1. I'm not sure how many of you are aware of Forest & Eric at http://www.jazzadvice.com but for the last few years I've found them to be a valuable resource for tips on tidying up my practice habit's, they also produce some pretty inspiring posts. I'm not a Jazzer by any means but their methods are transferrable to any instrument in any genre. Check them out!!!!!!! Steve ( I am not affiliated in any way, just like sharing useful resources)
2.
Looks like its 1994 , with the flea bridge Gonna plug it in and mess around with it later
Best era in my opinion.
3.
Good riddance. The mods on that forum were idiots.
Lol, you weren't that bad mate :-)
4. Wouldn't mind seeing/hearing one of these in the flesh. Wonder what the premium price tag will be.
5. Go on then :-p
6. If you decide to go down the laptop/interface route I highly recommend the Transcribe software.
7.
I think that's the era I'm gonna try for. My brother in laws stingray just feels right. Shame he won't sell it to me, even though I have rescued it from his loft!
Just get divorced & employ avoidance tactics, apparently possession is 9, 10'ths of the law :-)
8. Early 90's Stingrays tick all the box's for me, 3 band, figured & lacquered necks, mutes, truss rod wheel & contoured body.
9. Good score, I really like the concept,
10. Always been intrigued by these but can't help but think Sandberg missed a trick by not including a five string in the range
11.
What if it doesn't sound good ?
Then your unlikely to play it again & have learnt something. I'm by no means knocking theoretical knowledge I was just trying to imply that ear training is equally important & often overlooked.
12. If I were starting over again from scratch I'd concentrate mostly on ear training. Start simple with intervals & build on from there, music theory knowledge is necessary to some degree but not the be all and end all. If you have a good ear you can pretty much play whatever you hear in your mind with little theoretical knowledge & if it sounds good then who cares why it works.
13. Looks ace, mine was done over a year ago & I still catch myself looking at it like a teenage boy checking out the French teachers arse :-p
14.
You want to know what will make you a better musician. It's your ears, it's all your ears.
What Hector said. The way I see it is, there are two types of player, those that can learn from scores or tab & regurgitate other people's music albeit with there own style then there are those that have a good ear & understand musical language & freely play the music in their heads in real time. I believe talent is not inherent & can be developed & I also believe that most people neglect musicianship during the learning process. If you have a good ear & can keep good time then the world is your lobster. In short then, train your ears everyday, listen (properly) to music everyday, sing everything you play, tap out rhythms, go to gig's often etc etc. If your a reader I highly recommend reading "The Talent Code" & "The Musician's Way" in that order.
15. & to add to what I mentioned above, if you use a metronome you can work on your sense of time also then to expand on that try playing different rhythms. That way you've given your technique, musicianship & creativity a workout all at once.
16. Try practicing slapping something simple like a minor pentatonic etc focusing on getting a clean attack, also try muting with the fleshy parts of your fingers on the left hand. Practice slowly at first then gradually build speed once you have the accuracy down. Oh & don't over do it,ten minutes a day & you'll have it in no time.
17. Paul has just bought my Genz cabs, he is a pleasure to do business with & spot on with communication. Trade with confidence.
18.
Are these gone?
On hold until the weekend for another member, if it falls through do you want me to give you a nudge?
19.
What's the problem selecting a courier? Just general confusion or is the cab in question particularly big and/or heavy. If you just want a general recommendation use UPS booked via Interparcel. I've used them for hundreds of parcels and the only once have a I had a damaged parcel and then the insurance paid out promptly and in full. I've never encountered a problem with parcel size and I've sent some fairly large things. However they do have a weight limit of 50kg. If you cab in the packaging is over the weight limit then the best price I found was by going direct to TNT, but don't expect it to be cheap.
Just confused generally, lots of different delivery/collection options. I'll go with UPS as suggested & strangely enough I've had a new bike delivered this morning so I'll get busy with the scissors. Cheers all.
20. Thanks Gary/Phil I shall indeed avoid Yodel like the plague, in my own experience they are rubbish.
