1.
Sounds like people are holding onto their Genz heads then, what a daft situation that you can't just buy them new!
Or the cabs, I'm desperate for another focus 2/10
2. I have trouble going the other way, I play fours & a five & the fours always feel strange after playing the five but going to the five from a four feels natural (if that makes sense). My advice would be to get a custom to both unless your planning on just using the peavey, in that case put the BB away.
3. Thanks for the info Jim, I've been researching & I think I'm going for the East BTB01 instead. It's more expensive but seems very highly regarded. I've spoken to Jon Shuker & he's going to install it & do a few other bits while it's there. Cheers Steve
4. I'm thinking of trying one of these in my Yamaha Bb, it'll be the stacked version I'd fit. Anyone had any experience with them? good, bad or indifferent? Cheers Steve
5. I've just retired my Sony MDR-v500's that I've had for fifteen years and replaced them with Audio Technica ATH-M50x's. Incredible headphones and only £107 from Thomann. Check them out
6. You can get Android head units now Kiwi, might be worth considering given the unfortunate demise of hard copy music.
7.
Came across this while looking for answers why bass is better sounding when loud. It might explain also why, when i play loud i can't hear all the remaining overtones etc i find hard to mute. And why i hate the sound when playing through headphones. http://www.award-session.com/pdfs/Why%20Do%20Amps%20Sound%20Better%20When%20Loud.pdf So good excuse to practice loud .
If it were me dude I'd be practicing through headphones to hone my technique to minimise the unwanted noise, not masking it by playing loud. I guess it depends on what you expect from your playing, personally I love my sound through headphones.
8. Thanks for all your views fellas. I'm gonna have a good think & decide what to do. There really isn't anything wrong with my two 2/10's (i love the small footprint when stacked vertically) so I guess it's gas & it might pass. Also I'm after another focus 2/10 for a friend if you should see one about lemme know!
9. I transcribe everything (but I don't write it down so is it really transcribing), in fact it's probably the thing I enjoy most. Admittedly I'll use Audacity in order to loop parts & slow them if necessary. I also play in a three piece covers band & we play everything our way, because we can. Anyone can play the original but I prefer it when a band add their own stamp to their set. Our reggae version of 'I Need a Dollar' is killer even if I do say so myself :-)
10. Congratulations Dropzone, we're going in December for the wife's 40'th. Will be watching this thread with interest.
11. I hear good things about the 2/12 configuration & on the back of that I'm considering buying h8dabass's Genz cab from the f/s forum. I currently use two Genz 2/10's @ 500w 4ohm & I'm wondering if I'll notice much difference with the 2/12 with the same amp? Weight isn't an issue really & I don't mind lugging two cabs in. So, has anyone tried both these configurations & if so what did you prefer & why? Will the 2/12 pack as much punch given the reduced surface area? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts! Cheers Steve Forgot to mention the cab I'm looking at is 4ohm so I'll be getting the same full beans from the amp.
12. Oh man, this is a can of worms your opening! I'm neither for or against, it's different strokes for different folks.
13. Take a look at jazzadvice.com there's lots of inspiration there & you don't have to be a jazzer. The practice log is a good idea too, knowing what you want to improve on & how your going to do it are key to good practice habits. I hardly ever pick the bass up without knowing what I want to achieve beforehand & since I adopted this approach I've seen huge gains in technical ability. I'm always transcribing something too (although I never write it down so I guess it's not really transcribing) & me ear is coming along nicely.
14. Cheers Pete. After visiting the doc the outcome was the my symptoms aren't severe enough or persistent enough for him to advise surgery. I've also seen him in the past for sleep related issues & he thinks the two have a connection, well the severity of the numbness anyway. I'm currently trailing sleeping with my wrists in a neutral position (not easy for a side sleeper) & it helps massively. I also have a pair of braces that I can use if need be but so far being conscious of my position when I get into bed & the odd anti-inflammatory seem to be fending off the numbness but for how long is anyone's guess.
15.
The Bongo is gone to Portugal... A new Bongo will coming soon!
Mmmm, I wonder what colour that'll be :-)
16.

Wasn't there a Bongo in the set too?
17. Have goals. Write down what you want to achieve in say a month, then write down how your gonna do it & how much time your going to commit in that period. Make sure your goal is achievable & stick to your allotted time. After every session write down what you did & review it weekly. You must always make practice a deliberate & thought out process & evaluate often.
18. I love Bb's but the chrome looks a bit chavvy to me, of course its different strokes for different folks as always.
19.
600w @ 4 ohm
That's as I thought, if it's still here payday you'll have a pm
20.
Could always do some exercise.
:-0
21. Can you tell me if it's 8ohm or 4 please?
22. All I'd ask from the Pro's is a Groupie porn thread, pictures or it didn't happen. That's all.
