  1. This is odd. There is no reason that the singer should get a shock from a mic unless there is a fault on the mixer and that would be unusual. You need to measure the voltage between the mic grille and earth. It should be very small, millivolts ideally.
  2. I fitted a Classic P to my Aerodynalike, but it is a tad on the bright side for me. Their Duke seems to be popular on here, has anyone compared them?
  3. Jim Marshall did use some of the Fender circuits at the start, Fender's were based on the RCA sample circuits and the later Marshall's took their power amp designs from the Mullard Audio books.
  4. As the title says, we now have a PA subsection of the Amps and Cabs section, can we have a separate For Sale Area too?

  5. At the pub/club level, I doubt that. The pubcos really screw the tenants, and the clubs cannot have enough buying power to get booze at good prices. Of course, some clubs do enough to warrant an entertainment allowance from the drink supplier (I know one club that got £8K in 2017). Of course, that is factored in to the price the club pays for drink.
  6. This discussion should really be on the SW bass bash thread. So I will post my ideas over there.
  7. THERMS rarely come up for sale on BC. Must mean something.
  8. I wonder whether the “professional karaoke” singers are now doing the same to pub bands. Play in clubs and pubs where bands, trios and above, are featured once a month with the other 3/4 Saturdays being “solo singers”. it may also add to the death of good singers in bands these days. Why work with a bunch of musicians who steal your fee? Backing tracks don’t need weeks to learn a new song, don’t fall out and do not want a say in the set list. They charge £125-150 and we, as a four piece, struggle to get £300 between us. However that £150 difference is a lot of wet stock to sell for the landlord.
  9. Garden Party for us.
  10. Can we ban this term? Rock n Roll ain't noise pollution.
  11. The only reason I swapped my Monaco for a Monza was weight and size.
  12. I stupidly made the board before measuring my pedals. I might make this my "small board" and make another to make the layout easier. I have some more PCBs for the power supply, so keep your eyes peeled in a month year or two.
  13. My homemade pedal board with built-in power supply. The perspective is a bit skewed as all the pedals are level with or inside the edges of the pedal board. For anyone that knows the mic mechanic, I don't use those settings. Just for info, the power is from two 550mA discrete switch mode power supplies. The IEC input is on the right-hand side. The two left-hand power sockets to the Zoom and the Thomann wireless system are connected to one power supply, and right-hand sockets supply the Mic Mechanic with one socket spare. I designed it that ways as on the usual cheap power supplies, there is noise induced from the Mic Mechanic to the Zoom.
  14. They need to US price $49 Europe £75. Over twice as much in today’s exchange rate.
  15. Like @Phil Starr, I am the happy owner of an LFSys MONZA. In the early stages of development I tried what is now called the Goodwood. I am sure that will do what you need very well. Contact @stevie, either on here or via LFSys.co.uk. He’ll surely give you good advice.
  16. It is common sense Phil,
  17. I did not realise that out BL had another band!
  18. When I make cables, for me or someone else, I always fit a cable tie. It drives me mad winding a cable and finding nowt to keep it coiled.
  19. I don’t know but am interested to read the replies.
  20. Use a centre punch to stop the drill wandering.
  21. Another day, another Legion. Used my analogue mixer for this one as the Singer likes to be able to turn himself up as we get louder later on. Quicy set up the levels on both mains and monitors. All good until, he twiddled and we got feedback. Then he commuted the cardinal sin of cupping the sphere on his SM58. Deep joy, more feedback. The analogue desk goes back in its box next week and the singer will join it if he does not behave.
  22. I have a few odds lights and one of those generic DMX controllers. I have set up a number of chases and scenes but will admit that the DMX learning curve was steep. Coming from an audio background, the fact that the “faders” were not light intensity/volume but rather DMX values. Add the fact that each brand, and even models within a brand have a different DMX protocol and we are back to my favourite pastime, balloon squeezing. That is where a small change causes unexpected changes elsewhere. One model of mini par had a very good manual except that the DMX protocol had changes mid and nobody had told marketing when they proof read the manual. I saw @Phil Starr‘s lights a few weeks ago at a mini festival we both played and while it was not really dark, they did seem to pack a punch visually.
  23. No Bingo just a 30 minute break. I. Fact my Legion (we played there last week) also fired not have bingo just a cash raffle.
  24. Had the third of 5 Saturdays in a row for us. Another British Legion ( put your preconceived ideas away). Long narrow room next to a lounge bar that was pumping out Sabbath and Ozzy tracks in a belated tribute. As usual setup was tight and so I had no time to take photos and the better half will not put down her drink to take photos in case it is spiked Again the reduction to a four piece means.we are are much tighter and really enjoying ourselves It is holiday time so the crowd was a little sparse but they seemed to enjoy themselves.
