1. I agree with Coilte & indeed Carol Kaye in that too much is a bad thing. I generally switch off mentally after about forty minutes so I usually play through some scales then learn the piece I'm working on then take a break. Come back after a cuppa to polish the song I just learned & start a new one if I need to.
2. Stingray & Yamaha Bb1024 they both get played in equal measures. Probably never buy or sell another bass again. I went through the collection phase but now I see them as tools and the two I've got cover all the sounds I could want.
3.
If it's in pmt and blue ..I've just bought it
Pictures or it didn't happen :-)
4.
OK so it's not actually 80s, but it looks like it... found one of these on A Popular Internet Auction Site and ohmygod pleeease somebody give me a good reason not to pull the trigger *drool*
There is no good reason not to pull the trigger, just buy the damn thing already ;-p
5.
My new rig. Status S2 Paramatrix Black Beauty with arch top, Eden Nav preamp, QSC PL230 and some Glockenklang cabs.
Yeah, but is it loud enough:-) Joking apart, I love the Glock cabs.
6. I had the Hartke you mention at home for a couple of year's, cracking little practice amp but not naturally vintage sounding.
7. Inside Looking Out has the most amazing OD/Fuzz tone I've ever heard. Did it with my old band but could never get the tone bang on.
8. I gave one away here recently & the mods didn't mod me so I guess it's cool.
9.
My girlfriend even commented...she nows asking " why have spent £1000's of pounds on bass's .?
And if she's anything like mine your reply would have been.... "shoes" Chuck her a look & walk out like a boss:-)
10. Just something about natural bb's that I love, shame it's only an option on the 202's now. The bridge dropped straight on with no drilling required & I bought the knobs from eBay, I think they were about a fiver. I wanted TRB style ones and they were perfect.
11. I had a 201 bridge on mine & like you I didn't use the eq a lot but I did find it useful on occasion. I considered putting a Glockenklang pre in as it had an active passive switch but never got round to it. Regret selling that bass.
12. Welcome to the forum, if you must sell everything to buy the Ric then make sure the Bb614 is the last thing to go. I sold mine and regret it, without a doubt the best bass I've owned & I currently use a Bb1024 & a Stingray so that should give you an idea how good they are.
13.
He included a pic of the receipt which shows he paid £275 for it 4 years ago. I can't find the 5 string new here but the 4 string version sells new for £140. I'd be surprised if the price difference between 4 and 5 string was so great so a little suspicious about the receipt.
I wouldn't be too suspicious. He's kept it for four years so it's probably not a bad bass. I don't know how much things sell for there but here I wouldn't consider that to be a lot of money for what could be a useable five string. Buy it I say :-)
14. Got to be worth a try then, buy it & if you like it cool, if not sell it on. I don't know what the market is like there but I doubt you'd loose anything on it. & it's a nice looking bass.
15. When you say for the equivalent do you mean it's coming from the US? (import duty) There was a craze around these parts a few years back where loads of members bought sx jazzes & p's, they were quite decent apparently.
16. Any apps similar to transcribe for mobile devices? Specifically android. Would be nice to be able slow the tricky bits down using my hudl. Ta Steve
17. Can't help with the mm pickup but the best Pj I ever played is my Bb1024, so versatile. It'll do a nice woody P sound or a twangy J if needed.
18.
Ditto, this post got me thinking and then i came across a Talkbass thread that said the amps have a lid on...i now have mine out and it does have a top lid on - awesome!!!...just need a decent bag for it to fit in. To the OP, I did consider your cab combo case that's for sale here as i have the 2x10" but but because of the shape of the cabs it wouldn't be neatly stackable. So I'm looking for the Contour ext.speaker if anyone should have one. Anyhow have another bump and GLWTS.
I was after the ext cab but they're like hens teeth. Now I know the heads come out I'll keep my eyes open for Genz 4/10 to shift more air when needed. Sorry for the slight hijacking Op. Glwts
19. I didn't realise the heads were detachable? Well I'll be damned, so they are :-)
20. I didn't play in a band for year's due to working odd shifts but since finding a bunch of geezers who are happy to put up with it I haven't looked back. I have fun playing with the band & I have fun learning & playing stuff just for me. I've started recording for a local guy on some house tracks too so things are looking good. One thing I did notice was that as soon as I started playing with other muso's I had to raise my game and my playing improved ten fold.
