1. So if there was a fire & you could only save what you can carry ( two hands- two basses) how would you choose?
2. I always keep a Bb close to hand, but I also have a Stingray. No help am I
3. I thought about selling mine earlier in the year, even advertised it. Now I play it almost exclusively, hardly ever take a spare and since I started using a Genz I have to say I'm really satisfied with my sound. I run a little bit of compression and set the gain for a bit of dirt, doesn't always have to sound like Flea but it will if you want it to.
4. I'm so jealous of the space you guy's have, I'm currently waiting for the drains on my resources to become of age so they can move into a place of their own and give me a room back. They are fifteen, twelve and two so I'm not holding my breath though.
5. Loved all the entries but Lurksalot just got it, I did love Leonard Smalls entry too. Made me think 'techno punk' Well done to all
6.
http://www.teoria.com/exercises/ Chord/triad recognition exercises, interval exercises, a whole load of stuff here .
Looks just the ticket, thank you for sharing
7. I'm a fan of The Bravest Man in the Universe, anyone else like the later stuff?
8. Brilliant thanks. Think this will occupy the extended toilet break for many months to come.
9. Have you looked into why you're hand goes numb? I'd be more worried about circulation issues me thinks.
10. Thanks, I have a couple of applications that I'll try. Appalling results are my specialty.
11. This time last year my goal was to play bass more and get gigging, I've played almost everyday and I'm working on putting a set together with my new band. So all good there. This next year my goal is to improve my musical ear. I am fine at working things out with the aid of the circle of fifths but what I really want to work towards is chord recognition without having an instrument in my hands to figure it out with. Does anyone have any effective methods for training this? I'm not talking perfect pitch but more like identifying when a 7th's used etc. How did you guy's do it or should I just be patient and see if it happens naturally? Thanks in advance Steve
12. Not sure if it counts as a key change or they drop in an accidental (I'm a bit thick) but never the less one of my favorite songs at the minute. Nice to play too. Edit** Powerful video too
13. It was keyboards I meant but if anyone wants to add interesting key changes too then I'm all ears.
14. I have the Masters at Work Our Time is Coming box set and every tune on there has great bass recordings, well worth a listen if you can find it.
15. Thought this might make for a nice alternative thread, what are you're fave songs with Keys? Here's mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Kobdb37Cwc
16.
are they sort of the squier Vintage Modified of the "Ray" world, if that makes sense?
I would say no. They were an attempt to make an ebmm budget range affordable to the masses but they weren't cost effective for the manufacturer. I'd say the Squier equivalent will be the new Sterling by Mm basses.
17. I did it this year, find I appreciate the two I kept more & both get played so no dust gathering. Doing the same with amps now, just keeping the Genz
18. Crazy Train & Because the Night (Patti Smith) Not my usual bag, but hey, you can't pick them all.
19.
Here's my Fender Jazz again just 'cause... 80's Japanese '62RI body '03 Mexican Jazz neck refinished in Nitro American 62RI tuners & control plate Wizard Big P/J pickups Gotoh 201 bridge with 203 saddles
Great looking bass, almost camouflaged in you're pussy rug.
20. Great thread! I only started playing bass after I decided I'd had enough of DJ'ing (house 90's) and a friend who I DJ'd with went into producing and I recorded some basslines for an EP he did. I really should ask him for a digital copy. anyway, keep them coming ps. Mike Pickering used to play some nice lines on some of the live M People stuff
21. Good Intro, welcome to BC
