rooms are a (mis) tuned box and are unpredictable.

Yeah, you do! No, seriously, you are right. Those 30 watt twins like the AC30, Selmer Zodiac 30 etc were very loud and in the 60s were a much better bet than the Fender twin combos. Looking back, I wonder why I "upgraded" to a Sound City 100 watt stack. Once I was a guitarist, but I had therapy and became a bassist.

A good guitar 12 will have a sensitivity of around 100 dB at one watt at 1 m. So that say 32 watts you are closing in on 115dB. @Phil Starruses 120dB as the volume of a loud drummer when looking at bass cabs. Adding a second cabinet, depending on the room, how you measure it, what rule of thumb is flavour of the month, whether Bill or Alex are wearing red socks, will add anywhere between 3 and 6dB providing the amplifier can drive the reduced load. As dB are added to create a total, 123dB between a guitard and a loud drummer. Or louder than a modern day Jet engine. They have got to learn to play quieter together because to compete, each member of the band need to get louder and heading towards 130dB is ludicrous. One trick I have used in the past. The guitarist had a combo with chicken head knobs. I undid the master volume knob on bid amp and turn it about 45 degrees before tightening the grub screw. Then pointed it to the same number on the dial as before. He only realised one day that his amp went above 11😜

Judging by all that iron, that must be well over 50lbs/23Kgs. Good luck with that, but as mentioned by others, if the mains transformer is as suggested, then it should be a simple thing for a tech to rewire. Remember to be sure to lower the fuse rating if going from 110 to 240. Just over half would be my recommendation and use the same type of fuse as there may be a big inrush current before the transformers settle down. If in doubt, post a picture on here with the writing on the fuse can clearly seen. Good Luck.

A bit left field, but why not get in touch with Crimson to see whether you can do one of their kit builds over 4/5 days. They have all the experts on site and can help you with the tricky bits. Admittedly, you will probably be looking at a tad more than £900, but you will have done most of the work yourself to a high standard and have the expert help with what you can't do. I think you are right, but groups on the main app is a big omission for me. It clearly can be done if it's on the Mobile app. I can live with my Ui16 for the time being. Re the UIs, they are a mature and seem stable, but there has been no firmware updates for some years. That suggests that development is minimal or non-existent.

I called Allen & Heath this morning to ask if and/or when Groups would be added to the App. I as pointed to Audio Technica. Likewise, I phoned them and was told to use their website to contact them. Firstly, they had no info on the CQ series apart from their version of the press release, and again I fill in a web form to ask a question. When will these people learn that this is not good enough for consumers and certainly not for professional users. Dealing with Sound Technology, the UK distributors for Soundcraft is much easier and makes me wonder whether I should just go for a UI24R. It is more like the CQ20, and by comparison more expensive, but it does what I want now and has more outputs/Auxes.

If you are looking at a Service Manual, forget it. If it needs a repair, take out a mortgage.

I have told this story before, but I was once asked by a clown that thought he could mix to turn down my bass amp as it was too loud and causing boom. It kept happening till eventually had the master volume at 0. Of course, he did not believe me until I told him to mute the PA and played my bass, of course nothing came out.

I wonder whether this will provoke a wave of consolidations. I was surprised how small Eminence are in numbers, suggesting perhaps, that much of its production is by sub contractors. It sounds like a good deal for B&C but will it be good for us in the long run. We had only two manufacturers of drivers here in the UK, Fane and Precision Devices and PD bought Fane a decade ago. Celestine have been Chinese owned for some years. Italy has a number of brands, Faital Pro, Sica, Lavoce as well as B&C and Sica acquired Jensen some years ago. Apart from those there are Beyma and Oberon. My worry is the some big companies will get control of some of these companies. It is rumoured the the Harman Group companies have been starved of R&D funds since Samsung acquired Harman. Let’s hope that consolidation does not lead to a reduction of innovation and choice.
