Pure Tone Multi Contact 1/4" Output Jack - Game Changer!
Chienmortbb replied to PaulThePlug's topic in Repairs and Technical
I have always wondered about those. I fit TRS jacks to my basses, even the passive ones. The redundant sleeve contact helps hold the plug straight, making a better contact. However I might just try one of these. -
These are soldered to a PCB if it's like my M2.

Compact mixing desks - what are you using?
Chienmortbb replied to Al Krow's topic in PA set up and use
That was why I bought one. -
If you have the settings you usually use saves as a show or a snapshot, try loading the INIT setting. As far as I know, it resets everything to default, returning everything to the out-of-the-box setting.

I use a K&M https://www.k-m.de/en/products/stands-and-accessories-for-instruments/fretted-instruments/17570-e-a-guitar-stand-duet-black-with-translucent-support-elements it is really solid and has been used for several years. Still as good as new.

Speaker cable question (running 2x big twin 2 gen3..)
Chienmortbb replied to Benji85's topic in Amps and Cabs
Usually a Class D/SMPS amplifier usually has an efficiency of about 83%. So that amp has to get rid of over 1600 watts from a 1U enclosure. Impossible? No. Improbable? Yes. Reading the spec, it is rated at 1200 watts into 8R and 2400 watts into 4R RMS. Still in excess of 300 watts of heat to remove. imagine trying to cool 3 x 100W incandescent light bulbs, enclosed in that small space. -
You are right, the drivers could well have been made in Eminence’s factory in the Far East and it was long ago so my memory is not what it was. I know that they were not Eminrnce USA made and there was no Eminence model number on the drivers, suggesting an OEM version.

Speaker cable question (running 2x big twin 2 gen3..)
Chienmortbb replied to Benji85's topic in Amps and Cabs
Cables with Neutrik speakONs will shortly be increasing in price as there is a new IEC Standard for high-powered speaker connectors. Neutrik are discontinuing the familiar SPX range and these are being replaced by the FXX range. FXX are still comparatively rare and as a consequence are more expensive. Suffice to say, the cheap copies will not be IEC compliant. -
This is a Sommer Classique Tweed Braided cable that measures about 3.98 metres, or 15 from the end of each plug. Despite the vintage look, Classique is a modern, high quality, low loss cable that is also tough. The jack plugs shown are Sommer HiCon jacks. They are comparable to Neutrik in that they feature one-piece construction, not riveted like most cheaper plugs. This is the end of a reel of cable and the plugs are new but odd ones, so the price includes postage and is close to cost price. If you want different connectors, DM me for a quote, as I have not yet soldered the connectors.

Eminence Drivers typically have a peak around the crossover point that could be a problem. I would not use them unless the crossover were well below the peak.

I have an M2, and it is lovely to play. I have replaced the Machine Heads with Hipshot Ultralites, The stock tuners were not great. I am also considering replacing the pickups. This would bring the cost close to an M7, so that may be a better bet and still within budget but should not need any modding. However, I would also look at the G&L Tributes, as suggested above.

Show us your rig of choice for the weekend ** Basschat edition**
Chienmortbb replied to bassace97's topic in Amps and Cabs
Funny. I always forget to take a picture of my rig, I will try at tomorrow's gig. -
I don't know what @agedhorsewould say, but from my point of view, the cables soldered to the transformer should have been threaded through the hole on the terminals and either wrapped around or at least bent back on itself. It would also be a good idea to put sleeving or heat-shrink over the terminals. Those joints where the cables are just laid on the terminals are not ideal. They rely on solder, but solder does not make a good mechanical joint.

Speaker cable question (running 2x big twin 2 gen3..)

Do not believe all the marketing hype. Many manufacturers quote peak power or even peak to peak power. Look at the Mackie Thump 12A here https://mackie.com/intl/products/loudspeakers/thump-series/thump12A.html#gallery-2. Quoted as 1200 watts, but the rear tells a different story. It shows a power consumption of 75W. Now, many items are quoted at 1/8 full power. On that basis, the Thump 12A has a 600W amp. I have seen inside Mackie Thumps that had a power amplifier Class D amplifier capable of no more than 300 watts, yet that was quoted as a 1000 watt amp. Many others are just as bad. -

As I said earlier, I have the Ui16 and I would also not trust the inbuilt Wi-Fi but also used the Behringer XAir 12 and XAir 18 as a FOH Tech, and they were also awful. The UI24R has a different Wi-Fi module, but it is twice the price of the UK16. According to @Phil Starrthe RCF M18 is quite stable but for me, it did not have enough mic inputs. My Ui16 runs beautifully with the TP-Link travel router. -
I am not one of Mr Lee’s biggest fans but I will be doing the mod eventually. Glad you liked it.

I once had a TC 2 x 12, I am not sure what model it was but the Eminence drivers were OEM, made under licence in the Far East (so not really Eminence).

Exactly correct. Most PP3 rechargeable batteries are 8.4 Volts.

You can get earthed Orange cables but they are used mainly for lawn mowers so that they show up against the grass. Most are Live and Neutral only. EDIT Sorry just seen that this has been answered above.

Zoom B2-Four would seem to fit your needs.
