  1. If I had been in charge of that scrip, I might have suggested a few changes but then he is fecking right. I should add that I spent almost 50 years in various roles in TV as well as a short stint in pro audio. So it is like hearing nails down a blackboard recorded at 96KHz though a megawatt PA system to me. Just pedanting saying 😠
  2. The reason TVs are now 16:9 because that is pretty close to our real vertical and horizontal view from our eyes.
  3. Me too, the J bridge on my P/Js are rarely above a whisper and on the Sire M2 the bridge pup is barely used although both pups on that are under review. I never use the Js solo'd.
  4. Nice sound and great bass tone but why do people hold their phones in portrait mode when shooting video? 😕
  5. Just for reference, DiMarzio suggest slightly different pot values and laws. See pdf attached or go to https://www.dimarzio.com/wiring-diagrams/p-bass-style for more options. I had a long exchange via email with their tech section when I fitted their pups to my bass. The suggest Log or their own "special" pots but I can say that the tone control works better than the standard suggested wiring diagrams. The volume pot is 500K log and the tone is 250K log. Use 470K or 220K if you cannot get 500/250. Model P Wiring 8_23.pdf
  6. Those are DiMarzio pups and the addition of the DiMarzio pots seems to confirm that. I love those cream pickups.
  7. I have now got my Newtone Platinum Round Cores but I am loathe to change new strings. Any info about these Cobalt Rounds? Your you experience with them would be appreciated.
  8. Presumably that means that from the returns or aux inputs you get a much lower THD figure, more in line with the power module's base specs?
  9. I havwe decided to change the cheaper TGI one. Looking at all the better lower cost bags, they all have too many pockets for me. The great thing about the TGI Extreme is that it has one flat pocket and is really quite slim. I value my cuddly toys at home to keep them from the ruffians we play to. The TGI Transit are cheaper but offer little protection while the TGI Ultimate is up there with the major" brands at £129. I have a Hiscox hard case for those journeys that need more protection.
  10. I have never heard any real low end from a PJB cab. Is it just me?
  11. Add to that a tort Precision pick guard.
  12. Still having troubles logging in on my mobile. I will keep trying but it is very annoying.
  13. Yes it looks like an early cheap Japanese bass with that pickguard.
  14. I have one for my Fender Aerodyne and I also recommend it. I did buy the lower price TGI for my Sire but but it was not worth the saving.
  15. Not many cabs are actually DB friendly. I know some manufacturers do take account of DB but most do not. Is it worth asking for options on the DB forum? You don't say where you live so the recommendation might change with geography.
  16. That explains a lot. My PC is almost always on BC and I have had trouble with iphone and ipad. I will use my VPN on the PC in future.
  17. I have a pair of Panasonic Over Ear Headphones, 5 metre lead with in-line volume control. Not the greatest but OK for silent practice. I will see what else I can bring.
  18. We have an outdoor gig this afternoon, I will be using my practice gloves for this one.
  19. On the plus side, I did like to play bass on Ironic when I was in a band with a female singer.
  20. Snap! If he drives a car like he drives a mixer he would be banned! On to Friday's Gig. Annual Bowls Club Supper Dance. The less said about the supper the better. The audience were not the youngest we have played to as you can imagine but they were up and dancing from the start. The main lights in the hall were on all night so it was a bit more like a rehersal than a gig but we mostly had fun. Usual set up for me Fender Aerodyne Bass, Bugera Veyron amp, Zoom B2 Four plus Cand Heat Cables made by my very own hand🤩
  21. I helped do the sound (A2) at a two day Ska festival some years ago. Now my musical taste is broad although Contry and Weston and most current "urban" music are nails on a chalkboard. Anyway back to the Ska Fest. Eight bands over two days all but one did Monkey Man, some very badly and to this day the song drives me crazy. The only band that did not and really stick to the narrow gamut of Ska Classics was a band that did Ska versions of Pink Floyd songs and they were brilliant.
  22. Has anyone had any experience with these? I have just got some and they seem very dark sounding with little of no top. Is that usual?
  23. I have always looked at the 1% THD +N figure as the gold standard for amplifiers. Many hifi amps have noise figures many times better but if you can hear 1% on a bass at a gig then you are a better human than I an Gunga Din. I think Mesa via @agedhorse have IP on how the squeeze the extra power from ICEPower but I will let @agedhorse explain what he can and if he wants. I have been told by someone whose knowledge is greater than mine that the power ratings of the Mesa's are genuine.
  24. As you may know, there is a speaker design software called WINisd. IT has the option to add filters before the speaker. If you put an HPF in line even putting the-3dB point at 40Hz it makes almost no difference to the speaker response but does make your speaker headroom much great headroom and cleans up your soggy bottom.
