  1. I already have one and decided I needed an ELF or a BAM just in case, My Bugera has just arrived. On a serious note. The power amp section is not 2000W but is a good 700W. So a great backup power amp too. 😆
  2. Think of it like this, the MBs are your HiVis everyday workwear but the Bugera is your sparkly Xmas Party frock,
  3. Although it has similar features to other brands, it is a Music Tribe design with some very nice features. The cosmetic design is a copy of the GB unit, but the fan vent has a handle in front of it. This protects the fan exhaust from being blocked. Of course the feature set has been copied, but the internals are quite different. The overlarge Volume control is very useful, as are the lighted switches. Have had one for several years but ordered another one, even though I do not need one. I don't know whether the PF800 suffered from the problems of the PF500, but the Bugera seems to be very reliable.
  4. This important, and if you tried to add another cab on the other side of the stage, you will have peaks and troughs in the low end. This is one of the reasons the LFSys* cabs are so good. The dispersion is such that on small/medium-sized stages, the whole of my 5 piece can hear me. As Dr Who said when trying to explain some phenomenon or other "it's a wibbly, wobbly, timey, whimey sort of thing". There is a science behind it, but it is complicated enough with "identical" cabinets. The results with different models is unpredictable. You need either a wireless system or long leads to walk out into the auditorium and hear the peaks and troughs you have created. *I have an LFSys Silverstone, and although I count @stevie as a friend, there is no financial benefit to me recommending them.
  5. Still waiting for mine. They are apparently "Out For Delivery" by Aliexpress, but Royal Mail don't recognise the tracking number.
  6. I believe the Pro X have a more pronounced mid-suck, or if you like bass and treble boost. The Pros are flatter, although they still have some boost at either end of the spectrum.
  7. No cab chat. What strings do you use?
  8. To be fair, Markbass cabs are not in th same class as Vanderkley and although I was not that impressed with the GR cab at the South West Bass Bash, it was better than any Markbass cab I have heard.
  9. I was looking at the opposite. JAZZ neck on a Precision Body. They are not the cheapest but Northwest's necks and bodies are interchangeable.
  10. Of course, the Aerodyne would not exist if Leo Fender had not developed the Precision and Jazz.
  11. I do not disagree with virtually all you have said. I have a Peavey P Bass that I love, £50 second hand. It was probably less than £200 new. I have the greatest respect for Leo Fender. He really gave us the tools of our trade/hobby. There was no magic, just good, solid engineering. No Tonewoods, just the woods available locally in the USA. Of course, we are all able to choose what we buy, but some of the USA made instruments have really disappointed me and the only "Fender" I have gelled with is my Japanese made Aerodyne Jass Bass.
  12. I am not doubting your word. Clearly close to £1000 was a massive mark-up by Fender and I remember checking all over the UK for a better price but could not find it.
  13. Is that not the cost rather than the value?
  14. Look at the Faitlal Pro 3/4" drivers on the Blue Aran site. You will need to model them though.
  15. I hesitate to write this, but I have emailed and message Smoothound several times over the last few months and had no replies.
  16. There was a huge music superstore in Southampton, it is not there now. The mar was whereI first saw the Black Aerodyne.Loved the look, thought that it could not plat well, played it and fell I love. That was probably 2002 although mine is a 2003 model. It was £995 or £999. I could not afford that and was not gigging ,it was a dream. sI travelled to Japan-once or twice a year, I knew of the Ishibashi Music Store in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. They had it for about £420 so I arranged a personal import and with Shipping,i nsurance and duties it came In at about £550. If it were a an available here for£600 newIwould have ought it asI had no Warranty with mine. When it arrived it was still in tune! I am not disputing your experience but could not find one here for £600 whenI ordered mine.
  17. That is likely down to the pickups. Most of the great Gibson LPs were ones 10 or more years old when The Alnico magnets had lost some of their magnetism.
  18. Telefunken were the big German valve maker and on a par with Philips and Mullard. Should be a good un.
