I cannot vouch for all those manufacturers but I have measured the frequency response of both Ashdown MiBass 2.0 and the Bugera Veyron1001M and both have baked in HPF. As @Phil Starrsays, there is no need for the ultra low end, it just muddy's the sound, can set off unwanted room resonances as well as stealing the headroom from our amps.

From memory the BDI21 has a slightly mid scooped sound. However I never felt is was too scooped aand of course you can nreduce the bas/treble controls to compensate. I have the equipment to measure the output of the BDI21 and of course I have a BDI21 however both are in storage at the moment.

To be fair the BD!21 does give a nice slightly overdriven sound that you cannot get from any amp I have tried.

First thing I tried was the battery.

Chowny/Retrovibe to become fully UK brands

There is a reason oak is rarely used for guitars and I cannot remember why exactly. I will be back with either a reason or apology. -
That is what I have done. I thought about it for a while, I am an electronics engineer but have a number of projects on the go. I have culled my bass collection down to 2 and as the other two are both Fender style 24" thought I would try something different and I loved the colour (now discontinued). Of course I did not have much of a chance to play it but the neck seemed chunkier than my other basses.

Well despite Hermes* best efforts the bass arrived and guess what? No output from the preamp. So I can either strip it out and go passive or fit a new preamp. Or send it back as faulty. Decisions decisions. As for the pickups I could put the ones I originally had in my Fender Aerodyne. I think they mighty sound quite good in this bass. I put DiMarzios in the Aerodyne and they improved that bass. Decisions decisions! *To be fair to Hermes, I sold a bass on here and sent it this week, next day Hermes. It arrived -----next day.

Still waiting! Hermes seem to have had a major problem in the last week with the tracking system just saying major error. It looks to be fixed now and hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. 🤞Here is a picture from Reverb.

That and a number of Aria basses are based on the Matsumoto design that included the Thunder 1/1A. It is a beauty.

I have succumbed. I have a 32" Ibanez Mezzo in Sea Foam Green on the way. Purchased on Reverb. It's not new as I don't think they do this colour in a 4. Pictures when it arrives. Oh and its my first 32". I have tried short scales but did not get on with them. You never know it may turn up in the for sale on here if I don't get on with it.

I would need to have a look at both some time but mine was redrawn from the original hand drawn diagram from @stevie. There may have been small changes after that. I seem to remember that any changes were very small. @stevieis a perfectionist and the chnages would probably not be noticeable in real life.

Yes for instance there is little above 1KHz off axis on a 12 even though the spec suggests otherwise. Even with an extended on axis response, there is often a nasty effect where the cone starts to behave in an erratic manner (often called cone breakup). You can clearly see this effect on the link to th graph for an Eminence Keappalite 3012 LF. We are looking at the peak at approx 1.7KHz. The one thing this graph does not show is the OFF AXIS response. This Beyma 12" response, shows the 45 degree off axis response dotted: So at 2 KHz the output is 8-10dB down compared to the output from 200Hz to 1KHz. Incidentally the driver(s) in a single cabinet on the floor will be about 45 degrees from your ears if you are 1-2m in front of it. So it is not only the audience to your left and right that are losing out on your lovely tone. Smaller speakers have better OFF AXIS responses as can be seen by the frequency response graph for the Beyma 6CVM2. At 2KHz the fall is "only" 4dB and there is output much higher up the spectrum. @Phil Starr recently built a 6" cab loaded with a Fane 6" driver that was well received at the recent South West Bass Bash.

Was looking for a printer at the weekend. Same story, no choice anywhere.

Some basses are well under 30” and that would be too short for me. Are there r many basses around 32”? -
To be pedantic most people use FRFR to mean a powered PA Top/ Monitor wedge. My rig is Flat Range/Full Response* but ther amp is outside the cabinet and it cannoy be used as a wedge floor monitor. *I know I have crossed terms, it was deliberate.

Luckily I am retired now but I do feel your pain. I rather suspect the answer is to bring manufacturing back to Europe and the USA but will the bean counters and customers just vote with their wallets?

I think 12mm is within the normal thickness variation for 1/2" ply. I should add that 1/2" is 12.72mm. That equates to approx 2/64" undersize

If you are looking for low end, ditch the pick

Washburn is another underated brand both for acoustics and basses. I have had Washburn basss and I still have a Washburn acoustic.

I have one of the SC 440s (I think that is the model number) it has two Wilkinson Humbuckers, both with coil tap and it is great. However it is a heavy guitar.
