1.
being a complete newly to playing an instrument and being completely addicted to learning (at a reasonably ripe age), this thread is very useful. Im trying all ways, and now theta circle makes a little bit of sense :-) thank you :-)
The circle is basically a map of the key's. If you look at it as if it were a pie and every song has a piece of that pie. For example, if I'm learning a song and I decide that the key tone I'm hearing is F, then I look at F on the circle then quarterise the circle so I only see F & one note either side & the minors in the middle then I can see the basic chords that are used in that piece. Provided that my initial assessment was correct and the song is indeed in F, then I don't need to faf about looking for the right chords because the circle tells me what they are. I hope that makes sense.
2.
I thought they were £200 for the pair?
You could well be right Sean, it was a while ago. *edit. The 20's have nicer rounded contour's to the body instead of the straight ones of the 10's & 4's
3. I remember your old build, still the best looking jazz I ever saw. I'll be watching this thread closely :-)
4.
Just but a really nice Dunlop Microfibre cloth. With a bit of breath and a few wipes you get a lovely clean surface without using any polish :-)
What he said, any decent microfibre will do, just don't wash it in detergent.
5. This is where a nice bass can become an excellent bass. Buy an engineers ruler and some radius gauge's and measure things. It doesn't take long to do and gives a nice uniform feel across the strings, far better than "eyeballing" in my opinion. Oh and always relief first.
6. I believe they are the same pickup's but with different part numbers for their different applications. A member here bought some (Ruck) and if I remember correctly they were close on £200 each so not a cheap upgrade at all.
7. Two very nice Ray's, I hope you can both make a deal. Wayne, I have Deedee's old Pearl Blue ray so trade with confidence he's one of BBC's good guy's
8. My favourite colour combo! Shame I don't have a black one to trade.
9.
As far as I'm aware JB's in Dudley has been closed for a few years now. A pity.....
Indeed it has, many a good night in there too.
10. The Robin 2 in Bilston aka the R&B club The River Rooms (as mentioned) The Slade Rooms in Wolverhampton (lots of students)
11. I'm sure I've said it before but Sandberg really do make the most convincing distressed basses. Enjoy!
12. Thanks Fellas, I figured something must be up given the amount of time he's been incommunicado. Get well soon Doc
13. Anyone know his whereabouts or how to contact him? Or even if he's ok? He was making something for me but has disappeared!
14. I ditched the MXR in favour of an Opto Stomp. Different strokes for different folks eh!
15. Yep, wrong way around. By the way is either standard tuning or drop d, can't quite remember it's been so long since I played it. It's all about the ghost notes.
16. I get bags more volume out of my amp when I put my pedals in front of it? If I just go bass to amp the limiter kicks in but using my pedals with the volume set to the same as off I can really crank it, in fact I can go flat out with it. I'm not complaining at all, just wondering what happens to my signal that the amp likes? Amp is a Genz contour, pedals are polytune, opto stomp, mxr od, bass is a Ray.
17.

Schweeeet, love those cabs!
18. I've just bought a pedal from Michael, he went above and beyond to get it to me before my holiday. Top job sir
19. Bad idea, the paint will most likely cover the body but you'll be able to see where the chips were. Plus there's no guarantee that the new paint will like the old paint.
20. Probably the most difficult decision I've had to make all month! Great work fellas
21. I can see this being a great thread Subbed! :-)
22. It's arrived, & it fits the bill perfectly. I bought a daisy chain too as the internet told me it didn't come with one, even said on the box that it was an extra but low & behold there's one with it. Thanks for the advice
