1. It's always about everyone's ear and taste. If I were you I would buy a used Stingray with 3 band EQ and with ceramic pickup. Regarding rosewood or maple board, choose your favourite one. Good luck with your choice.
2. Sorry to hear this. It's a warning for all of us to pay the full insurance. I hope the bass will find somewhere or you get your money back. Please let us know the result. Crossing my fingers!
3. For me my Ibanez Musician MC924 I bought in 1982.
4.
Depends on the song, some may take just playing it a couple of times. I think guys run into problems when your trying to learn a song you don't have the chops or skill to learn it. Blue
Yes!
5. I'd say the reasons may vary. For example, if I want to sell my 1965 Precision, I'll consider this option as it's rather difficult to sell such instruments here in the Czech Rep. Also it may be a problem to sell my bass here on BC as you'll want to check a bass before you spend £5000. So I would ask The Gallery, Bass Direct, or Andy for their offers and suggestions. To be honest, I've never done that so I cannot say what would be my final decision.
6. My ears like the first Stingray with the ceramic pickup however my heart beats for the Classic one
7. Great pair! Btw, my 1965 Precision would match them perfectly
8.
They might know very well what it is, and they're just chancing their arm. Put a high price, hope someone fancies it. It doesn't actually state it's a bass from 1960; it just describes the instrument, and puts a year at the end (they could easily argue that was a description of its appearance -- "it looks a bit like old 1960s basses, that's all I meant"). And it actually says they paid just over four dollars for it. Quite a clever ad, if that's the case -- it doesn't actually tell any lies. Caveat emptor and all that.
I agree with Zenitram's opinion...
9. Please buy this bass someone before I go mad. Few days late, anyhow, happy birthday Zwartm!
10. 51, born in March. I don't take the age too seriously so it may be the reason I feel good and young. I play with two bands and I like how the age is balanced between them: 60, 54, 51, 49 against 19, 24, 31, 32, 39, 49, 51. Keep on rockin'!
11. I cannot see any reason to vanish. Certainly, once the day will come...
12.
hi i was interested in this bass but i put myself a limit of 1000 €. Also in your photos i don't see the signed pickguard.
Like all of them, my Noel Redding JB has the signature faded as well. You can see only a trace of the signature in a certain angle against the light. I think it is almost imposible to make a photo of it. A great bass.
13. Haven't done a deal with Karel so far (except for strings) but we know each other quite a bit. Have complete confidence in Karel. Vilem
14. I reckon the price +/- £300. Interested in the first reviews and videos what it is like.
15. I've used UPS for international deals many times and I've been satisfied so far. Anyhow, there is always a certain risk whichever courier you use. So now and then I use the opportunity to make a trip and I pick up the bass in person. Thanks to that I've visited Amsterdam, Linz (Austria) etc. Good luck with your choice.
16. I am a big fan of both and have seen both twice. When there is another opportunity I will go again but I prefer to see them seperately.
17. Not easy to answer when it's a friend of the band. There will be always different points of veiw. I like LewisK1975's post above that in his band they have a rule where each of them can have one gig every year for families and friends, where they only charge fuel etc. I am going to suggest it in our band. Thanks for inspiration!
18. Thank you all for welcoming and reading.
19. As we all can agree, it is not essential. You can still be a great musician. However, those of us, who can read music well, are less limited than we other are. My ability to read music is poor but lately I've been working on this issue a little bit
20. Hi Bluejay! Pretty collection! Haven't seen so many lefty ones together!
21. I always do my best to avoid dings, but sometimes it happens and it can hurt like hell. Some days ago a scredriwer slipped out of my hand and the result is the first tiny ding in my Jazz Bass.
22. Last month our band looked for a new guitarist. We've chosen already but I always feel very uncomfortable when informing the others about the result. It's easy to make a mistake or to hurt someone who turns to be a better choice later (as Machines above for example).
23. Yes, it's a problem of most of us. Anyhow, if there is only 15 minutes regularly a day left for practising, it could still be significant. But we should avoid playing the songs we know or playing nonsense. We should devote all the time to practise technique and fully concentrate on left and right hand's fingers whatever we play, etc. Sorry if I'm not right but that I was told many times.
24. I am always trapped by the music. So I feel ashamed when other people, unlike me, know the lyrics when there is an opportunity to sing (both in English and Czech)
25. Not my current ones (two years ago) but I liked all of them.
