1.
Hi Steve, Listing 151p as recommended and a bump from me
Cheers Alistair :-)
2. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/261882-genz-benz-contour-500-2-10-fsft/page__pid__2787920#entry2787920 Shameless plug :-) A good combo will cover most bases and cost less but if you want modular a nice class d head & lightweight cab or two work wonders.
3.
If you want deceptively simple funk then you need to get your head into the Meters:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phUTCsVAKXA
I was also gonna suggest the Meters & if you fancy something newer check out Brother Strut
4.
There should be lots of love for this. It's a superb 500w class D lightweight head with a 210 cab thrown in as a bonus.
Cheers cachao
5. Rappers Delight is a good one to learn ( it's all about feel). Under the Bridge was my first.
6.
Well the tobacco burst one went back yesterday and I was supposed to get the caramel one today but the couriers decided that they'd rather deliver it back to the shop that I was buying it from - idiots The upshot is that I will be gigging this weekend with no back up as they can't get one to me until Friday and I'll probably be half way to Aberdeen by the time it arrives. I've spoken with the guy who's been looking after me and he's left it with me to decide what I want to do as originally I had said that if they couldn't get one to me by today then I'd have to cancel the order. I will say that I've had excellent service so far from Yamaha Music London where I bought it from and they've done everything possible to get things sorted out. But it's kind of taken the shine off getting it now so I really don't know what to do.
I'd still make the purchase, the 1-0's are leaps ahead of the 4-2's in my opinion & I have both. Not that there's anything wrong with the 4-2's. In a few weeks you'll have forgotten about the inconvenience & you'll just be diggin on your new bass.
7. So it appears bestbassgear did their job & my bridge was delivered last Wednesday. Where it was delivered is anybody's guess, Royal Mail have told me they will investigate & it will take 72 hrs then they have 7 days to inform me of their findings. It has gone through the local sorting office so it shouldn't be miles away but I doubt it'll ever find its way here :-(
8. Purchased new from Bassdirect Christmas 2013 & used for only a handful of rehearsals and one gig. 300 watts standalone or 500 with an extension cab, nice eq with parametric mids & di out. Immaculate condition. Located in the West Midlands & your welcome to come & try it out or I can meet within reason. Pm for more info. Steve *trade for Markbass NY121 cab or similar.
9. I haven't gigged this set-up yet but my motives for buying it were the same as the op. It took me a while to find the second cab but got there in the end & it's very stable stacked.
10. Seems like a pretty safe bet then, thanks for your input :-)
11. Thanks for that man, I just saw the free delivery & now you've said they're good I'll put my order in. 40 quid for a Hipshot Vintage 5 string can't be bad :-)
12. Just wondering if anyone had used bestbassgear.com & if so what were they like in terms of delivery time & cost? I'm looking for a Hipshot bridge but can't find one with the correct string spacing in the UK. Cheers Steve
13. I have just bought one of Harry's focus cabs (after a long time searching) & it's arrived quickly & exactly as described from Holland. Harry's communication was great throughout & he's a real ambassador for Basschat. Thanks Harry :-)
14.
Actually I intended to sell this one. But hey, I can not let it go ...
I can see why, it's luurvly!
15. I think you answered your own question there, learning all the parts to a song & not just the bass lines opens up a whole new understanding in my opinion. It's not easy at first but as progress happens it becomes easier to deconstruct the piece & single out the individual parts. I think I remember a video where Jaco recommended this approach. *edit, this thread would probably do better in GD, mods?
16.
It is 390 for the amp, 130 a piece for the cabs, excl shipping. At this stage though I can only offer a "will keep you in mind", if I decide to split.
Absolutely, I understand completely. Please keep me in mind :-)
17. I could be interested in one of the cabs (price depending) if you decided to split.
