1.
What do you do about keeping the lacquer off the frets, do they have to be masked up?
Mine were removed then replaced after painting, wasn't cheap but it's an awesome finish. I asked for it to look & feel like a Classic & that's exactly what I got. Couldn't be happier with it, in fact Jon took pictures for his website & they'll be better that my rubbish phone ones. Edit* removing the frets helped with the cleaning & sanding of the fretboard.
2.
I`ll keep you posted . Pete
Please do Pete, I said earlier I'm reluctant to have surgery but many here have & no horror stories so I'll see if I can get a referral for a specialist.
3. Thanks fellas I'll see the gp on Friday so I'll quiz him. I haven't had the numbness for a couple of nights but my two fingers on my left hand are a bit stiff this morning.
4.
Very nice 😎
Cheers, you know it! No gigs this month so the world (or at least the west end club) will have to wait until March to hear it.
5. I don't find lacquered necks sticky at all, but I understand some do. Different strokes for different folks & all that.
6. I think part of the problem is the negativity regarding the op, even the NHS website says it has limited success. I'm going back to the doctors anyway so I'll discuss options with him.
7.
I dislike bare necks.... and I think it is a cut corner idea that has caught on but I'll always want mine finished. Those gruby necks look awful to me....disgusting even
My thoughts exactly, mines pearl blue and catches the light but the neck was dull & didn't suit the bass at all. It had started to look like weathered garden furniture so I took the plunge & now everything sparkles :-) Mr Shuker removed the frets to paint the neck & he's refretted it with stainless & I have to say the fret work is amazing. Not a rattle anywhere.
8. Thanks for the info again. It is doctor diagnosed so I'm confident that's what it is. If it starts to hurt I'll consider surgery but I'll try to live with the numbness. It's in both wrists btw but far less severe in the right.
9. Just back from Jon Shuker after having the neck lacquered in a nice vintage tint. it's difficult to photograph but if you seen a Classic Ray then it's the same tint as that. Jon's done an outstanding job, it plays as good as it looks.
10. Thanks for the replies. Interesting how diet can play a role in this, I guess inflammation has many causes. It's not painful for me it's the numbness that I get, this topped with restless leg syndrome can mean some pretty frustrating nights. I did notice ibuprofen help but obviously I don't want to be taking them every night so I'll research braces/splints & give those a try. Cheers
11. Recently Ive been having another bout of Carpal Tunnel symptoms, most annoyingly the numbness at night keeping me awake. It got me wondering how others manage with it & how do folk treat the numbness? I can't be the only one here who suffers. Cheers Steve
12.
Thanks! Annoyingly the clover leaf on the G and G machine heads have started to rattle and come loose after a bit of playing. Think I might need to get a vice on them or something to squeeze the surround back into place. Currently have a pick wedged in to stop the movement.
Are they adjustable? Most new Yamahas are, just tweak with an allen key
13.

What is that awesome looking think? (the bass not the beard)
14.
This is the coolest way to play one:
The prosecution rests your honor :-)
15. Bump, now for straight sale. Offers considered.
16. If I'm perfectly honest, I thing even the greatest player in the world would look a nob playing that :-p
17. I can't help getting it from the smoke but I could get it from the Midlands to up't north (im on my mobile, can't see your location) if someone could get it to the Midlands.
18. Can't comment on a P bass but the volume pots on a jazz can alter the tone quite dramatically, more of a pickup balance thing but definitely tone altering.
19. All great entries this month but one stood out way above the rest for me, Skols rage esque anger fuelled awesomeness. Good work all.
20.
That's a beauty! I like my sunburst, but a white one would be cool! Si
It's very cool, the board is almost black. Only minor tweeking to get it playable too.
21. I have no beef with the looks! Cracking value for money.
22. We do it in E & I use the root, 4th,5th & b7 below then p4 hammered on to p5 b3 root. Being a three piece I also play the guitar part quite a bit too, sounds funky.
23. I'm sorry about your gear but am I right in thinking they broke into your home to take your keys/car? There's an awful lot of this going on round here too, seems you can't have anything nice without some prick thinking they are more entitled to it than you. I've took to sleeping with cs gas & a bat under my bed. Come on in lads :-/
