TC Electronic RH450 Knobs and buttons
blunderthumbs replied to blunderthumbs's topic in Repairs and Technical
The amp was purchased direct from TC in Denmark. Real Electronics Sheffield is the UK agent for TC but they want £18 for postage of the amp to them for repair. It is easy to replace the buttons but it must be carried out by REAL or the warranty is void. -
Hi Guys. Anyone else having this problem? I know the flat buttons are prone to cracking and mine is showing these signs already But have any of your knobs started falling off (OOer Missus) Three of the knobs on my amp have come loose due to the little fins inside the knob breaking off.. Mine is still under warranty till June 2014 but it is going to cost me £18 to ship it off to Real Electronics (TC UK Agent) Sheffield. They will send me the knobs and buttons free of charge but they say if I take the front off the amp to fit them my warranty will be void I'm dammed If I am Going to shell out £18 to have something fixed that's still under warranty!! I have emailed TC Electronic direct but they are not responding to my emails. Great customer service Ehh?? What is stopping this from happening again when the new buttons and knobs are fitted??
The reality is these are poor copies, yet they sell for a vastly inflated price over other copies as they are a copy of a sought after instrument (debatable) I have seen them at circa £500, if they were not a copy, they would be £150 instuments, they certainly have the build quality. Just My opinion, but I would rather have a nice genuine fender badged precision at that money than a poor copy of a Rick, Your still the bloke with the copy on stage and that is not worth £500 of anyones cash. As for the price of Ricks, well they are a bespoke minor scale manufactuer of a quirky instrument and the market is purely supply and demand. same with anything, I own far more other basses than Ricks including 5 Fenders, but I have never been a copy happy owner. Bit like having a fake porsche . At the price they shift these copies for they should at least take time to make sure they play out of the box. The argument on Budget line, why should they, they have a 30 month waiting list, they are in proffit and they enjoy what they do.
I have owned one Rickenbacker 4001 one 4003 and an early Ibanez lawsuit Ric copy back in the 80's. Don't know what all the fuss is about re genuine Rics. They are not the be all and end all.... The Ibanez was just as good as the Rics and the build quality of the particular Ibanez I owned was superb. If it had been fitted with a Ric TRC I doubt anyone would have noticed any difference. I don't now own or will ever own again a Rickenbacker bass as I think a certain CEO (We all know who I mean) Is totally over the top dictating who can and can't advertise any bass that remotely looks like the ones that he manufactures. Rant over -

Dings give a bass it's mojo... I'd leave em. -

Just Bought a Status strap off David. Came all the way from Hungary. Only took a few days and his communication was spot on. Bargain price and strap looks brand new. Well pleased with my purchase Cheers David.

Great thread. I took my RH450 head out today to rehearsal (Not used it for a few months) I noticed that the control knobs were falling off, three of them anyway. When I looked inside the knobs I noticed the little fins that grip the shaft of the potentiometer had broken and thus not gripping onto the shaft. I need to obtain some replacements from TC. Just wondering how long it will be before my buttons start showing signs of cracks and how easy it is to get new ones from TC ??

Ashdown Abm cabs Which replacement speakers?
blunderthumbs replied to blunderthumbs's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks for the advice guys. When I bought my first Ashdown rig (ABM 4x10" 500w combo coupled to an ABM 1X15" 300w cab) back in 2000 they fitted Celestion speakers. But now they use these Blue Line drivers which to be honest don't sound as good. I'm sorry I sold my combo and cab as the sound out of these compacts are lacking a bit. Might try an Eminence 15" driver and see what happens. -
Hello fellow chacebatters I am currently using two Ashdown ABM compact cabs and I'm disappointed with the sound I'm getting from the standard Blueline drivers. They are the 1x15" 300w and 2x10"+H 300w. I'm thinking of replacing the drivers with Eminence, Fane or Celestion. Any suggestions ???. I sold my Abm 2x10" 500w combo and ABM 1x15" with Celestions in to buy these two cabs and to be honest they don't come near soundwise. I'm using them coupled to an ABM Evo II 500w head. They just don't have that thud I used to get with the combo and separate 1x15" cab. (It was an old pre Evo combo)

Does your keyboard player want to join a Cheshire based function band with a less hectic gigging schedule?? We are looking for an experienced keyboard player to play pretty much what you are doing but probably more soul songs. -
