  1. Oh Dear. I don't buy from BD so that's a problem.
  2. Those backbeats look great but they are not cheap at $399US excluding everything. That probably equates to close to £500 including shipping, handling duties and VAT. In saying that, for me the need for the instant feedback as Billy Sheehan describes in the promo, probably makes them a necessity.
  3. Ah keyboard players. So often they wonder why the rest of us are needed as they can do it all.
  4. I have measured the frequency response of two Class D amps. One the Bugera BV1001M the other was an Ashdown MiBass 2. Both were well withing =/- 1dB from about 70 Hz to well over 10KHz when the EQ/Tone controls were set at 12 o'clock. The MiBass 2 has a more aggressive High Pass Filter and although lower powered was prbably more suited to my needs, of course I sold it. As for blind tests, I agree they are worthwhile but suspect you would be surprised at the results. We all hear as much with our eyes as with our ears and taking the visual clues out mean that the visual heft of bigger amps is negated.
  5. I feel like Cameron and Brown here but I agree with Bill and Phil. The first problem to address is the cabinet vibration and the second is the type of feet. Ask Orange about that. Third problem is the foam/rubber mat underneath. It may restrict the airflow as some amps will draw cold air from below AND the case may become warm and the close proximity of the foam/rubber matting could stop heat escaping.
  6. Yes power amp compression in valve amps sometimes allied to power supply sag in earlier valve rectified models. It leads to a more pleasing sort of distortion (compression is distortion). With solid state amps (most Class A/B, G,H and D) the amps keep getting louder until the start clipping which tends to sound harsher than from a valve amp. Some A/B amps use MOSFET outputs that distort/compress more like a valve amp, think Ashdown ABM and Trace Elliot SM. I suspect Handbox also use this topology.
  7. There are always exceptions to every rule.
  8. I have to disagree, the main benefit is a valve amp is its inherent compression.
  9. There was a common misconception that the ICE in ICEPower meant "In Car Entertainment" when in fact it meant cool as ICE.
  10. Class H is basically Class A/B but has a complex power supply/power stage design that can almost instantly use more power when required. Most of the Ramsa Amps I have owned were Class H and sounded great. All bar one now sold as they are too heavy to move around at 70.
  11. Class C is not used in audio, it is designed for radio transmitters.
  12. Just a thought. Would an ABM in a slightly narrower format be worthwhile? My cab is about 40cm wide and the overhang is an issue. The width was originally decided by the width of 19" racks but realistically very few us 19" racks now.
  13. Oh yes the days when Chicago were a rock band and not an extension of Peter Cetera's ego.
  14. The singing, as always with Randy Crawford is superb but to me again over produced. I love the sax usually but that intro is over the top.
  15. The bare bones version of the original, to me, is much better. It conveys the heartache, a case of less is more?
  16. I am next door in Poole. I will DM you with my contact details.
  17. I will be honest I like the tension of rounds but the feel of flats and do not lime the zing of new rounds.
  18. In my experience, the older Van Damme instrument cable is very prone to breaking near the plug. I don't know about the newer stuff as I stopped buying it/them.
  19. Correct.
  20. Yes. It is a cheap easy way to get that ICEPower amp.
  21. How to the La Bellas compare to TI Flats.
  22. Quilter Bass B|lock 800 seems to fit that brief at a lower price.
  23. Wow the gain goes to 30. However I cannot see its appeal as it will be probably £800 plus for a basic amplifier in a crowded market.
  24. On the subject of IEC leads, the standard is for 10 amperes but many sold now are only 5 Amperes.
  25. Interesting, what testers are you using?
