  1. I have 2 stew no more please.
  2. I wonder what happened in 2016? Those money markets usually have a good reason for devaluing the. £. Maybe they just didn’t like bassists?
  3. A solution to a problem that does not exist?
  4. This is not a trick question, as I am torn on this. Apart from the cosmetics, what do you consider Music Tribe have copied from the Genz Benz? On another point for everyone. Did Genzler play on Mercedes Benz's reputation with his choice of company name?
  5. I had Elixirs on my acoustic and found them to be neither one thing nor the other. Never quite sounded like a new string, but never really faded. I almost bought some but Absolute, my local store was out of stock. To be fair, I love the feel of the D'Addarios, but I would not buy another set, as they also make Fender, that rules them out too.
  6. This price point is the third, I paid somewhere around £215 Inc delivery, when it was reduced from the launch price. At that price, it was a steal. I have been using it for about just over 4 years, and it has done well over 100 gigs. The noisy pot is not a problem, yes there is sometime a slight crackle when rotating the volume pot, but it does not make a noise once set. The large control knob is great, if I need to turn up quickly, it is easy. As I said before, the compressor is not fantastic but in saying that, I have not played around with it as I usually use a compressor patch on my Zoom (B14 or B6 depending on the gig). I have heard of many £1000+ amps that have a MEH compressor.
  7. Yes, but then I have never found an onboard compressor that works well since my 1973 HH VS.
  8. I currently have Roto Nexus on one bass and Daddario something on the other. The Nexus have been great, have not really changed tone in over a year, the Dadios went flatter than a Jameson flat in no time. I want something in between. Maybe a flat with a coating, but don't see much info on them here. Any advice appreciated.
  9. What are the benefits of these strings? They make TI's look cheap, so there must be something.
  10. I already have one and decided I needed an ELF or a BAM just in case, My Bugera has just arrived. On a serious note. The power amp section is not 2000W but is a good 700W. So a great backup power amp too. 😆
  11. Think of it like this, the MBs are your HiVis everyday workwear but the Bugera is your sparkly Xmas Party frock,
  12. Although it has similar features to other brands, it is a Music Tribe design with some very nice features. The cosmetic design is a copy of the GB unit, but the fan vent has a handle in front of it. This protects the fan exhaust from being blocked. Of course the feature set has been copied, but the internals are quite different. The overlarge Volume control is very useful, as are the lighted switches. Have had one for several years but ordered another one, even though I do not need one. I don't know whether the PF800 suffered from the problems of the PF500, but the Bugera seems to be very reliable.
  13. Wow, that is a steal.
  14. The question is why do we need the silk at all? GLWTS
  15. This important, and if you tried to add another cab on the other side of the stage, you will have peaks and troughs in the low end. This is one of the reasons the LFSys* cabs are so good. The dispersion is such that on small/medium-sized stages, the whole of my 5 piece can hear me. As Dr Who said when trying to explain some phenomenon or other "it's a wibbly, wobbly, timey, whimey sort of thing". There is a science behind it, but it is complicated enough with "identical" cabinets. The results with different models is unpredictable. You need either a wireless system or long leads to walk out into the auditorium and hear the peaks and troughs you have created. *I have an LFSys Silverstone, and although I count @stevie as a friend, there is no financial benefit to me recommending them.
  16. The packs are quiet small, and mine came through the letterbox.
  17. Yes, I checked that before I posted.
  18. Still waiting for mine. They are apparently "Out For Delivery" by Aliexpress, but Royal Mail don't recognise the tracking number.
  19. I believe the Pro X have a more pronounced mid-suck, or if you like bass and treble boost. The Pros are flatter, although they still have some boost at either end of the spectrum.
  20. No cab chat. What strings do you use?
  21. To be fair, Markbass cabs are not in th same class as Vanderkley and although I was not that impressed with the GR cab at the South West Bass Bash, it was better than any Markbass cab I have heard.
  22. I was looking at the opposite. JAZZ neck on a Precision Body. They are not the cheapest but Northwest's necks and bodies are interchangeable.
  23. Of course, the Aerodyne would not exist if Leo Fender had not developed the Precision and Jazz.
  24. I do not disagree with virtually all you have said. I have a Peavey P Bass that I love, £50 second hand. It was probably less than £200 new. I have the greatest respect for Leo Fender. He really gave us the tools of our trade/hobby. There was no magic, just good, solid engineering. No Tonewoods, just the woods available locally in the USA. Of course, we are all able to choose what we buy, but some of the USA made instruments have really disappointed me and the only "Fender" I have gelled with is my Japanese made Aerodyne Jass Bass.
