  1. It is usually very stable but i thinks , and hope, you are correct.
  2. I have just re-read your original post and I would say that with an RM500 and a Helix, you can try out many optiions and probably get everything you want from that combination (except the weight).
  3. Roqsolid or Hot Covers. I have used both and both are excellent.
  4. Yes it seems stable now but it does show the need to have more than a single bass. Thanks for your input.
  5. The two main issues are, Hum with AC heaters and some extra heat with DC heater supplies. On balance I think I would go DC as I would not want 50/60Hz anywhere near my amplifying devices.
  6. I must say that those two shiny transformers look so good although my back is twinging already.
  7. Slightly off topic. I don't remember where I saw it but recently someone was restoring an old valve amp and intended to replace the transformers. Having made transformers at EMI in the late 60s, I don't think manufacturing methods or materials have improved to the point that there is any point in changing the "iron". Or have I missed something?
  8. An awful lot of people on here use Barefaced so they must be doing something right. The question is what do you want from a cab? They are very lightweight and despite what some say, generally durable. They can be loud with highish thermal ratings but they are no more sensitive than many others. The cabs without tweeters have a limited top end obviously and to me sound dull. However that suits many on here that I respect. I understand Alex at Barefaced is willing to give customers individual advice so why not call him?
  9. This is true but for sensitivity you should use that voltage that gives 1W, so if the driver is 4 ohms, the input should be 2 volts.
  10. I was playing it for a few days and finding it fharder and harder to play without really fingering and plucking immaculately. I had played it the days before and thought it needed adjusting, but maybe I was adapting to it each day. It was a shock to see it though.
  11. In hindsight that was a silly thing for me to say.
  12. Neither of those PUPS is in the classic P Bass position but it looks like a nice bass.
  13. Why the funk did I sell my Thunder 1A? OK the preamp could be noisy at the extremes but that neck.....mmm
  14. Yes you are right. I had to turn is between 3/4 and 1 turn which is a lot. I have have only touched it ocasionally when the seaosn change and when fitting new strings.
  15. Oh dear me too. Been meaning to try them and at that price its a no brainer (i have no brain).
  16. Yes it's Grounddog day. (chien is French for dog)
  17. Or if the two outputs were from two separate power amps.
  18. That was likley to be power compression. As the speaker warms up, the coils increases in impedance so you lose volume. turn up and the speaker heats up even more and you lose more volume. Backing off would not help immediately as the heat chnages lag the That is why you need "headroom" in cab power.
  19. I will give you a bump but be aware that the "upgrade" may not appeal to everyone. Do you still have the original speaker? If so I would refit it and sell the Delta separately.
  20. The Bells catalogue, it was a young musicians porn. I poured over the pages over and over again knowing I could not afford most of the guitars in there.
  21. The bass player on many Doors songs was Doug Lubhan, bassist for Elektra stablemates Clear LIght. More at https://ultimateclassicrock.com/doors-bass-players/ The thing that made The DOORS IMHO was that they had such varied musical backgrounds. I saw them only once, at the 1970 Isle Of White Festival but can't remember if they had a bassist then.
  22. The thing with the Beatles is that the best songs were not the singles and the best Albums were Revolver and Rubber Soul.
  23. I was playing my beloved Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass the other day and thought my technique had gone to pot. Now I don't have the greatest technique so I put it down to the fact that I was not well enough to play bass for several days. The next day, the strings were flat on the frets and the neck was like a banana. I have to say that I was worried. I could not find the correct 5mm allen key so decided to order a supe duper one from my local tool and fixings supplier,. I love WERA screwdrivers (don't tell the wife) so I ordered one of their HEX PLUS extra long allen keys, it arrived the next day and |I adjusted the neck for a decent relief and... all's well. The neck has stayed in possition for about a week. Now this neck has been very stable needing only a small tweek (eight turn) occasionally for 18 years. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Can anyone explain it?
  24. How right you are. I strove for seven years to get qualifications and the experience to become an IEng and a Fellow of Whatever The Sociecty Was Called Then. Next time I got my business cards printed, there is was after mt name IEng FWSWCT. I changed jobs shortly after and they got the letters in the wrong order, I told them just to use my name instead. The novelty of having letters after my name had already worn off.
  25. I had one of the Selmer 1x18 Goliaths although not the T&B, for the life of me I cannot remember what amp was drining it. I also had a Selmer Zodiac 30, their answer to the Vox AC30 ( yes I was a guitard once). I find it stange that there were so namy T&B 50s around in the 60s/70s yet they seem to have almost dissapeared. When they do come up they are silly money though.
