Hello Basschatters. I have recently traded my Rickenbacker 4003 for a Limited edition Musicman Sterling Black Onyx number 132 0f 150. For insurance purposes I need to put a value on this. As there are not many of them around I have had to guess at £1500. Obviously they where only made in 2002 so I couldn't replace it with a new one. Any ideas.? If you bought a new Fireglo 4003 it would not be in better condition than this, it is mint and you would have to wait 6 or more months unless you find a dealer with one. And having just trawled the net Sept is the earliest I can find at a price of £1600. Not even Thomann have got one. Come and have a look and play it you won't be disappointed.

Only because I don't use it I have decided to put this up for sale or trade. Week 11 of 2004 Rickenbacker 4003 fireglo in immaculate condition and I mean Immaculate !! I have removed the bridge pickup cover (As most do) and fitted a black pickup surround which fills in the nasty gaping hole you see when the cover is removed. This bass is absolutely mint no scratches or bucklerash and plays as a Ric should. Comes with genuine Ric case (Not cracked) Spare set of Rickenbacker strings, Cloth, booklet, keys and leather strap. I would like £1250 for her or trade for MM Stingray, Status, Warwick or anything else that might interest. I also have the vintage tone push pull conversion kit for it but have not got round to fitting it.[attachment=106062:IMG_1967.JPG][attachment=106063:IMG_1968.JPG][attachment=106064:IMG_1969.JPG][attachment=106065:IMG_1971.JPG][attachment=106066:IMG_1972.JPG][attachment=106067:IMG_1973.JPG]

Who does JH think he is GOD??? I own a 4003 Fireglo Ric at the moment and am seriously thinking of selling it never to buy another one. They are not the be all and end all of basses, there are far better bass manufacturers out there that don't get all high and mighty when somebody tries to copy them. Bloody hell how many Fender Jazz and Precision copies are on the market New and secondhand. You never hear of people getting their ads pulled selling any of these. Get over yourself Mr Hall !!!!!!

Ric 4003 vintage tone conversion kit
blunderthumbs replied to blunderthumbs's topic in Repairs and Technical
Colin of Sound Me Out has very kindly emailed a diagram of what I need to do to fit the kit to my Rick. Thanks. -
Has anyone got any instructions of how to fit the vintage tone conversion kit to a Rickenbacker 4003 bass. The diagram I got with the kit is far from clear to a novice like me. As much detail as possible will help me no end with clear photos if possible. I can't read circuit diagrams so something simpler will be very helpfull. Cheers. Basschatters.

I read somewhere you can't use them with Rickenbackers as something in the foam reacts to the laquer...........Is this true?

I am very bloddy tempted with this gorgeous blue Ric. I have an IMMACULATE fireglo 4003 and I mean immaculate. Not a blemish or chip anywhere. the guy I bough it off never gigged it and I have only gigged it twice. It was made 4004. serial 04-11813. It's a shame you don't live closer we could compare. I live in Cheshire.
