1. I can't make my mind up, maybe a tad over produced for my tastes. Not to take anything away from them, they're a great band.
2. Tutors available Right down the bottom past the for sale threads.
3.
I just can't make peace with the looks of those Yammys. Sorry guys, they're good basses at great prices, but they're just not 'me'.
That's a real shame man, the GAK bargains at the minute are too good to pass up, so much so I've just bought one. I hear good things about the Squire VMP5 too although I haven't played one.
4.
Putting artists' Spotify earnings (US $0.000521 per play for songwriters, $0.00521 for performers, gross payable) into context of other music download services. http://thetrichordist.com/2014/11/12/the-streaming-price-bible-spotify-youtube-and-what-1-million-plays-means-to-you/ * Spotify and YouTube
Do you know how this compares to a play on mainstream radio? It really isn't a lot for sure but times are definitely changing and I think platforms like spotify could help to decrease illegal downloads in witch the artists get absolutely foxtrot alpha.
5. I've used it for years as premium & I've discovered so much music that I wouldn't have without it. I know nothing of royalties but surely there's an agreement somewhere between artists, labels & spotify.
6.
Or Health & Efficiency.
😂
7.
Or a video. Phwooar!
Apparently Mark, it's video content that's screwing up the nation's young men, give me Kay's catalogue any day. Oh wait, are we still on about basses :-)
8. I think truckstop sums it up perfectly, for me the only variables in strings (apart from flats v rounds) are feel and longevity. Some are brighter than others but it doesn't last. I honestly can't tell the difference in tone after the zing has gone.
9.
Yamaha BB425 going for silly money at GAK right now - a PJ that's well liked by many http://www.gak.co.uk/en/yamaha-bb425-standard-bb-vintage-white/48076?gclid=CPiK5-jgpMMCFQHMtAodPU4AmQ
Nearly bought one myself yesterday £249 is ridiculous.
10. Hybrid Slinky's or D'addario of the same gauge for no other reason than I like the feel. The D'adds take a little longer to break in as they are really bright when new.
11. & another interested party if HairyChris changes his mind.
12. Good suggestions & a couple of chuckles. Cheers, keep em coming
13. Long story short is, a friend of mine at work is doing some fundraising for The Princess Trust & Macmillan. One of the events is a night in a social club with raffle and various other stuff. He asked for a band so I've got together with my neighbour & the drummer from his band to do an hour set. We all come from different musical backgrounds but we'll make it work. I haven't done a charity gig before and being responsible for the set I thought I'd ask the ever reliable basschat community for ideas. We will only have time for one rehearsal so we need stuff that we can get down quickly, any suggestions? All that's on the list so far is Midnight Hour & I Need a Dollar. Cheers Steve
14.
Good news; well done, all. Now, how's that "song about a woman with her hand up a rabbit's @rse" coming along..?
Not too bad so far Dad, I found a bluesy drum loop that I've chopped up & I've been messing around with a dead simple minor pentatonic bass line that I've recorded. I just want to practice my piano part a bit more before I record it and because I don't own a microphone yet I've borrowed one to put my dodgy vocals on. Hopefully I can get a couple of hours at the weekend to find a nice arrangement.
15. I signed up to the forum before the academy started & when it had very few members, since the academy started I can no longer access the forum as it seems to be a perk now for the paying folk. Don't get me wrong, I'm not at a loss but I think an email explaining that I'd no longer have access would've been appreciated.
16. A why does whiskey in coffee with cream taste so good type bump. Also now considering trading this bass for pound notes ;-p
17. Let this one go after having it for about six or seven years. Played beautifully & I didn't realise I was so attached to it until it drove off down the M6. I'd buy it back in a heartbeat.
18. Just to put this to bed, I've had a scout on Looperman & there's so much useable stuff on there, it's a great site. I added a couple of blues drum loops to my library and it will be my first port of call in future. Also I've spoken to my brother & he's building me a new desktop to meet my needs, he said I'll have a much better machine for less money this way & I now have the license for Reason too. Thanks Dad & Bottle for the input. Steve
19.
I am currently working on a loner bass to allow people to try out the flat board/asymmetric neck and the filter pre-amp. Thinking that a security deposit would be paid via bank transfer. Agree time of lone with carriage both ways deducted from the deposit which would then be returned on the bass being returned. The bass is a 5 string Recurve with a RFB in the bridge and a PB in the neck. Pre-amp will be a DFM 3K. I will post details on my website once the bass is completed. This will be a UK only deal. Alan
I'd be interested, I've had an eye on ACG for a while & with an important birthday coming up it would be good to try before I buy. Only plan on one commission so it has to be right for me. Cheers
20.
I've got a Reaper licence and as Dad says, it's 100% transferrable to another machine if/when you upgrade. I managed to get the non-commercial licence when Cockos had a special offer on so I only paid $45 for the whole thing. Bargain! Cheap as chips and is valid all the way up to Version 5.99 (they're up to V4.76 at the moment)
Cheers, I'll buy it when I get home later, I'm fed up of the pop up. At least then I can plod on with my old machine while I decide on its replacement.
21.
Be warned... I, too, thought I'd 'have a go'. I now have over 20 G of samples. Have I listened to, or used them all..? Have I heck..! One day, surely...
Thank god for terrabites 😁
