I am not doubting your word. Clearly close to £1000 was a massive mark-up by Fender and I remember checking all over the UK for a better price but could not find it.
-
Is that not the cost rather than the value?

Look at the Faitlal Pro 3/4" drivers on the Blue Aran site. You will need to model them though. -

I hesitate to write this, but I have emailed and message Smoothound several times over the last few months and had no replies. -
There was a huge music superstore in Southampton, it is not there now. The mar was whereI first saw the Black Aerodyne.Loved the look, thought that it could not plat well, played it and fell I love. That was probably 2002 although mine is a 2003 model. It was £995 or £999. I could not afford that and was not gigging ,it was a dream. sI travelled to Japan-once or twice a year, I knew of the Ishibashi Music Store in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. They had it for about £420 so I arranged a personal import and with Shipping,i nsurance and duties it came In at about £550. If it were a an available here for£600 newIwould have ought it asI had no Warranty with mine. When it arrived it was still in tune! I am not disputing your experience but could not find one here for £600 whenI ordered mine.

Wireless IEMs: Xvive U4 & alternatives

True, but very few do. -
That is likely down to the pickups. Most of the great Gibson LPs were ones 10 or more years old when The Alnico magnets had lost some of their magnetism.

Telefunken were the big German valve maker and on a par with Philips and Mullard. Should be a good un.

Except that the man/woman that control’s the FOH sound is not an Engineer. Yes I know I am a pedant but if there was a degree in sound mixing it would be a BA not a BSc. -

823-832 is technically classed as Ch38 although of course it is not CH38. Sane prices and tests toons apply but for £75 per year you are almost guaranteed no interference from the free CH70 (863-865MHz) bands WiFi or XVive etc. -
I suppose that this is the real point. The Fender Aerodyne looks fabulous and was almost faultless, remember this was a £1000 bass in 2003 in the UK. Since I have had it, I have replaced the stock machine heads with Gotoh Res-O-Lites. That really helps with the weight, although it's not a heavy bass. I have also changed the pickups to DiMarzios as I hated the buzz from the single coil Jazz bridge pickup. On the Sire Marcus Miller M2, the machine heads were not the best and I put Hipshot Ultralites on thanks to a bargain buy from a fellow BC'er. The controls, both the knobs and the feel of the pots are not perfect, but I cannot fault the preamp itself. With the bass, treble and mids set central, the volume and tome is virtually the same as when switched to passive. I van feel a preamp upgrade coming though, as my friend @Passinwindhas a couple of nice onboard designs. I might try a body and neck from Northwest next to build exactly what I want.

Aliexpress are registered with HMRC and collect VAT for them, so nothing more to pay.

Fuji General or FGN as they are now called, were part of the loose confederation Fender Japan. They now produce FGN basses and Guitars and rarely see them here. Has anyone got one?

I was just drooling over a white Aerodyne Precision and wondered if it is worth £1300? TO create context, I bought a Black Aerodyne jazz bass as a personal import from Japan in 2003. It cost me just over £400 plus about £75 in duties and charges. Was that worth it? Yes they were going for £1000 here and I love that bass. Since then, I have bought and sold a number of basses costing less than that, and each one was more than gigable. I am currently gigging a Marcus Miller M2 at £270 from Thomann, cheaper than a decent Sqeuir*. My third bass and again very gigable is a Peavey P bass. It cost £50 2nd hand and has a superb neck. So what are Fender, especially USA ones, worth? * deliberate misspelling of a Fender missspelling

We will see, I will compare mine to @Phil Starroriginal ones. Would it be ironic if Chinese companies were pirating the designs of other Chinese companies?

Good shout, they look a lot like the Comply ones but more reasonably priced and if you but the wrong size they will replace them. They are also UK based despite the .com domain name. https://www.sonicfoam.com/

Yes I had that but got this one to work. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002265655848.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.1a3b582ckpr7EJ&algo_pvid=ac1255cd-cbbb-49a4-b7c9-09ae09e9b5d9&aem_p4p_detail=202211240207109040276961833500009750871&algo_exp_id=ac1255cd-cbbb-49a4-b7c9-09ae09e9b5d9-4&pdp_ext_f={"sku_id"%3A"12000024201443869"}&pdp_npi=2%40dis!GBP!44.63!22.31!!!!!%400b0a050b16692844303613349e3a97!12000024201443869!sea&curPageLogUid=gFhiuFJm1gl7&ad_pvid=202211240207109040276961833500009750871_5&ad_pvid=202211240207109040276961833500009750871_5

I will say that I expect to replace the silicon tips with Comply ones, as I found them to be the best.

When I bought my closed back phones, I knew I wanted both wired and Bluetooth, Panasonic did a nice pair that did both so I am sorted. Like most good headphones they were not cheap, from memory about £110 even with my employee discount. I think they were £170 ish without. The only problem is the 3.5mm stereo Jack cable is too short! If only I knew someone that makes cables.😊 -
@Phil Starrtold me yesterday that he uses the KZ ZS10 Pro, that is the one I am ordering. https://kz-audio.com/kz-zs10-pro.html

Still a bit too far north for amateurs like myself. In the Primark music department, good deals at the moment on KZs https://kz-audio.com/
