  1. Transcribe software, laptop, interface, headphones! Works for me.
  2. Maybe have a look at the free stuff that Scott puts on YouTube then decide if he's right for you?
  3. Makes perfect manufacturing sense! That was mine, I miss it in some respect, was just a pain to get it in & out of the car!
  4. Have you considered getting rid of it? My 425 has VVT now & is much better for it!
  5. I used a 2/10 contour with a 2/10 focus cab. Sounded great & the focus cabs come up for sale often. I still use two focus 1/12's & am more than happy with them.
  6. I had a Shuttle 6 & it was great, loved the mids controls. Sold it to Phil Mann in the end!
  7. I had the same experience and agree it's very frustrating, however....... It's a learnable skill, what has been working for me is loads of ear training and working on audiation. It's sounds stupid (and obvious) now when I think about it and it took me years to figure out that playing any instrument well enough to improvise comes from being musical within. I now believe that to make the most of your practice you should spend at least as much time working on your musicianship as working bass in hand. Just learning your intervals can pay huge dividends, if you know them well you'll keep up enough in a jam. Get comfortable with singing and sing everything, scales, bass lines, melodies everything!
  8. LMii & GB Focus cabs, all bought on the cheap (used) & perfect for my needs.
  9. I tried that! They ended up in the garage for years, I'm a Bass Hoarder
  10. All the packaging my new Lâkland came in, ideal if you're posting a bass anytime soon! Collection from Wolverhampton/Walsall area, I'll keep it for a week then it's off to the tip.
  11. I'm a proper bender, I even bend for total strangers at the weekend, but I play funk so being open about ones bending is perfectly normal.
  12. Took a better picture of the 55-01 today, still loving this one.
  13. They were but as Pete says they were the budget end of the range. Price point aside most 12 offerings these days are all 300w and above. Agreed I wouldn't know about the construction aspects other than they seem pretty solid. I'm going to take one apart to get the internal dimensions so I guess I'll know more then. They are good as they are but I do think they're ripe for the pimping :-)
  14. I shall get it apart & get all the measurements including the internal dimensions, the port does have dividers & I'll investigate those too. I'll have a Google but I do try to avoid talkbass as a rule In terms of euphemisms I have definitely pushed one harder than I perhaps should have but it's still useable. I think they're great cabs but underpowered by today's standards hense the desire to load them with something more capable. I could buy something else but I'm all for experimenting.
  15. Thanks again for all your help! The cab dimensions (external) are: H410mm, W440mm, D300mm & the port is a full width shelf and is 120mm from the front grille to where the wood ends & the void begins. Thanks again chaps.
  16. That's very kind of you @Gottastopbuyinggear the cabs are Genz-Benz Focus 1-12's, I'll get the engineers rule out & take measurements if you are sure you don't mind. I'm not really after massive improvements in sound I'd just like to be able to drive them harder & one has started to crack & pop at higher volume's.
  17. Thanks for your input chaps. I guess then @Bill Fitzmaurice without the modelling software or the data for the existing drivers any change could just be an expensive & futile experiment. The cabs in question are Genz-Benz so I wonder if Mr Genzler could advise on suitable replacements
  18. Just curious as to what factors should be taken into account when replacing existing drivers in front ported cabs. I have a couple of 12's that are rated at 200w each & they are starting to sound a bit tired. I'd rather keep the cabs & upgrade the drivers (with a higher rating) than buy new ones but I know there's more to it than just chucking anything that fits in. Any advice gratefully received. Ta
