1. Grahame bought my bass trainer this week, fast payment and pleasant correspondence. Pleasure do deal with.
2.
My new monster...!
Gorgeous
3.
A proposer? (Well someone had to say it. )
Not a feckin chance, did it once, never again
4. Haven't used this since I bought my mixer so thought it pointless sitting around. As new condition with only a few hours use comes with 2gb memory card and in its original box with instructions. £50+ postage or meet up if local. Pm for any details. Ta
5. I wouldn't mind watching those. What were the programmes called? I'll see if I can find them.
6. I've been listening to and playing alot of Bowie lately and last night while drinking copious amounts of Irish whiskey and watching videos on YouTube, it dawned on me just how good Gail Ann Dorsey is. I think she is the epitome of what a good bassist should be. She lays down the groove in an effortless no flash kinda way and has a very cool stage presence. Check her out if you haven't already. That's all
7. I'm an amateur poser but one day I'll be pro. Probably need a better haircut though. Good luck with the audition.
8. Welcome to the forum, please remember that the primary function of any bass player is to be the coolest f***er on the stage so that said, you might want to ditch the guitarists body and liberate your inner coolness.
9. Welcome to the forum Mark, as Mark said most people here are called Mark unless they are called Dave but there's also a very strong contingent of Steve's. If you look in the for sale pages you may also find lots of stuff called Mark Bass, it's yellow apparently
10. My first thought was of a tumour on the landscape so I guess I'm expecting loads of minor chords this month. Can't wait until I can get my head around production just so I can enter these competitions. Looking forward to listening to the entries, good luck fellas. Edit_ well done the boy, that hook was killer
11.
I used a iMultimix 8 for a short while, but I got better results going from the amp direct to the mac than I did through the mixer/interface using the USB.
I haven't used mine with the laptop (i use a lexicon interface) I only use it as a stand alone unit. Bass in, phone (spotify) in, headphones out. It's a nice compact solution for practice, I even take it to work. I suppose it's primary function is mixing and the interface is just an add on.
12. I use an Alesis Multimix 4 & it will take a guitar or bass straight into the channel if you select the guitar/bass switch so no need for a di. It also seconds as a Usb interface too although I haven't used this feature so can't comment really. Sorry for the slight thread deviations op
13.
Don't let the lack of aux in stop you buying your dream amp. That's daft. How about, buy the amp, the spend £30ish on a small mixer: http://www.dv247.com/studio-equipment/behringer-xenyx-502-premium-mixer--31558 Your iPod plugs in, so does your DI out of the amp. Headphones too. Easy. Job done.
If you buy the right mixer you won't need to di, bass goes straight into mine.
14.
A grand is a very good price, was it in good nick?
Looked immaculate, also I'm not one for bothering about bass weights but this one felt light. The tint on the neck was sweet.
15. I'm just back from pmt in brum and they had a sunburst 2025 out, gorgeous bass and they only want a grand for it. I wanted to play it so bad but that would've meant putting the two year old mini me down and I couldn't afford the breakage's. I think looks wise the Bb's are a timeless classic, like a jazz or precision. I switch between a Bb and a Stingray and to be honest that's what I play and if the others don't like it they can find a new bassman.
16. I was torn this month, but in the end one of the tracks had a very addictive hook so that's where my vote went.
17. Just a quick question regarding the output limiter on the contour. I've been playing with a new band since just before Christmas and now the line up is two guitars, keys, drums, vocals and your's truly providing the low end. We haven't been out gigging yet as we're still putting the set together but in rehearsals I've been using my contour and at half volume it's not clipping but the limiter is kicking in quite a lot. I'm not using an extension cab in the rehearsal room and I'm loud enough but should I be worried about this? It's pretty much everything thing at twelve o'clock on the amp, how are other contour users setting your levels? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Ta Steve
18. The 1025 bridge is nearly a hundred quid off Yamaha UK, I paid 350 for my Bb1024 used. Maybe worth consideration.
19. I was so inspired by this month's picture that a couple of weeks ago I couldn't sleep because of this idea for a hip hop tune going around in my head. I got up out of bed and penned it. Too late to enter the comp but I'll be making a tune out of it anyway once the laptops fixed.
20.
If you still have the address why not arrange for him to be visited by some Fitted Kitchen/ Bedroom/ Double Glazing salesmen. Didn't he also say he was interested in joining the Army/ Navy/ Air force/ Marines?? - he's probably too busy to get the booklets himself so why not organise some literature for him?? He might be getting peckish about now - be considerate and order him a Pizza....
Hehehe
21.
Here's a wiring diagram showing a 1 Meg internal trimpot to balance P-J pickup outputs. In this case the trimpot is on the P pickup but same technique would apply to trimming the J.
Thanks for that I'm going to give it a try. Let you know how I get on.
