  1. I was loath to comment here. I really objected to a post on here by a BD staff member or owner. He/she criticised a manufacturer that was selling direct. I do understand that retailers hate direct sales, but it is the first rule of marketing. Do not dis the competition. You may be drive away a future valued customer that owns that brand. On to the website, it is very poor by today's standards.
  2. I have the Hipshot Ultralite versions of those on my Sire M2. I also have a set of Wilkinson for another project. Apart from the weight, I coukd not choose between the two.
  3. I sort of agree, but just use a bass amp and bypass the preamp. I use a Bugera Veyron and an Ashdown RM Retroglide 800. For dispersion, you cannot beat @stevie's LFSys cabs.
  4. These are attractive, but the mounting is wrong. The soap bars I need have the mounting screws inside the envelope of the pickup. However, they look great as a rear pickup in a P/J.
  5. Are you using the AirPods as IEMs?
  6. The HB has a cable length knob!
  7. The "witnesses" are talking ballcocks. Once you get to about 5M, I would say unbalanced is a no no. You may get away with it 9 times out of 10, but eventually it will bite you on the bum. @rmorris got it just about right. Of course, you can use a TRS connector rather than an XLR for a balanced feed (I believe the HX Stomp does this). However, having an XLR output that is balanced will cover more bases. Added to that, an XLR is locking as standard, and they are easier to lengthen just by adding another cable, something jacks cannot do.
  8. A channel 38 licence does cost each year, £75 from memory, but it is worth it. I also agree that mixing vendor's is bad. They use different RF bandwidths and channel centre frequencies, and that can cause interference from overlapping channels. In saying that, I have used the Harley Benton 5.8GHz system recently, and it seems good as long as you can live with the delay (latency).
  9. Neutrik jacks, even the ones used on instrument cables like the NP2X, will take a lot of current. The speaker jacks only have the ability to take a bigger diameter cable. It depends on the current rating of the socket. With a decent socket, they are good for hundreds of watts. I have never heard of a connector sounding farty.
  10. I have two HH bass amps (VS100 Bass and Bassamp 100) in my garage, both working well as far as I know. Manufactured 1972 and 1973. I have replaced the pots, but that is not bad for 50-year-old amps. One day I will take them to rehearsal, however they are a bit bigger and heavier than my Bugera😇.
  11. I bought OBBM’s stock and have been making cables for BCers since David retired. Cable is Sommer Meridian 2.5mm, genuine Neutrik Speakons and Jacks. Let me know the length and I will give you a quote.
  12. As it happens I have just got a new shipment of cable and connectors. 😀
  13. I used mine that way for some time before rotating it to the new way.
  14. That is what I was expecting.
  15. Most of the technical details on this amp are on the German Bass forum and hence in German, I know they had significant mods to the original design. As for the hiss, the 700AS1 is not inherently noisy. It is also the power unit for the Mesa class D and Ashdown RM800 heads.
  16. They sound pretty damn good with music, and standing in front of those ports really makes your trousers flap.
  17. While not having the eminence of many on here, I have modelled enough drivers, including the KL3010LF, to know that there is a serious amount of High Pass Filtering applied on that eminence graph.
  18. I am with you.Leo Fender at al were fantastic but sone of his headstocks were horrible. That headstock looks fine to me.
  19. I have a Milestone P bass that I could bring.
  20. Thank you all for you help.
  21. I have searched on here and cannot find any info. I have a Peavey Precision copy but the pick guard is nothing like a Fender P. It’s a bit the worse for wear and I would like a decent Tort one. Any idea who does them?
  22. Wow that is a 60 cigarettes day voice.
  23. he might just get to like it after a while then you’ll be playing bass like Les Dawson play piano. Of course hopefully you realise that you have to be extremely proficient on the piano to play as badly as Les Dawson pretended.
