Sadly also how the French State Energy Co EDF and the German EON own much of our power generation and domestic supply. It's not hard to see why Globalisation gets a bad name, but then Protectionism hurts everyone.

A bit left field, but why not get in touch with Crimson to see whether you can do one of their kit builds over 4/5 days. They have all the experts on site and can help you with the tricky bits. Admittedly, you will probably be looking at a tad more than £900, but you will have done most of the work yourself to a high standard and have the expert help with what you can't do. Click Here I did one of their set-up courses, and it was well worth it. I have been considering doing a build course myself.

SOOO many things I could comment that I would strike out if I were a moderator.

I think you are right, but groups on the main app is a big omission for me. It clearly can be done if it's on the Mobile app. I can live with my Ui16 for the time being. Re the UIs, they are a mature and seem stable, but there has been no firmware updates for some years. That suggests that development is minimal or non-existent.

I called Allen & Heath this morning to ask if and/or when Groups would be added to the App. I as pointed to Audio Technica. Likewise, I phoned them and was told to use their website to contact them. Firstly, they had no info on the CQ series apart from their version of the press release, and again I fill in a web form to ask a question. When will these people learn that this is not good enough for consumers and certainly not for professional users. Dealing with Sound Technology, the UK distributors for Soundcraft is much easier and makes me wonder whether I should just go for a UI24R. It is more like the CQ20, and by comparison more expensive, but it does what I want now and has more outputs/Auxes.

If you are looking at a Service Manual, forget it. If it needs a repair, take out a mortgage.

I have told this story before, but I was once asked by a clown that thought he could mix to turn down my bass amp as it was too loud and causing boom. It kept happening till eventually had the master volume at 0. Of course, he did not believe me until I told him to mute the PA and played my bass, of course nothing came out.

Vocal Microphones, what are you using?
Chienmortbb replied to Phil Starr's topic in PA set up and use
Was the Vocal Master the one with the frequency shift anti feedback feature? -
I wonder whether this will provoke a wave of consolidations. I was surprised how small Eminence are in numbers, suggesting perhaps, that much of its production is by sub contractors. It sounds like a good deal for B&C but will it be good for us in the long run. We had only two manufacturers of drivers here in the UK, Fane and Precision Devices and PD bought Fane a decade ago. Celestine have been Chinese owned for some years. Italy has a number of brands, Faital Pro, Sica, Lavoce as well as B&C and Sica acquired Jensen some years ago. Apart from those there are Beyma and Oberon. My worry is the some big companies will get control of some of these companies. It is rumoured the the Harman Group companies have been starved of R&D funds since Samsung acquired Harman. Let’s hope that consolidation does not lead to a reduction of innovation and choice.

You are far too lenient Sir, -
I hope to, but I am recovering from a procedure and Ir is slower than I had hoped🩹.

Well my mics: Three Sontronics Solos One Ramsa WMD-150SW (about 30 years old) One Ramsa WMD-120SW (about 30 years old) The rest of the band have: Shure SM58-Singer Behringer XM8500 - Lead guitarist Sennheiser e845 - Rhythm Guitarist The drummer does not sing (he hums a bit). Although he has a full set of drum mics. Sadly none of the drums can sing yet although the cymbals are coming on. -

Those are often quite fragile, so I suggest you order a few at that price. -

Shure say about the KSM8 "the KSM8 Dualdyne™ delivers unmatched control of proximity effect, presence peaks, and bleed and requires minimal EQ and processing. " Or paraphrasing, "we learnt where we went wrong on the Unidynes (SM58 et al). -
I just bought a fake £550 microphone on eBay.
Chienmortbb replied to LLOYDWT's topic in PA set up and use
In our band we all have different mics, from the Singer's 58, through Sennheiser E745, Behringer XM8500 to my Sontronics Solo. I love the Solo so much that I bought another 2. IMHO the Shure is probably the worst of the bunch. However, I am always open to the thinking of others. Thank you for posting this and at two strokes making me want one, then saying I did not need one.😥 -

I am intrigued, I have read all the blurb and having worked for Abbey Road during my apprenticeship, came to appreciate the quality of Neumann studio mics but are the KMS105s really worth more than 4 times that of the best dynamic mics for stage use? I am not being funny, it is a genuine question. -
As one of the Directors of the management companies has run off with all the fund meantbto maintain ouf flats, I could be £2K out of pocket, so any frivolous purchase has to be really justified so the CQ20B is back on the wish list rather than the must-have. However, I will comment on whether to use old tablets on this class of mixer. I have a functional iPad 3rd gen with a huge battery life. The only mixer I can use it with is the Soundcraft UIs, as they use browser control rather than being app based. Try to use any of the others, including the Mixing Station, and they just will not load on that iPad. Now, the downside is that you are slightly limited by HTML as to what you can do, but in reality HTML5 is pretty versatile. The screen on the CQ18T was attractive because there is a fail-safe. This is totally sold out everywhere so cannot be checked, and although I am drawn to the 20, more channels and the lower price, I think the purchase will be on hold for the time being.

Wharfedale Quote 12.4 kg / 27.28 lbs, and it does have a DSP setting for use as a floor monitor. However, I would agree that the Studiomasters may well work better than a Jack Of All Trades. It is worth noting that Studiomaster is part of the group that includes Caelsbro and that Studiomaster are concentrating on PA while Carlsbro look after MI Amplification;

I suspect Kiosk Mode is what you/we need. Are you using an iPad? If so, Guided Access will keep the app in focus (don't confuse what Apple call Focus with what Coders call it). Instructions here note that Accessibility has now been given its own Main menu slot. I have not tried it, but here is a description as to how to get an android device into Kiosk Mode

Just looking around all the major retailers, it seems that only the CQ12T is in stock with most. I checked Andertons, Thomman, Gear4Music, BAX, PMT GAK SCAN and only Scan has the CQ20B in stock. The CQ12T is in stock everywhere, and Thomann state several months lead time for the CQ18T. 1-2 Weeks for the CQ20B.

All of those are fairly heavy and a second hand pair of RCFs, would be cheaper and lighter. I bought a pair of Wharfedale Titan Actives from @Phil Starrof this parish, and they have done sterling service as Monitors.
