1. How heavy are the power conditioner, tuner and compressor? Could you put the LH500 in a 2/3 unit plastic rack case and use outboard versions of the things you really need to go with it?
2. Definitely looks interesting - I use a B2 all the time now for muted tuning, 1 patch for chorus, 1 patch for flange, 1 patch for autowah etc etc. I also have a dedicated patch with a louder signal for if I swap from a louder to a quieter bass.
3. I will look into this - but I'd expect it to cost quite a bit since it's fairly heavy.
4.
I dunno, id see if i could at least try a Hartke LH500 before id buy a new cab. When i first got mine, I plugged it in to my old cab and the resulting sound was so loud and unexpected that I fell of my stool (I sit in front of the cab) after doing my usual opening strum.!
Almost! I got a HA3500 on ebay for a very good price, and it's really done a great job in the 2 gigs since
5. Well done fella, I'm very glad to hear that you're playing
6. I have for sale my Ashdown MAG 300r bass guitar amplifier (made in England ~2003/2004) and Protex 2u flight case. Same spec as the usual MAG 300 just designed to live safely in a flight case, which it has since it was bought by me. 2 x speaker outputs, VU input level display (bulb replaced a year or 2 ago), 307 watts rms into 4 ohm load, 180 watts rms into 8 ohm load. Power section was replaced less than 2 years ago (after an incident with a dodgy electric supply in a Leeds boozer) at a cost of ~£100, I can probably dig out the receipt for this work. This amp has been very well looked after but has done a lot of gigging and travelling. The amp is almost spotless - the finish is slightly damaged around where screws have been taken in/out but this can hardly be seen. Also, one of the screws is missing from the amp's casing when I had to replace a slow-blow fuse at a gig. Price for both amp and flight case £100 ovno I can deliver to Harrogate or West Yorkshire area for free, subject to arrangement, probably a bit further for fuel costs.
7. Both! Their will be influences that begin in-utero (and possibly earlier if you believe some of the thinking on epigenetics), so basically it's impossible to completely separate the genetic and environmental influences.
8. The pups and pre-amp in my Millenium AC BXP (same as the Cirrus range) are a match for anything within a similar price range. The bass is light and ergonomic, suits me fine.
9. Shhh, still trying to keep it untrendy
10. Boiling them is bad and will reduce their life (but give some zing back temporarily). Clean them before and after every set/ practice session. They should last years.
11. Hmmm, food for thought. My options are fairly limited both in funds and how many/how big cabs I can take - at least I have very good PA support. Thanks for the input, it's much appreciated.
12.
A few more watts really isn't going to make an appreciable difference. Need to identify what is missing at current, and work from there. Usually it is the cab that is the limiting factor on volume, and 'lack of valves' is most cheaply remedied with hot glue and a wanted ad.
I play in a loud band in some tiny pubs, so yes, lack of cab size is probably the main limiting factor - I sometimes only take my 2x10 which isn't very loud. I thought that a little bit more juice might help - I get the impression that it's the amp that's struggling rather them my cab farting when I just use my 2x10.
13.
Most amp manufaturers (Except a few, Bugera Nuke anyone?) quote RMS, Hartke included. Liam
Cheers fella!
14. Hi Guys, I'm looking for a slight upgrade from my Ashdown MAG 300r (valve pre, and hopefully a little bit more power). At 4 ohms my current amp does 307 watts RMS and 500 peak - I know the Bugera for example quotes 550 watts peak (not much different). So, does anyone know if Hartke specs are RMS or peak? [I know that there are a lot of other considerations but this will help me ]
15. 17th December @ normal fee - it might be a good night for the pub but you'll also play quiet times (eg just before payday) when the pub might make nowt from you. NYE double your normal +/- any extras you have to do (eg 3 long sets), dressing up/party things or if owt's provided.
16. Our drummer got himself a little Transit Connect which is economical and has massive interior space. He gets full drum kit, full lighting rig and all our PA (except for the main subs) in the back. The sliding side door is really useful when there's not much space.
17. Cheers, I'm very interested - no need to check the weight though, I was just after a rough idea .
18. Hi mate, I have a couple of questions: 1. Can you get a usable overdriven sound for regular use? (ie not just a boost) 2. Any idea of the weight of the combo? (I realise that it's not going to be super light but it looks fairly compact). ta, Jon
19. Why not tell the mouthy band member to 'button it'?
20. Good, we're doing as many as wanted to do, ie about 4 a month. We've all got families and this suits us all. I occasionally do dep gigs as well, and our singer and lead guitarist both record their own material at home, and collaberate with online projects.
21. About 4 years ago in rehearsal when drummer and guitard were too loud. Never in a gig,
22. I may have a MAG 300r available soon. It's lived in a flight case since it was bought new. It will be in it's flight case with a couple of spare slow-blow internal fuses.
23. Are you gonna have decent PA support? If so, you should be okay - otherwise, you might be struggling. Suck it and see,
24. Ha ha, like it. In our band I have 2 x Peavey basses, 1 x Peavey 1x15 cab, PA = 2 x Peavey 2x15 cabs, 2 x Peavey 1x18 cabs, 2 x Peavey 1x15 cabs [all subs/bass cabs]. Top cabs = 6 x Peavey 1x15 cabs with various horns, ohmage and crossover configurations. I've also had Peavey Century and Megabass heads in the past.
