I don't know what @agedhorsewould say, but from my point of view, the cables soldered to the transformer should have been threaded through the hole on the terminals and either wrapped around or at least bent back on itself. It would also be a good idea to put sleeving or heat-shrink over the terminals. Those joints where the cables are just laid on the terminals are not ideal. They rely on solder, but solder does not make a good mechanical joint.

Speaker cable question (running 2x big twin 2 gen3..)
Chienmortbb replied to Benji85's topic in Amps and Cabs
Do not believe all the marketing hype. Many manufacturers quote peak power or even peak to peak power. Look at the Mackie Thump 12A here https://mackie.com/intl/products/loudspeakers/thump-series/thump12A.html#gallery-2. Quoted as 1200 watts, but the rear tells a different story. It shows a power consumption of 75W. Now, many items are quoted at 1/8 full power. On that basis, the Thump 12A has a 600W amp. I have seen inside Mackie Thumps that had a power amplifier Class D amplifier capable of no more than 300 watts, yet that was quoted as a 1000 watt amp. Many others are just as bad. -
As I said earlier, I have the Ui16 and I would also not trust the inbuilt Wi-Fi but also used the Behringer XAir 12 and XAir 18 as a FOH Tech, and they were also awful. The UI24R has a different Wi-Fi module, but it is twice the price of the UK16. According to @Phil Starrthe RCF M18 is quite stable but for me, it did not have enough mic inputs. My Ui16 runs beautifully with the TP-Link travel router.

I am not one of Mr Lee’s biggest fans but I will be doing the mod eventually. Glad you liked it.

I once had a TC 2 x 12, I am not sure what model it was but the Eminence drivers were OEM, made under licence in the Far East (so not really Eminence).
-
Exactly correct. Most PP3 rechargeable batteries are 8.4 Volts.

You can get earthed Orange cables but they are used mainly for lawn mowers so that they show up against the grass. Most are Live and Neutral only. EDIT Sorry just seen that this has been answered above.

Zoom B2-Four would seem to fit your needs.

LFSys Monza 1x10" FRFR Cab. You Little Beauty
Chienmortbb replied to funkle's topic in Amps and Cabs
As you might expect, I have heard an early version of the Monza and it was impressive. My Silverstone has been upgraded to a Monaco but of course I now have GAS for the 10”. I might as well just give @stevie my wallet! -
That looks good. https://cebek.co.uk/media/ecom/prodpdf/cebek-e-11-user-manual.pdf However the amp looks like a Class A/B, and it will be fairly inefficient.

You just beat me to it.

That one looks OK. I use the TP Link travel router https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/wifi-router/tl-wr902ac/ It has a good range and is really small. It has never let me down. However I connect it to the mixer via Ethernet and it on,y has one Ethernet port. So I bought a four port hub to go with it. The GL-iNet has three Ethernet ports and providing the wireless side works OK, would have been a good choice for me.

Gain clones are usually class AB either with bipolar or FET output stages. All need +/- supplies. If all you have is 12V then you need a module with a single supply rail. There are compromises. You can have Cheap or Quality but you can’t have both. Sadly where the cheap ones fall down is in the bass.

They were introduced at Winter NAMM 2002 so the availability would have been 2003 on. My serial number is 2004/2005. I describe the bridge as High Mass but I suppose.I mean that it is not a a BBOT. It looks much like. Gotoh 201 bridge.

That is a nice looking bass. I love my Aerodyne, it feels special when I pull the strap over my head. I have never bonded with Jazz basses, the real one with two single coil pickups.
-
£1000+ Not sure that it is special enough to warrant that price.

I have used the Behringer app and I use the web app on the Soundcraft Ui16. I prefer to use either rather than Mixing Station. It takes a lot of learning and is more aimed at Freelance Sound Engineers where they are never sure which desk/mixer they will be provided with. To be honest there is an issue with and App. As you hardware gets older, the Apps aren’t longer supported. With the Ui16, I can use a 10 year old iPad as it is controllvia a web browser. I will try with an 8 year old Android tablet later.

You have a pre/post setting on the aux send for each channel. Ican't remember but assume that that would be pre processing and bypass all EQ and dynamics.

Suggest a bass.. Let’s stick with the Pbass
Chienmortbb replied to BassAdder60's topic in Bass Guitars
Natural was mine. EDIT. My memory is going. It was my second bass. The first was a Squeir it was also a great. -
That is a later one I think, The early ones were P/J and had a high mass bridge. The jack was flat on the front, not like the Stratocaster front mounted design introduced later.
-
Can you explain the TLA?
-
All true, the AJB, jazz bass (or really a P/J) is not that hummy, but I swapped the pickups for a set of DiMarzio P/J with a humbucking jazz. The fingerprints on the black is true, of course the Aerodyne looks so cool... Be aware that the new ones have a 12" neck radius, whereas the early ones had 7.5" and some folks find that too tight.

Show us your rig of choice for the weekend ** Basschat edition**
Chienmortbb replied to bassace97's topic in Amps and Cabs
Jacks are a real danger on speaker cables. Most jack sockets from good makers like Neutrik, Switchcraft and Cliff generally rate at 5 amps. The SpeakOn/Jack Combo sockets are rated at 10 amps. However, many jacks and sockets are rated 0.5 amps. Also, SpeakOn are virtually bulletproof, whereas a shorted jack lead has broken many an amp.
