  1. I have been using GuitarTapp for some years, and it has served me well, but there have been no updates since 2018. Some features do not seem to work any more, so I was wondering what others use?
  2. I’m think it would be worth persevering to find out what the problem was. The Elf is a simple amp. Not really much you can get wrong. The Veyron has lots of lovely knobs and switches but that means more you can get wrong OR more to go wrong, To be fair, mine has not missed a beat except for a few crackles when the volume control was moved in the early days. Otherwise it has been ultra reliable.
  3. I quite agree, any of my recommendations are my own views and while I will defend them to the hilt. I saw a band once where the bassist used a PJB cab, I spoke to him afterwards, and he was raving about it, It would not work for me, but it worked for him.
  4. I have the Silverstone and have tried the Monaco a few weeks ago on a gig. Everything you say is in line with what I found. I am very happy with my Silverstone, and it does have that ability to be heard everywhere on stage, as well as out front and at my 6ft high ears. In fact I was asked to turn up the first time I used it by the band as the FoH volume was too low when I set it at my usual stage level. The Monaco was similar, but seemed to have more control at the lower end. I now back off the bass control a tad on my amp with the Silverstone to make it sound more like the Monaco. There is a cost and weight penalty with the Monaco, but it truly is a one cab solution as far as I am concerned. I am very tempted....
  5. I have an empty MK3 cabinet that I need to move on. I have set a price initially of £300 as I cannot post without a price, but I will amend that later when I have worked out a sensible (to me) cost. It has served me well for several years, but I now have one of @stevie's LFSys Silverstone. The BC112 has no drivers, but it does have The crossover and all connecting cables. The PH170 horn, A punched aluminium grille. Includes Logo The Handle. Includes Logo It just needs a Faital Pro 12PR320 12" driver and a Celestion CDX1-1425 compression driver, but only needs a crosshead screwdriver and possibly an Allen key to install the drivers and grille.
  6. Yes. I have someone else interested that has first dibs, but will start the for sale thread soon so as not to clog this one up.
  7. I have an empty MK3 cabinet that I need to move on. It has served me well for several years, but I now have one of @stevie's LFSys Silverstone. I will put it up for sale in the Amps and Cabs for sale shortly. It has no drivers, but it does have the crossover and the PH170 horn, as well as a punched aluminium grille. It just needs a Faital Pro 12PR320 12" driver and a Celestion CDX1-1425 compression driver. I will post a link to it as soon as it is up on the for sale area.
  8. I am sure @steviewill respond, but the main point is that you would normally need to cross over at a lower frequency than for a 12". That may mean a better horn and/or compression driver.
  9. I think the active inputs are there for older active basses that had vert high outputs, Most modern active basses have a gain/output similar to passive basses. I have a Marcus Miller and with the active tone controls flat, the volume is that same as when it is switched to passive.
  10. Most of the non Fender basses that came out of the "Fender Japan" factories featured Gotoh hardware, Ironically the Fender branded MIJ and CIJ ones were often fitted with inferior alternatives. As an aside, I would always fit Gotoh Hardware, especially Machine Heads, to my basses. I have only fitted Hipshot once, and they are a slight disappointment.
  11. I wonder what happened in 2016? Those money markets usually have a good reason for devaluing the. £. Maybe they just didn’t like bassists?
  12. A solution to a problem that does not exist?
  13. This is not a trick question, as I am torn on this. Apart from the cosmetics, what do you consider Music Tribe have copied from the Genz Benz? On another point for everyone. Did Genzler play on Mercedes Benz's reputation with his choice of company name?
  14. I had Elixirs on my acoustic and found them to be neither one thing nor the other. Never quite sounded like a new string, but never really faded. I almost bought some but Absolute, my local store was out of stock. To be fair, I love the feel of the D'Addarios, but I would not buy another set, as they also make Fender, that rules them out too.
  15. This price point is the third, I paid somewhere around £215 Inc delivery, when it was reduced from the launch price. At that price, it was a steal. I have been using it for about just over 4 years, and it has done well over 100 gigs. The noisy pot is not a problem, yes there is sometime a slight crackle when rotating the volume pot, but it does not make a noise once set. The large control knob is great, if I need to turn up quickly, it is easy. As I said before, the compressor is not fantastic but in saying that, I have not played around with it as I usually use a compressor patch on my Zoom (B14 or B6 depending on the gig). I have heard of many £1000+ amps that have a MEH compressor.
  16. Yes, but then I have never found an onboard compressor that works well since my 1973 HH VS.
  17. I currently have Roto Nexus on one bass and Daddario something on the other. The Nexus have been great, have not really changed tone in over a year, the Dadios went flatter than a Jameson flat in no time. I want something in between. Maybe a flat with a coating, but don't see much info on them here. Any advice appreciated.
  18. What are the benefits of these strings? They make TI's look cheap, so there must be something.
